Chapter 401: Report and Rewards
Chapter 401: Report and Rewards
In a lounge on one side of the estate, Chen Chuan finished reading the materials sent by Wu Ju and gained a general understanding of Meng Huang's intentions.
Was this all for the sake of activating a consciousness entity?
No wonder he was so obsessed with the heir's identity, as this was something only the heir or the company's leader would have access to.
At this moment, he couldn't help but think of the entity residing within the Snow Empress Blade. What exactly was it? In the end, it managed to swallow the extended part of that existence.
Could it be a similar entity?
He couldn't find any similar cases in the materials for the time being.
It was certain that this thing was brought over from Xiong Jian Yi's body. On that day, Gong Zhan Yi took a risk by bringing Xiong Jian Yi, a wanted criminal, deeper into the rift. Perhaps the primary reason was this object.
Then, this might be related to the Gong family, and there's a possibility that it could involve the Ferris Wheel Company. It can't be ruled out that it might even have connections to the existence on the other side.
But there was no need to worry about all of that. For now, this thing seemed to be beneficial and harmless to him, and it was also under his will's control. So, there was no need to worry for the time being.
Even if it was truly an existence from the other side, it didn't matter. He had already sent one away, and even if there were any issues, he could handle them.
After reading through the materials, he noticed a form that needed to be filled out below.
This was a request for him to write an action summary, detailing the battle process, a specific description of the existence, and a summary, preferably with video evidence from the Boundary Token.
After all, unlike the time he fought against Wei Wusheng with many witnesses, or the Viper Team incident where there was clear evidence, this time, nothing was left behind. So, a detailed statement report was required from him regarding this matter.
This was indeed necessary. Apart from documenting the action for future reference and proof, it also served as valuable information for anyone who might encounter such an existence in the future.
Many of the materials he had read were compiled and summarized by numerous individuals, some of whom had even sacrificed their lives for it. Therefore, he took this task seriously, writing down the combat process and his general strategies.
However, he added a note at the end, stating that some of the tactics were personal choices based on his unique characteristics and should not be imitated by others.
After the detailed description, he found that there were additional questions to answer, such as a specific assessment of the existence on the other side and whether it exhibited distinct personality traits and preferences.
This question seemed somewhat odd, as if treating the existence on the other side as a person.
But he had studied the materials provided by the Handling Bureau and knew that this question wasn't meaningless.
There was a theory mentioned in the materials that suggested if the existence from the other side managed to come to this world, gain parasitism and symbiosis, there was a chance it would gradually adapt to this world.
The longer they stayed, the more human-like they would become, and they might even start thinking like humans. Eventually, it would be challenging to distinguish their true identities, and it might seem as if some of the existences from the other side had already infiltrated their world.
If this were the case, the infiltration of the other side's existence into their world would be far more severe than imagined.
Expanding on this thought, he wondered if the invasion and parasitism of these existences on humans only occurred during the recent period when the two worlds were about to collide, or if it had existed during the previous periods of change. In the new era, they could at least be prepared and differentiate, but in the old era, it would be impossible to figure it out.
However, it wasn't his place to worry about such matters; it was for the governments of various countries to handle. After some contemplation, he wrote down his intuitive feelings and left it to those above to make their judgment.
He filled out the remaining questions one by one, but paused slightly at the last one, which asked if he felt the existence on the other side showed noticeable progress during the confrontation.
This question was indeed debatable.
He recalled the battle; Meng Huang's movements were awkward, as he was not a trained fighter, and he didn't give him much room to display his skills.
However, he sensed that Meng Huang was constantly adjusting himself, and given enough time, he might gradually learn to utilize his full strength.
If a massive humanoid creature could also master a suitable method of exerting force, the difficulty of dealing with it would increase exponentially.
This served as a reminder that such an opponent might exist, and the concept of fighting a large-sized entity was entirely different, requiring specific techniques and weapons.
As he pondered, he answered the question, sent the form back, and then deleted the materials Wu Ju had sent earlier.
He stood up, brewed a cup of tea, and stepped out onto the balcony, enjoying the autumn breeze on his face and gently swaying his hair.
The various plants outside the estate swayed like waves, and from the estate's elevated position, he could see the vast sea in the distance, the massive yet indistinct silhouette of Central City, and several silver-white small airships flying back and forth in the sky.
After a long while, the boundary token sounded, and he answered the call. Wu Ju's voice came through, "Agent Chen, I've reviewed your report, and this matter has been filed. After this is over, the bureau will award you for your contribution."
Wu Ju continued, "Agent Chen, I need to ask you something. Since you've signed a confidentiality agreement, have you decided to participate in the World Ring Defense Program?"
Chen Chuan replied, "Of course."
Even if he didn't actively seek them out, those things would still enter the world, and he had a premonition that such situations might become more frequent in the future. There was no point in avoiding them; it was better to face them head-on.
Wu Ju said, "If you agree, there will be at least one defense action before the end of this year. It will be beneficial for you and will make it easier for you to apply for special medication."
Chen Chuan understood, even though he didn't currently need special medication, having more of it would certainly be better. Such drugs were highly valued among the fighter community and could be more useful than money.
He thought for a moment and asked, "If I go there, will my task be to guard against the things on the other side?"
Wu Ju's voice turned solemn, "Most of the time, we need to guard against the people on our side of the world."
After ending the call, Chen Chuan stood there for a while, until he finished another cup of tea, before turning back.
Nothing else happened that day, but he knew this was just a temporary calm. Internally, Fusion Boundary Corporation would definitely purge the forces related to Meng Huang, and some members of the Meng family might also be implicated. However, all of this was no longer his concern.
The next day, Chen Chuan, guided by a servant, arrived at Meng Shu's place. Seeing that she looked much more relaxed than the day before, he said, "It seems like you've resolved your issues?"
Meng Shu replied, "Grandfather said that by the end of the month, he will officially announce his resignation from all company positions and will no longer participate in any management matters. He will hand over the company to me."
Chen Chuan said, "It seems like Old Master Meng is keeping his promise."
Meng Shu looked at him and said earnestly, "Chen Chuan, my promise won't change either."
Chen Chuan nodded at her.
At this moment, Yan Yi approached and handed him an envelope, "Mr. Chen, this is something Miss Meng Shu found and specifically prepared for you."
"What is it?"
Meng Shu explained, "It's Meng Huang's transaction records with some island countries overseas, and there's a batch of goods waiting to be traded on the island. His subordinates revealed this to us, and I believe it will be useful for the Handling Bureau."
Chen Chuan understood her implication. If the company handed this over to the Handling Bureau, it would be a simple notification, indicating the company's attitude. By delivering it himself, he might even increase his personal merit, and his attitude would also be conveyed.
He didn't hesitate and took the envelope, "I'll bring it to the bureau."
Yan Yi added, "Miss Meng Shu has decided to allocate the special medication originally assigned to Meng Huang to you for distribution."
Chen Chuan asked, "Aren't you planning to recruit other fighters?"
Yan Yi replied, "It has been proven that they are not as reliable as you, Mr. Chen. Moreover, the company still has some resources controlled by the board of directors, which are sufficient for now."
Meng Shu spoke up, "Chen Chuan, you've been out for a long time. Why don't you go back and rest? The estate has Aunt Yu and Grandfather's direct security force, so there shouldn't be any problems for now."
Chen Chuan understood that this was his time off. He had been away for a while, and indeed, there were some matters he needed to attend to. So, he contacted the Handling Bureau, and they immediately agreed since as long as Meng Shu didn't travel and there were no internal issues, staying at the estate in White Bird District was generally safe.
After receiving the approval, he handed over the security matters and then boarded a private car arranged by Yan Yi to return to the central city's main district.
On his way back, he received a message notification. First was a personal reward of 600,000 credits from Meng Shu, and the company-rewarded house had been transferred to his name, requiring only his signature for confirmation.
He took a look; the house was located in Wuding District, not far from the Academy. It was also close to the combat gym where he had sparred with those disciples of the fighter families, just a five to six-minute drive away.
The most prestigious residential area in the central city was undoubtedly White Bird District, followed by Shangqiu in Weiguang District and the Mietie Mountain in the southern part of the city. Shangqiu was mainly inhabited by government officials, while Mietie Mountain was a gathering place for celebrities and the upper class.
Although the location of this estate didn't put it among the top-tier residences, the nearby residents were all high-ranking fighters. Perhaps for this reason, the layout of the estate was designed according to the habits of fighters, which suited Chen Chuan's preferences.
After some thought, he signed the document on the boundary token and then instructed the driver to stop by the estate after crossing the overpass.
