Chapter 401: Remorse Accumulation Step Fist
Chapter 401: Remorse Accumulation Step Fist
In terms of physique, this man named Ougreen wasn't as formidable as he appeared, with his muscles bulging. When compared to Garp and Zeifa, he was indeed inferior.
"Let me tell you first, your physique is indeed stronger than my current state. Without the need for your abilities to affect me, I'll just borrow some of your physical strength."
Sage beckoned to him, "Come, let me see what's going on."
"Don't underestimate me!"
Ougreen's anger caused his temples to bulge with veins, and he clenched his fist tightly, causing the veins on the back of his hand to pop out.
He stomped heavily on the ground, kicking up wood chips and dirt, and as he burst forward, the wind he created sounded like a tiger's roar, and he punched towards Sage's chest.
Without using Dominance, it was a pure physical attack, but as the fist struck, it carried a strange vibration in addition to the explosive force.
If it connected, it would likely disrupt the heart's rhythm and even cause it to stop due to the vibration.
"Hmm."
Sage chuckled lightly and also refrained from using Dominance. He simply extended his hand, "Watch closely, and I'll show you what technique is."
As the fist came at him, Sage reached out and sliced the edge of his palm across the fist, effortlessly redirecting Ougreen's powerful strike, causing it to glide harmlessly past Sage's side.
"You..." Ougreen exclaimed in shock, his eyes wide.
"Northern Dipper Soft Fist."
Sage smiled, "Now that the technique is done, it's time for strength!"
With his palm still pressed against Ougreen's fist, Sage spread his fingers and grabbed his wrist. Ougreen, startled, tried to break free, but no matter how much force he exerted, Sage's grip was like an iron clamp, unyielding.
"See, my physique isn't as strong as yours, but my strength surpasses yours. This is the beauty of Body Technique; through training, you can increase your physical strength and gradually surpass your own limits."
Crack! Sage tightened his grip, and the wrist he held caved in, as if the flesh were being squeezed like cotton.
"Ahh!" Ougreen cried out in pain.
"Don't think that I have natural talent for this either. I'm not born with immense strength. Compared to you, who is taller and more robust, you are the one with innate brute force."
On the vast sea, the stronger and more muscular a person is, the more powerful they are, which is why Titans hold the title of the strongest race.
This is innate talent, something that cannot be changed.
"So, logically, you should be stronger than me. You should be able to break my techniques and crush my strength, but why can't you?"
Sage released his grip and smiled, "It's because your willpower is insufficient. Aside from Dominance, the power of will can manifest itself. As long as your conviction is strong enough, you can definitely surpass your own limits!"
On the great sea, everything is limited by talent, except for willpower.
That's why willpower is so crucial; it's the only thing that can bring equality to all beings, whether they are Titans or small creatures.
Sage's Northern Dipper Divine Fist merely provided him with a training aid; it didn't grant him all its power from the start. He developed it through his own efforts.
And it was this unwavering willpower that allowed him to achieve such strength.
"What's the point of talking about personal limits? That's just another form of talent!"
Ougreen's other fist shot forward, but Sage didn't move. Instead, he swiftly kicked Ougreen's wrist as the fist moved, causing a cracking sound, and the other hand also dropped.
"This is my reflex ability, also faster than yours, so you're inferior to me in every way."
"To confine yourself within the walls of your own mind, believing the world should conform to your expectations, yet lacking the ambition to change it. In the end, you rely solely on your abilities, assuming others should follow suit."
"In my eyes, such a person is a complete weakling. Your so-called 'Master of Body Techniques' title doesn't impress me either. While your body techniques are decent, your willpower is that of a true weakling."
Sage shook his head, "I expected more from you, but your current display has even dampened my desire to engage. So be it."
Smack!
Sage leaned in, his finger pressing against Ougreen's chest, causing him to stiffen and involuntarily retreat.
"No, that's not right!" Ougreen exclaimed, his face contorting. Despite neither of them using Dominance, and both relying solely on their physical combat abilities, Sage didn't appear particularly imposing.
After a few exchanges, an overwhelming gap became evident.
"That's not the case! You're still relying on your natural talent. You're strong because of your talent, not because you're on the same level as me. Otherwise, my techniques would surely surpass yours! Body techniques are just skills, nothing more!" Ougreen shouted, his body straining as he struggled to regain control.
"Hahaha, at least you have some stubbornness, but it's meaningless. It's best you don't regret it later, given the technique I've bestowed upon you..." Sage chuckled, "The Remorse Accumulation Step Fist."
Ougreen wasn't entirely weak, at least not when it came to the vast sea. His skills and Dominance would typically be considered formidable.
However, Sage excelled in every aspect, surpassing Ougreen in both physique and Dominance.
He had hoped for a unique challenge, something to spark his interest, but now he saw only a withering flower, about to decay and rot, incapable of rebirth.
Such an opponent held no appeal for Sage, regardless of their physical strength or unique traits; they were still weak in his eyes.
Boom!!
As he finished speaking, Ougreen's head distorted and swelled, like a bizarre balloon unable to withstand the pressure, bursting open and spraying a mixture of red and white.
His body wobbled, and his missing torso seemed to reach out, only to collapse abruptly.
"Your turn," Sage said, looking up at Kai Hai.
"Ah, I found it!"
Just as Sage was about to make his move, a voice sounded from behind him. He turned to see Marika emerging from the depths of the forest, holding a Life Card.
Her appearance startled Kai Hai, who had been observing the battle without intervening, wondering why Marika hadn't joined Ougreen from the start.
"Oh, it seems our plan was off by a wide margin. No signs of combat, did you not encounter Vista?" Kai Hai chuckled.
"Perfect timing," Sage said, halting his attack. "Leave it to you, Marika. It'll be a good test of your recent progress."
"But I'm not a fighter," Marika smiled, glancing at Kai Hai. "Still, the Captain's orders must be followed. Very well, I'll give it a go."
