Chapter 400: Su Yu's Plan, Unite Shu and Swallow Wu
Chapter 400: Su Yu's Plan, Unite Shu and Swallow Wu
For a while, the two of them and the cat chatted about some trivial matters, quietly enjoying this rare moment of leisure.
Gradually, the sun set, and the moon rose above the horizon, marking the evening in the game world.
At this point, Alize suddenly remembered something important.
She turned her head, her large eyes twinkling as she looked at Su Yu.
"Kesing, what do you plan to do about the food supplies? Our country is completely out of reserve grain, and the two empires have us under a tight blockade. It's extremely difficult to procure enough food from elsewhere."
The cat, Morning Star, chimed in, "Yeah, you're not just bluffing, are you?"
Su Yu affectionately pinched Alize's little nose and gently rubbed Morning Star's head.
"I ask you, which country in the human world has the most food reserves?"
Alize thought for a moment and replied, "If we're talking about the most food reserves, it has to be the Lien Empire."
"They've been planning for this war for a long time. According to reports from our spies in the Lien Empire, they began preparing for this war even before our country's civil war began. They started stockpiling grain, manufacturing weapons, and building ships and equipment."
As she spoke, Alize suddenly understood Su Yu's intent.
Her eyes lit up, "Kesing, you don't mean to steal food from the Lien Empire, do you?"
At this, Morning Star interjected, "How can what a scholar does be called stealing? It should be called 'appropriating'!"
"Is there a difference?" Alize looked at Morning Star, puzzled.
"No, you misunderstood me," Su Yu explained, his face darkening. "I don't plan to steal food. Even if I did, I'd likely fail, right?"
"Of course, it would be very difficult for you to steal food," Alize nodded.
"Actually, we've already tried stealing food. I sent Cecilia Nightblade to the northeastern granary of the Lien Empire, but she was detected by Khadgar's 'Arcane Eye' and failed. It would be almost impossible for you to succeed."
Morning Star jumped from Alize's lap to Su Yu's shoulder, tilting her head curiously, "Since stealing won't work, how do you plan to get food from the Lien Empire? You can't just ask them for it, can you?"
"Actually, you're right!" Su Yu stroked Morning Star's back. "I'll make them willing to give us the food!"
"You?" Morning Star's feline face was a picture of disbelief.
Alize also looked puzzled, "How do you plan to do that?"
Su Yu thought for a moment and replied, "Let me tell you a story. Do you want to hear it?"
"Sure, I'll listen!" Alize rested her head on Su Yu's left arm, looking at him curiously.
Morning Star didn't say anything but jumped onto Su Yu's lap, pulling out several bags of snacks—dried fish, beef jerky, potato chips, and sunflower seeds—from the spatial bell hanging around her neck.
After sharing some of the snacks with Alize, the two of them munched away as they waited for Su Yu to tell his story.
Su Yu: "..."
But he didn't say anything more, just picked up a piece of beef jerky and tossed it into his mouth, then began to recount the events that happened when he first returned to the game world.
"Early this morning, I returned to this world and found myself in the frontlines of Sea Rock City, where a battle was raging... (omitted 500 words) ... My area-of-effect spell eliminated thousands of elite enemy soldiers. But the good times didn't last. For some reason, an arrow suddenly hit my wing! A seventh-level legendary from the Lien camp appeared! ... (omitted 800 words) ..."
Su Yu took a long time to recount his active participation in the war, his attack on Jaina, his clearing out of the Lien elite forces, his pursuit by Sylvanas, and finally, his deal with the Banshee Queen.
By the end of the story, Alyssa and Morningstar were completely stunned. They had forgotten to chew the snacks in their mouths, staring blankly at Su Yu.
Several seconds after Su Yu finished, Morningstar finally came to her senses.
She swallowed the fish jerky in her mouth and pounced on Su Yu, grabbing the collar of his mage robe. "Why didn't you tell me about this important matter earlier?!"
Su Yu's deal with Queen Sylvanas involved the Pandaren Empire's Hall of the Dead and her arch-nemesis, Walnut. It was closely related to her, and she couldn't believe Su Yu had kept it from her until now.
"You never asked," Su Yu shrugged innocently.
"Meow!" Morningstar's fur bristled, and she arched her back, glaring at him.
How could she have known to ask about something like this? You're clearly just trying to dodge the question!
Seeing that Morningstar was genuinely upset, Su Yu hurried to appease her. "Alright, don't be mad. When you visit our world again, I'll make sure you have as much grilled fish as you want!"
Morningstar's anger subsided a little, but she was still upset.
Su Yu had a sudden idea. "How about I get you a life-sized plushie of the magical cat Yuumi? Then you can cuddle with her every night."
"That's more like it!" The thought of Yuumi instantly calmed her down.
She released Su Yu's mage robe and hopped onto his lap to continue snacking.
While Morningstar was pacified, Alyssa was not.
Moreover, Alyssa's focus was different from Morningstar's.
After Su Yu finished his story, Alyssa frowned. "Counter, the project you and Sylvanas are working on sounds promising, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with our main concern—food."
"It does have a connection," Su Yu looked at Alyssa and explained. "Do you remember that part of the project involved dealing with the powerful Soul Keeper Joryk of the Windchime Empire?"
"Of course," Alyssa nodded.
"Since we're working together to take down Joryk, it means the Lien Empire will betray their allies."
"Then why not go all the way? Once they've betrayed their allies, the Lien Empire might as well finish the job and eliminate them completely," Su Yu said with a knowing smile.
"You mean we should ally with Lien??" Alyssa sat up straight, her eyes widening with excitement.
"Exactly," Su Yu grinned. "I'll visit the Lien Emperor at dawn and try to convince him to turn against the Windchime Empire. Together, we can take down the 'evil' Windchime Empire."
"There are no permanent allies, only permanent interests. Originally, the combined forces of the Lien and Windchime Empires were evenly matched against us. Now, with our two empires united, we can easily crush the Windchime Empire! The Lien Emperor is a smart man; I believe he will choose to stand with us."
"Once that happens, the food problem will be solved. The Lien people will deliver their grain to our camps without hesitation."
Su Yu laid out his entire plan.
Alyssa fell into deep thought.
The more she thought about it, the more she believed it was worth a try!
