Chapter 400: Son of Destruction
Chapter 400: Son of Destruction
White Dove flapped her wings, soaring through the heavens, and in an instant, countless lives and beings flashed past her eyes.
The next moment, space froze.
White Dove transformed back into Remiller, her bare feet lightly touching the ground as she appeared in Professor Karl's laboratory.
"This isn't a place you can just casually visit," Karl said, observing a few writhing drops of liquid and turning back with a sigh.
"Next time, please let me know before you come."
"Professor Karl," Remiller said, her expression serious.
"Is this your doing?"
"What?" Karl asked, confused.
"Son of Destruction!"
Karl shrugged, feigning ignorance.
"I don't understand what you mean."
"Every time you appear, calamity follows," Remiller said, her face darkening. "The gods fell because of you, and the birth of the Vampire Clan is also attributed to you. Now, there's the Son of Destruction..."
"It's not my doing," Karl quickly interjected, waving his hands. "When I gave you the Godslayer Spear, I warned you how dangerous it was, especially to deities!"
"I merely brought an object here. What happens after that is your responsibility."
Remiller clenched her fists and took a deep breath before asking, "Where is the Son of Destruction?"
"He's not with me," Karl replied. "Breaking the gods' curse and blocking their divine perception is something I couldn't do."
"Professor Karl, my friend," Remiller sighed, appealing to his emotions. "The Son of Destruction must die. Otherwise, his existence will lead to the destruction of this world. You should know the consequences!"
"That's a good question," Karl smiled. "Killing one to save many, but the person is innocent. As an angel, can you take a life?"
"Remiller!"
"You have deep feelings for the ordinary people of this world, which sets you apart from the gods."
Karl had been observing the other powerful beings in this world. While the elders of the Temple of the Gods were working to revive the deities, Remiller alone was dedicated to protecting humanity and ensuring their prosperity, showing no interest in the gods' revival.
This was indeed different.
"I don't know what you truly want, but even the Vampire Clan would not tolerate the existence of the Son of Destruction," Remiller said, her gaze fixed on Karl. "Goodbye!"
Before her words had even finished, the void where she stood began to distort and fold, and she disappeared from sight in an instant.
This ability was truly terrifying.
In the Eastern Kingdom Continent, Remiller could teleport to almost any location and even appear in multiple places simultaneously—a feat only possible for a Sixth-Tier peak expert. Not even Professor Karl could match this ability.
No, not just Karl. Remiller was the only one capable of such a feat!
As he bid her farewell, Karl shook his head slightly, his gaze piercing through the void towards a chaotic region.
There, a scroll quietly hovered in the air.
...
The Scroll World.
"Waa... Waa..."
The incessant cries of a baby filled the air, leaving two new parents scrambling to soothe their child.
"Why is he crying so much?"
"Is he hungry?"
"He can't just keep drinking milk. He'll get a tummy ache from overeating."
"..."
The new parents fussed over their child, their words a mix of worry and affection. Finally, the baby fell asleep, and the parents shared a relieved smile.
"This is wonderful!"
Monica snuggled into Blaze's embrace. "If only every day could be like this."
"We don't mind," Blaze replied, his fatherly concern contrasting Monica's contentment. "But what about our other two children?"
"They'll grow up. They should experience the outside world, and... we can't always be by their side."
"At least..." Monica's eyes dimmed slightly.
She had rejected Blaze for the same reason; their vastly different lifespans naturally created an insurmountable divide between them.
"Our child..."
Their child was just an ordinary human, inheriting neither the abilities nor the longevity of a vampire, and was thus, mortal.
Unless...
"Should we turn them into low-ranking vampires under our command?"
"No!" Monica shook her head firmly.
An awkward silence filled the air.
"Never mind," Blaze spoke up with a hearty laugh, "Let's not dwell on unhappy thoughts. As long as we're together as a family, it doesn't matter where we live."
"Boom!"
Just as he finished speaking, a thunderous roar shook the sky, causing the surrounding mountains to tremble.
"Is that thunder?"
"How can it be thundering here?"
The couple stood up abruptly and looked up at the sky.
"Blaze!"
"Monica!"
"Can you hear me?"
A booming voice reverberated through the Scroll World, making their eardrums buzz.
"Professor Karl?"
The familiar voice startled them, and Blaze asked in surprise, "Is it really you, Karl?"
"It's me."
Karl parted the clouds, revealing his face in the Scroll World, which appeared larger than the mountains.
"This Scroll World is peculiar; three forces are intertwined, and even I can't unravel it in a short time."
"It's been two days outside since you disappeared. How long has it been inside?"
Staring at the giant face in the sky, the couple was dumbfounded. After a while, Monica was the first to regain her composure.
"About a year has passed for us here."
"A year?"
Karl nodded, "Do you have a child now?"
"I can't see the situation inside the Scroll World, I can only hear your voices."
"Yes," Blaze smiled, "A boy and a girl, twins."
"Congratulations!" Karl said, "I'll synchronize the time first. Before the seal is broken, enjoy the happiness of your family of four."
"Karl..."
Blaze frowned, "What do you mean?"
"Vampires can't have children," Karl said, his face slowly fading away, "Your child is known as the Son of Destruction. I'll pass on some cultivation methods of the Knight's Path to you."
"Hopefully, we can change fate."
---
In the polar region, a meteor streaked across the night sky and plummeted into the Eternal Midnight.
A few dozen miles from the impact site, a team of researchers conducting a polar expedition turned their gaze towards the falling meteor.
"Professor, a meteor has fallen."
"A meteor?"
An elderly man with white whiskers emerged from the tent, his breath forming white mist in the frigid air, "How can there be a meteor here?"
As a top professor in his field, he had inevitably come into contact with the extraordinary world and was well aware that a meteor from the material world could not enter this region sealed by the gods.
"I'll make a call."
After a moment's thought, he returned to the tent, retrieved his communication device, and reported the situation to the nearby military district.
"Let's go!"
Gathering their belongings, he waved to his students, "Let's drive over and take a look."
"Yes, sir!"
The snowfield wasn't particularly dangerous, and the researchers, driven by their spirit of exploration, weren't about to miss this opportunity.
Half a month later.
"Professor Karl."
Two men in military uniforms appeared at the college, holding a file, "The Federation needs your assistance."
