Chapter 400: Because We Are Friends!
Chapter 400: Because We Are Friends!
Ivan was well aware that as he used the Unicorn Shadow more often, the number of people who knew about his unique Patronus would inevitably increase, making it impossible to keep it a secret entirely.
He had previously kept it hidden mainly because he liked to have a few tricks up his sleeve for future use.
Listening to Ivan’s explanation, Professor Mcgonagall’s expression was quite peculiar. If what Ivan said was true, wouldn’t Dumbledore’s Phoenix-shaped Patronus be nothing more than a golden-red feathered Scottish Long-tailed Chicken?
Professor Mcgonagall shook her head helplessly, understanding that Ivan didn’t want to elaborate further, so she didn’t press the matter.
Seeing the group of young wizards gathered around Ivan, Mcgonagall didn’t interrupt their lively conversation. Instead, she quietly left to attend to her duties, needing to discuss something with the Ministry of Magic.
Ivan, surrounded by a large group of enthusiastic young wizards, found it exhausting to answer all their questions. Eventually, he used the pretext of needing to use the restroom to slip away and take a more secluded path.
“I should have been more low-key,” Ivan reflected, but he quickly realized he had already been quite discreet.
It seemed that no matter how much an outstanding person tried to hide, they still shone brightly!
“Ivan~ What are you doing here? Aren’t you celebrating with them?”
A distant, ethereal voice sounded from behind. Ivan turned to see Luna walking around the corner, holding a wooden sign. She was wearing a thick coat over her Ravenclaw robes.
As she got closer, Ivan noticed that Luna’s clothes were still damp from the rain, and her pale golden hair was dripping water, but she didn’t seem to mind at all.
“Celebrating? Celebrating what? We Gryffindor lost the match, after all,” Ivan said with a hint of frustration.
“But you saved everyone, didn’t you? If it weren’t for you, those Dementors would have driven us mad. They always bring up unpleasant memories,” Luna’s expression was somewhat distant, as if she was reliving the events.
Before Ivan could respond, Luna continued, sounding a bit regretful, “I wanted to thank you for driving them away, but so many others did the same. I thought you probably didn’t need my thanks.”
“No, not at all. We are friends,” Ivan shook his head and said firmly.
“Yes, friends!” Hearing Ivan’s words, Luna smiled, her tone light and almost melodic, as if she were humming a tune.
Ivan couldn’t quite understand why Luna was so happy.
But then he realized that the young witch didn’t seem to have many friends at school. In the original timeline, she didn’t meet Harry and his friends until two years later, which meant that Ivan might be her only friend right now.
Thinking about this, Ivan looked at Luna with a gentle expression. He then noticed that her clothes were still wet and drew his wand, pointing it at her.
“Scourgify!”
As the spell was cast, a gust of Magic Power swept over Luna’s thick coat, lifting it up. The remaining water on her clothes seemed to come to life, forming a ball of water that then dissipated into the air as mist.
“This is a cleaning spell? I haven’t learned it yet,” Luna looked at her now dry clothes and murmured softly. She was only in her second year and hadn’t learned this spell yet.
However, Ivan noticed that Luna's clothes were also covered in some dust. Luna, with great interest, took out her wand from behind her ear and tried to cast a spell just like Ivan had done.
"Scourgify!"
A slight breeze stirred, but nothing else happened. Luna tilted her head, looking at Ivan with a puzzled expression.
"You need to adjust your wand movement a bit. It should be like this. I'll demonstrate it for you slowly", Ivan smiled and waved his wand to show Luna.
The two of them continued walking back to the dormitory, learning magic along the way.
On the way, Luna also showed Ivan the wooden plaque she was carrying in her arms.
Ivan noticed that besides the slogans he had seen before, there were two little figures holding hands drawn on the plaque.
Although it was a simple sketch, it was beautifully done. Ivan could easily recognize that the two figures were himself and Luna.
"Do you like it?" Luna asked softly, holding her wand and drawing a circle between the two figures. A pale golden Magic Power formed the word "friend"!
After showing it to Ivan for a while, Luna put the wooden plaque back in her arms and sighed. "It's a bit of a shame that I spent a lot of time finding the right piece of wood in the Forbidden Forest to make it."
Ivan was lost in thought, amazed that Luna had gone to the Forbidden Forest just to make this.
Perhaps sensing Ivan's thoughts, Luna quickly explained that she had gone to the Forbidden Forest to look for the Horned Snorkack, and making the wooden plaque was just a side project. It also helped her practice her Transfiguration skills.
Even if they didn't use it, it could still be a nice decoration in their dormitory, so there was no need for Ivan to worry.
"But maybe we'll have a chance to use it next year, right?" Luna suddenly said.
"Sure, there will definitely be a chance!" Ivan nodded with a smile, though he knew that next year the Triwizard Tournament would be held, and there would be no Quidditch matches. It would probably take two years before they could use it.
They continued chatting as they walked, and before long, they arrived in front of the Ravenclaw common room.
The Eagle-shaped Bronze Knocker on the door opened its mouth, and a mysterious voice spoke.
"Which came first, fire or the Phoenix?"
Such a question was no challenge for Luna. She thought for a moment and then said, "Well, it's a cycle, with no beginning!"
"Reasonable, correct answer."
The eagle-shaped knocker spoke again, and the door to the Ravenclaw common room opened automatically.
Ivan looked at the annoying knocker with a speechless expression. He remembered that when he answered the question, it wasn't a riddle like this. Was it really treating outsiders more strictly?
"It's always more strict with outsiders", Luna laughed lightly, teasing him.
"Never mind, I won't argue with a knocker." Ivan shook his head, thinking it was pointless to get upset with an inanimate object.
"Alright! Let's call it a day. I need to go back now." Luna looked at the open door and spoke.
Then, as if she remembered something, she turned around, her bright eyes locking onto Ivan's.
"Also, congratulations on driving away those annoying flies. I really hope I have a day like that too."
