Chapter 40: The Multitalented Cat
Chapter 40: The Multitalented Cat
The battle erupted in an instant, but not as the Starlight Sect members had anticipated. Instead, they were the first to come under attack.
Almost as soon as Troy finished speaking, two of the Starlight Sect members let out agonized screams. Their bodies were torn into several pieces, as if ripped apart by the claws of a fierce beast.
What's happening?
This thought flashed through the minds of all the Starlight Sect members simultaneously.
Before they could make sense of it, two more of their companions were flung into the air, their bodies contorted into unnatural angles. The sound of their bones snapping was enough to make one's skin crawl. They twitched once on the ground and then fell silent.
Troy finally reacted, shouting in shock and anger, "Something is invisible nearby, be on your guard!"
But his words only served to heighten the panic among his subordinates.
They had no idea where the invisible enemy was or how to defend themselves, let alone attack. They could only watch helplessly as one by one, their comrades were torn apart, their bodies shattered, and their screams filled the air.
In just a few breaths, over a dozen Starlight Sect members were dead.
The remaining members were pale and trembling, their faces etched with fear.
"Damn it!"
Troy gritted his teeth, his eyes burning with fury as he turned and charged toward Su Nan.
"Take him out first!"
Rian also realized what was happening. This bizarre attack must have been orchestrated by Su Nan.
Kill this guy first!
Facing the two men charging at him with murderous intent, Su Nan remained calm and composed. Without hesitation, he threw a rune gem.
With a whoosh, the gem burst into a blazing red light in mid-air, transforming into a wave of flames that engulfed Rian!
His aura shield, which had protected him for less than a breath, shattered instantly. The flames then swept over his entire body, turning him into a towering pillar of fire.
"Ah!!"
Amidst his agonizing screams, the Great Knight was reduced to ashes in moments.
On the other side, Troy felt a chill run down his spine and a cold sweat break out all over his body.
While Rian was not as strong as him, he was still a Junior Great Knight. Yet, he had been killed in a single strike. The methods of this mysterious person were terrifying!
As Su Nan's gaze turned toward him, Troy felt a sudden, tightening fear grip his heart. Without a second thought, he turned and fled.
He had realized that this person was far beyond their capabilities to handle.
Even if they all sacrificed their lives, they would be no match for him!
To retrieve the divine blood potion, they would need to return and ask the High Priest for help!
However, when he turned back, Troy was horrified to see that all the men he had brought with him were dead. The ground was littered with mutilated bodies and pools of blood, a gruesome sight.
Moreover, the area around him was still empty, with no sign of the monster.
A sense of impending doom washed over Troy.
Sure enough, the next moment, a powerful and overwhelming force struck him from the side, hitting him with the force of a tidal wave!
Boom!
Troy was sent flying like a cannonball, landing over a hundred meters away, spewing a mixture of blood and flesh.
Ignoring his pain, he screamed and scrambled to his feet, sprinting forward as fast as he could.
But a bolt of lightning was even faster!
A bolt that split the night sky, crossing over a hundred meters in the blink of an eye, struck him from behind!
Crack!
Countless arcs of electricity exploded, instantly enveloping Troy's entire body!
When the blinding light faded, Troy lay on the ground, charred and lifeless.
From a distance, Su Nan calmly retracted his hand.
Against Great Knight-level opponents, both zero-level spells and simple energy manipulation had limited effectiveness.
The true combat tool that could be relied upon was the rune gem.
A single rune gem was enough to instantly kill a Junior Great Knight.
If it weren't for the extremely high cost, Su Nan would have considered using rune gems as his primary combat method.
"Meow, Su Nan, you're so amazing!" Amy appeared out of nowhere at Su Nan's feet, looking at him with adoration.
So many bad guys, and Su Nan took care of them all in an instant.
Amazing!
"By the way, is that invisible giant your pet?" Amy asked curiously.
Su Nan was surprised. "You can see the Hidden Dragon?"
"Yep, yep," Amy nodded vigorously. "Master said my senses are very sharp, so I can see a lot of things others can't."
"Like the ability of True Sight," Su Nan mused.
Knowing it had been discovered, the Hidden Dragon no longer hid and revealed its form, staring at Amy with its large eyes.
Amy's fur bristled, and she quickly hid behind Su Nan.
"Meow, don't eat me, Amy doesn't taste good!"
Su Nan was taken aback. In that moment, he indeed sensed through the magical pet contract that the Hidden Dragon had the thought, "This cat looks delicious."
"Can you sense the thoughts of other creatures?"
Amy, huddled in fear, said, "Not exactly, but I can sense the malice others have toward me."
Such an ability?
Su Nan was enlightened.
He had previously thought Amy was too innocent and naive, approaching a stranger without any reservations and answering all questions.
Now it seemed she had sensed no malice from him, which is why she had no guard up.
Su Nan couldn't help but feel relieved. If he had felt greedy when he saw the divine blood amber and the spatial magic item that looked like a bell, Amy might have already run away.
But this little cat was truly multi-talented.
Spatial travel, True Sight-like abilities, and now the ability to sense malice—she had a lot of quasi-magical abilities.
And who knows what other quasi-magical abilities she might have?
After a moment of reflection, Su Nan walked over to Rian's body and searched it, finding a statue.
Rian had used this statue to determine that the divine blood amber was on Su Nan.
The earlier group's ability to accurately pinpoint his location in the room might also have been due to this statue.
The moment Su Nan picked up the statue, the familiar whispering voice echoed in his ears.
He resisted the mental pollution and carefully examined the object.
But it didn't seem to be a magical item that could be used by deciphering its enchanted runes. After a long look, he couldn't figure out how to use it.
Frustrated, Su Nan simply crushed the statue, only to find another divine blood amber inside.
"Now I have two."
Su Nan happily placed both divine blood ambers into the synthesis cube and checked the synthesis interface.
[Divine Blood Amber, divine blood content: 0.1 ml. Carrying it can enhance the attraction to energy particles, but it has a certain level of mental pollution. Prolonged close contact can lead to changes in thought and perception, resulting in a fervent belief in the divine blood source.]
The last part of the description for the synthesized divine blood amber, "resulting in a fervent belief," no longer included the word "intense."
This confirmed Su Nan's earlier hypothesis that synthesis could reduce side effects.
"Next, I just need to find enough divine blood ambers to synthesize an item that can significantly improve meditation efficiency!"
Su Nan's face lit up with a joyful smile.
