Chapter 4: Training for 72 Hours a Day
Chapter 4: Training for 72 Hours a Day
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
Feng Ye's fists relentlessly pounded the wooden stakes, emitting a dull thud with each impact. The resilient, specially crafted stakes bore the obvious indentations of his punches.
He was diligent in his training, particularly when it came to physical techniques.
His ability to manipulate time currently served him in two ways: in combat, it granted him a base speed several times that of an ordinary person, and he could further amplify this boost at will.
The second application was to accelerate his training—to elongate his practice time relative to the outside world. For every three hours he trained in this accelerated state, only one hour would pass outside.
Interestingly, while the time acceleration seemingly only affected speed, it also indirectly enhanced his strength. According to Newton's second law, force equals mass times acceleration... and this law held true even in the world of Naruto.
Feng Ye vaguely recalled a character from another world who had proclaimed, "Speed is power! Have you ever been kicked at the speed of light?!" If one could truly attain the speed of light through time acceleration, a single strike would likely be earth-shattering!
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
After briefly acclimating to the tripled speed, Feng Ye paused, swiftly forming the necessary hand seals to execute the Shadow Clone Technique.
Bang! Bang!
As smoke wreathed the area, two identical clones of Feng Ye appeared, one to his left and the other to his right.
The Shadow Clone Jutsu was arguably the ultimate training assistant, and Feng Ye had long ago acquired the technique from Kakashi.
Using this jutsu within the Academy would undoubtedly drop jaws. After all, the Shadow Clone Jutsu was a B-rank technique, a full three levels above the basic E-rank clone techniques.
Even some Chunin struggled to master the Shadow Clone Jutsu!
Proficiency in this single technique was enough to crush the majority of students and graduate from the Ninja Academy ahead of schedule.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The two clones dashed to opposite sides of the yard.
One of the clones picked up a short sword that had been left on the left side of the yard—the White Fanged Blade, one of the famous Ninja Swords of the Hatake clan, inherited by the eldest son, Hatake Sakumo.
Feng Ye had been diligently training in the Hatake clan's sword style, renowned throughout the ninja world. This style incorporated chakra and synergized exceptionally well with his time-based abilities.
One could say that...
If he could master the Hatake sword style to the level of the White Fanged Blade, he would undoubtedly dominate the ninja world. Even in his accelerated state, he might stand a chance against those who had transcended the Kage level.
Meanwhile, the other clone began gathering chakra in the palm of his hand, molding it into a spherical shape... Yes, he was forming a Rasengan.
The Rasengan's essence lay in the transformation of chakra into a tangible, spinning sphere, and as a close-range technique, it too benefited from Feng Ye's time-based abilities. Most importantly, practicing the Rasengan would enhance his control over chakra.
By now, Feng Ye had already passed the initial stages of his training, such as tree-climbing and water-walking.
To further refine his chakra control, he had taken up the challenge of mastering the Rasengan. However, his progress was slower than he would have liked due to his less-than-abundant chakra reserves. He wasn't nearly as gifted as Naruto in that regard, and after months of effort, he had only managed to partially complete the technique.
"With the threefold time acceleration, I should be able to reach the physical maturity of a ten-year-old in about a month. That should be enough to start training the Eight Inner Gates."
As Feng Ye trained, he contemplated his future path.
The Eight Inner Gates held great significance for him, but their extreme side effects made them unsuitable for his younger body. That was why he hadn't attempted to learn them from Might Guy.
Nevertheless, he intended to acquire the training methods, for despite their drawbacks, their power was undeniable.
Feng Ye was keenly aware of the core principle of his training—to enhance his abilities across the board. This way, when he activated his time acceleration, he could exhibit three, five, or even more times his normal strength!
After all, the ability granted by the ethereal clock was akin to a superior version of the 'Time Lordship' in the Holy Grail world—a constant, side-effect-free boost.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!!!
The clone holding the White Fanged Blade continuously swung the chakra-infused short sword, slicing through the air on the east side of the small yard.
While clones didn't benefit from the time acceleration, Feng Ye could still use them for training. All he needed was to accumulate experience and proficiency with the Hatake sword style.
On the other side of the yard, the second clone focused on molding the chakra in his palm, causing it to spin and take on a nebulous, spherical form.
Puff! Puff!
After a while, both clones exhausted their chakra and dissipated into white smoke.
Feng Ye halted his movements and absorbed the memories and experiences of the clones, which swiftly integrated into his mind.
Drawing in a deep breath, he formed the necessary hand seals once more.
Bang! Bang!
Two more clones appeared.
This second activation of the Shadow Clone Jutsu left a thin layer of sweat on Feng Ye's forehead, and he could feel his chakra reserves were starting to wane.
"Chakra reserves are always an issue..."
Feng Ye sighed inwardly.
Naruto, with his ability to create dozens or even hundreds of clones for training, was truly an anomaly, a freak of nature.
After all, he possessed the body of a Whirlpool clan member and was the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, granting him an absurdly large pool of chakra that was nearly impossible to replicate.
A short while later, the two clones vanished once more, leaving only the original Feng Ye.
He chose not to create more clones, as his body was already fatigued from his relentless physical training, and his chakra reserves were dwindling. Creating four clones in quick succession was already pushing his limits.
"One thousand three hundred and seventy-seven, one thousand three hundred and seventy-eight..."
Feng Ye counted as he repeatedly delivered side kicks to the sturdy wooden stake, only stopping when his body could no longer endure the strain.
Without disabling the time acceleration, Feng Ye strode to the side of the yard, picked up a cup, and slowly drank some water. He also ate a couple of biscuits to replenish his energy.
Recovery, too, was accelerated in this state.
If he maintained the threefold time acceleration, each day would be the equivalent of seventy-two hours for Feng Ye. During this time, he would eat nine meals and sleep thrice.
"I don't know if I could still practice with a full-body fracture or a high fever of forty-nine degrees Celsius, but training for over twenty-five hours a day is definitely achievable..."
Feng Ye mused to himself.
