After retreating into his little world, Naruto had spent the past few months in blissful isolation, fully immersed in his hobby of crafting clay figures. His efforts had finally paid off—after ten months, he had created something presentable. His sculpting skills had improved significantly.

In a glass cabinet about 80 centimeters tall, a small clay figure stood proudly on a base. It was a destroyer battleship, the shipgirl version of the Vittorio Veneto, though without any armaments. After all, how could he explain those?

On top of the cabinet, four clay heads were casually placed, vaguely resembling the Hokage Monument. They were there for political correctness.

The Third Hokage had long since given up on trying to understand Naruto. Apart from his morning and evening runs on the rooftop, the boy never left the house. After a few reminders, Naruto had started going out at 8 p.m. every night, walking in a random direction and returning by 9:30 to sleep.

Naruto, however, was having the time of his life. He had no worries about food, clothing, or shelter. He had ice for hot days, warm clothes for cold ones, and even if the water or power went out, he was prepared. He could light his own lamps and summon his own water. If the house collapsed, he could rebuild it on the spot. The only thing missing was the internet, but otherwise, his life was perfect.

With his basic needs met, Naruto was in high spirits and even planned to sculpt a Lexington next.

After washing up, he lay down on his dragon bed, ready to drift off to sleep.

The dragon bed, the most comfortable bed in the game, was one meter by one and a half meters—plenty big for Naruto now. When he grew older, he planned to combine four of them into a two-by-three-meter bed.

“Where is this…?” Naruto opened his eyes to find himself in a dim, watery space. The water wasn’t deep, only about ten centimeters, but it stretched out in all directions. In front of him was a massive gate, sealed with a large talisman.

‘Oh, so this is where I am,’ Naruto realized. As a longtime fan of Naruto, he had seen this scene countless times on screen, but seeing it in person was still awe-inspiring. The gate was easily a hundred meters tall—if it fell, it could crush a crowd of people.

“If this is the place, then shouldn’t there be claws coming out of the gate soon?” Naruto muttered to himself.

Screech!

Right on cue, massive claws emerged from the gate, scraping against the metal and sending sparks flying. The sparks rained down on Naruto, and the claws nearly skewered him.

“Hey, brat, come here.”

Naruto looked up.

A gigantic fox loomed above him, its head pressed against the gate, its eyes glaring down at him.

“It’s so big… I’m going to die,” Naruto thought, reaching out to touch one of the claws. The part sticking out of the gate was already a meter long, and there was more behind it. At his current size, the claws could impale him five times over, and he still wouldn’t fill the gaps. Sprinkle some seasoning, and he wouldn’t even make a decent snack for the fox. Five of him wouldn’t fill a single tooth.

“Brat, how dare you come here?” The fox’s voice boomed, amplified by the echo of the vast space, making Naruto’s ears ring.

“Hello, my name is Uzumaki Naruto. Nice to meet you. Please take care of me.”

Naruto wasn’t afraid of the Nine-Tails, even though its massive size was intimidating. It was like seeing a bear at the zoo—as long as he felt safe behind the glass, he could watch without fear.

Especially since he knew the Nine-Tails’ personality from watching Naruto. It was a mix of a cat’s pride and a husky’s goofiness—basically, a tsundere husky.

“I don’t care what your name is, brat. Come here so I can kill you.”

“No thanks. I’m going back to sleep,” Naruto said, turning and running. A growing child needed his rest.

After pretending to leave, Naruto began exploring the space. It was about 150 meters tall, 400 meters long, and 300 meters wide—and that was just his side. The Nine-Tails’ side was even bigger.

Naruto tried taking out an oil lamp from his inventory, and to his surprise, it worked. Holding the lamp, he walked around the area, but all he found was water and drainage pipes. After wading around until his feet turned pale, he still couldn’t find an exit.

Returning to the gate, Naruto decided to ask the Nine-Tails for help. After all, it had been here for a long time and might know something.

“Hey, big fox, do you know how to get out of here?” Naruto asked cautiously, worried that the question might set off the Nine-Tails. He wasn’t afraid of being attacked—he just didn’t want to deal with the ear-splitting roar again.

The Nine-Tails lifted an eyelid to glance at him, then closed it again. It was starting to think its current jinchūriki might be an idiot. If it knew how to get out, would it still be trapped here?

“If you tell me, I’ll treat you to some barbecue,” Naruto offered, trying to tempt the fox.

“I don’t eat human food, brat. You—” The Nine-Tails’ mouth barely moved as it spoke, almost as if it were using ventriloquism.

But before it could finish, Naruto tossed four pieces of grilled meat through the gap in the gate. The meat slid down the Nine-Tails’ tongue and into its throat.

“ROAR! Brat, you—”

Whatever the Nine-Tails said next was drowned out by its deafening roar. Naruto’s ears rang, and his head buzzed. All he could see was the Nine-Tails’ mouth moving.

It took a while for Naruto to recover, and when he did, he couldn’t resist another jab.

“Was it good?”

“ROAR!”

Naruto realized he might have a problem. He couldn’t stop himself from provoking the Nine-Tails, even though he knew the consequences.

Finding a dark corner by the wall, Naruto took out his dragon bed and prepared to sleep. Since he couldn’t leave, he might as well rest here. He had been planning to sleep anyway, and all this wandering had made him even more tired.

“Goodnight, big fox,” Naruto said, giving the Nine-Tails one last tease before lying down.

Naruto knew exactly who and what the Nine-Tails was—its name, Kurama, and the names of all the other tailed beasts. But as the saying goes:

Why are you trying to kill me?

Because you know too much.

Right now, Naruto was still weak. He had to be careful about what he revealed. If he said too much and couldn’t explain it, it would be game over.

For now, it was better to play dumb. When he grew stronger, he could always chalk it up to “a strong intuition.”

The next morning, Naruto woke up in his own room. It seemed his “sleep to escape” method had worked.

After washing up and having breakfast, he went to the rooftop for his morning run. Thanks to his growing age and the benefits of the grilled meat, his body was in excellent shape. He ran two kilometers without breaking a sweat.

His trip to the Nine-Tails’ space the previous night was likely due to the meat. In the game, meat came from monsters—wild boars, sheep, yetis, and dragons.

Dragons came in two types: red and black. If Naruto wasn’t mistaken, red dragons corresponded to physical strength, while black dragons were linked to mental power.

The game’s shop didn’t categorize the meat, so Naruto had to figure it out himself. But to him, it all looked the same—like trying to tell Americans apart unless they had distinctive features.

Dragon meat was incredibly potent. The shop also sold dragon eggs, which were probably even more powerful. However, Naruto couldn’t take them out. Everything else in the shop could be summoned and returned at will, but the eggs were locked away, as if sealed in the inventory.

Naruto continued his daily routine, starting on his Lexington sculpture. But that night, instead of going out for a walk, he lay down at 8 p.m., ready to visit the Nine-Tails again.

Life was short, and Naruto was determined to make the most of it—even if it meant constantly flirting with danger.
