Chapter 4: Goblin
Chapter 4: Goblin
In Quan City, at the Anjia Residential Area, in Li Wu's room.
It was already midnight, and Li Wu was still sitting in front of his computer, busy with something.
However, he wasn't busy playing games. Instead, he was busy looking up information.
Yes, that's right, looking up information! Of course, not the kind of information you might be thinking.
Li Wu is a serious person, and he is looking up serious information.
Previously, in his research with the Golden Finger, Li Wu had temporarily ruled out trying to kill monsters and recharge.
With these two methods, which are related to the Attribute Panel and are mainstream ways to gain advantages, temporarily set aside, Li Wu had to try other approaches.
For example, the Knowledge Stream!
At this moment, he treated the Attribute Panel he saw as a direct manifestation of his knowledge and understanding.
In simpler terms, he assumed that the attributes he saw on the Mini Skeleton were based on what he, or rather his predecessor, knew and understood.
For instance, he knew the Mini Skeleton was called a Mini Skeleton, so the name on the Attribute Panel was "Mini Skeleton."
He knew the Mini Skeleton was of the Undead type, so the Attribute on the Attribute Panel was "Undead."
Whatever he knew appeared on the Attribute Panel.
Of course, there were also things he didn't know, such as Quality, Strength, and Weakness.
For now, Li Wu ignored these.
He assumed that the Attribute Panel could only display the attributes he knew and that these attributes were true.
In this case, because he didn't know how to improve the Mini Skeleton's attributes, its Quality couldn't be enhanced.
To enhance the Mini Skeleton's Quality, Li Wu needed to figure out how the Quality was improved.
If he could figure out how to improve the Mini Skeleton's Quality, this function might be triggered.
This was Li Wu's current hypothesis about the Attribute Panel.
He didn't know if this hypothesis was true, but given the lack of other options, this was the most worthwhile direction for him to try.
So, after determining his direction, Li Wu started to go through the books left by his predecessor, searching for knowledge about training the Mini Skeleton or improving its Quality.
However, he found nothing in his predecessor's books.
Partly because he was in his second year of high school and hadn't learned this yet, and partly because his predecessor was a poor student who disliked studying and had few books about Summon Beasts.
With no other options, Li Wu turned to the internet, hoping to find some methods for training the Mini Skeleton or improving its Quality.
But when Li Wu typed in searches like "Mini Skeleton Training Guide" or "Mini Skeleton Quality Enhancement," he found nothing relevant.
There was hardly any information about skeletons, let alone the Mini Skeleton.
Partly because people generally believed that the Mini Skeleton had no value for cultivation, and partly because it took Li Wu a while to figure out that this world placed a high value on knowledge.
Especially knowledge and experience related to Summon Beasts, which were considered precious wealth.
To obtain this knowledge, one had to purchase it from specialized websites.
Of course, there were free resources, but the useful information was limited. However, with Li Wu's efforts, he did manage to find a somewhat useful piece of knowledge.
It was a Mini Skeleton Training Guide.
A guide that a Summoner had spent years researching and compiling, aimed at making the Mini Skeleton capable of normal activity.
It was far from what Li Wu wanted, such as training the Mini Skeleton, enhancing its Quality, or teaching it skills, but it was the only useful information he could find so far.
"Alright, I'll study this thing first, then head to the school library tomorrow."
As he spoke, Li Wu began to study the training guide.
To his surprise, he discovered that his memory seemed to have improved significantly.
The guide was around a thousand words, and after just one read-through, he had memorized it all. This newfound ability, which he called "Photographic Memory," would make acing his academic courses much easier.
At the same time, Li Wu reached out and touched the mini skeleton, wanting to see if its attributes had changed after reading the guide.
Of course, there was no change.
Li Wu wasn't too disappointed, as he hadn't even started training yet.
"I'll follow this guide first and hope that this little guy's attributes improve after training."
The guide mentioned that bones were required as training materials. Li Wu didn't have any, so he decided to buy some at the vegetable market on his way to school the next day. It was getting late, so he shut off his computer, took off his clothes, and went to bed.
He had a good night's sleep, dreaming of a flawless version of the guide.
However, something kept him awake. The events of the day had been too shocking, leaving him feeling restless.
Adding to his restlessness was the mini skeleton by his bed, which looked particularly eerie in the moonlight.
With no other choice, Li Wu moved the skeleton to the corner of the room.
Finally, without the skeleton in sight, he managed to fall asleep.
The next morning, Li Wu got up, quickly freshened up, and headed to school with a backpack full of books and the mini skeleton.
Initially, he didn't want to bring the skeleton, but as his summon beast, it couldn't be too far from him. Reluctantly, he carried the little burden.
As Li Wu pulled the skeleton out of the house, he bumped into his childhood friend, Lao Lin, not Pang Doudou.
Lao Lin's full name was Lin Jianying, and while he wasn't as average-looking as Li Wu, he was tall and handsome, albeit a bit cold.
Standing beside him was a one-meter-tall goblin, wearing tattered clothes and holding a battle axe. It seemed to be his summon beast, and it looked much more majestic than Li Wu's skeleton, which he had to drag along.
Lin Jianying's face showed a hint of embarrassment.
He had purposely woken up early to avoid Li Wu, but fate had brought them together anyway.
With no other choice, he awkwardly nodded and hurried off. As he passed Li Wu, he moved his lips as if to say something but ended up saying anything.
Clearly, Lin Jianying had mixed feelings, while Li Wu's emotions were simpler.
He even had the leisure to touch Lin Jianying's goblin and check its attributes.
