Chapter 399: It's Just a Deformed Horse with Horns!
Chapter 399: It’s Just a Deformed Horse with Horns!
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Cedric Diggory felt a bit embarrassed.
After a moment’s thought, he, as the captain of Hufflepuff, proposed to Madam Hooch that the results of this match be voided, and that Gryffindor and Hufflepuff could have a rematch in a few days.
Cedric Diggory’s generous gesture left Harry, Wood, and George speechless.
Although they were eager for victory, they still had their pride, and thus, without much hesitation, they rejected Cedric’s proposal.
As the referee, Madam Hooch confirmed the wishes of both sides and then announced that Cedric Diggory had caught the Golden Snitch, ending the match with a valid result: Hufflepuff won.
Despite their tough stance during the concession, when Madam Hooch officially announced the result, Fred, George, and the others all became dejected.
Wood turned away, dazed, and left without responding to the calls of his teammates, needing some time to himself.
Watching Wood’s back, Harry felt immense guilt. This was the first time he had lost a match.
Worse still, he had fainted during the game, while all the other Quidditch players were fine. Harry couldn’t help but wonder if he was as fragile as Malfoy had said.
“Over! We’re now more than a hundred points behind. Unless Hufflepuff loses to Ravenclaw next, and we beat both Ravenclaw and Slytherin in a row, we have little chance of winning this year,” Angelina sighed, calculating the odds and finding them grim.
Relying on the mistakes of the opponents wasn’t a good strategy, and both Ravenclaw and Slytherin were strong teams. Winning two consecutive matches against them would be no easy feat.
Fred tugged at Angelina’s sleeve and shook his head, signaling her to stop adding pressure to Harry.
“Alright, Harry! You’ve never missed the Snitch before. This was just an accident. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and no one blames you!” George forced a smile and patted Harry’s shoulder, trying to comfort him.
“Right! One loss isn’t the end of the world. We still have two more matches, don’t we? I believe you can win in the end!” Ivan also chimed in to boost their morale.
If he remembered correctly, in the original timeline, the Quidditch Cup was still won by the Gryffindor team this year!
Although Ivan couldn’t recall the exact details, he was confident that they wouldn’t be defeated by this setback and would soon bounce back and win.
Encouraged by the others, Harry’s mood improved somewhat, but he still couldn’t shake off the feeling of guilt over falling from the sky.
After Ivan finished speaking, George and Fred suddenly remembered something. They exchanged a glance, and their previously dim eyes sparkled with hope.
Both recalled Ivan’s incredible flying skills and his amazing throwing technique. Winning back the more than a hundred points lost in one match, or even doubling that, would be easy for Ivan!
However, neither George nor Fred said anything, as Ivan had clearly stated multiple times that he would not participate in the matches.
If they asked him now, he would likely refuse again. So, they decided to discuss with Wood and the others later about how to persuade him.
"Alright, everyone, please quiet down. I have one more thing to say."
At that moment, Professor Mcgonagall's voice rang out on the Quidditch pitch, drawing everyone's attention.
Professor Mcgonagall cleared her throat and looked at Ivan before addressing everyone.
"This time, thanks to Hals' timely intervention during the Dementor outbreak, we managed to avoid any injuries. Therefore, I will award Gryffindor House one hundred points!"
After Professor Mcgonagall finished speaking, the entire pitch fell into a brief silence, with all eyes fixed on Ivan.
The next moment, thunderous applause erupted across the Quidditch pitch.
Wizards from every house clapped enthusiastically together!
Earlier, over a hundred Dementors had been drifting above the Quidditch pitch, and their presence had a profound impact. All joy seemed to be drained away, leaving only painful memories.
But Ivan's powerful Patronus Charm was like the dawn's first light, rescuing them from the pain and despair. Even the Slytherins clapped for Ivan.
The Gryffindor young wizards were the happiest. They had shaken off their previous low spirits, and their hands turned red from clapping. Ivan's heroic act for the entire school filled them with pride.
More people gathered around, eagerly asking questions.
"Hals! What magic did you use to defeat those monsters? I saw a glowing Unicorn, did you summon it? Oh my, it was so beautiful!"
"That's the Patronus Charm! A highly advanced spell that only a few wizards can master! Many adult wizards can't even do it", said a senior Slytherin, speaking with pride.
He had been the one to cast the Crow Patronus on the field to fight the Dementors, but his Crow-shaped Patronus was far less impressive than Ivan's Unicorn, both in appearance and power.
Professor Mcgonagall also curiously asked Ivan about his unique Unicorn Patronus. Among the many wizards she had seen, only Dumbledore's Patronus took the form of a magical creature.
Ivan couldn't possibly reveal the secret of his bloodline fusion, so he shrugged nonchalantly.
"Professor, I don't know why it's like this. I've always suspected it might just be a deformed horse with a horn!"
If he could help it, Ivan wouldn't want to expose the form of his Patronus.
But the situation had been urgent, with many of his friends on the Quidditch pitch.
George and Fred, as Quidditch players, were particularly close to the diving Dementors. To prevent more injuries and a large-scale riot, Ivan had to take action.
This time was different from the last. He couldn't ride an Alicorn in the sky to deal with those evil creatures, so he had to manifest the Unicorn Shadow to drive away the Dementors.
Fortunately, the situation was much different from the previous two years, and exposing himself wouldn't cause much trouble.
Not many wizards knew about bloodline fusion, and given his young age, those who did know might simply think he had an extraordinary talent, awakening some latent bloodline powers.
