Chapter 397: The Bane of Dementors
Chapter 397: The Bane of Dementors
The Dementors, though not the brightest, still have some memory.
This powerful and unique white giant beast quickly reminded them of the two previous beatings they had suffered, and they immediately lost any will to resist. After all, no matter what, they couldn't win.
Realizing this, countless Dementors fled in panic, pursued by the Unicorn Shadow, not daring to linger on the Quidditch Pitch for a moment.
The Patronuses that had been suppressed by the Dementors quickly regrouped and, emboldened by the Unicorn Shadow, pursued the fleeing Dementors with renewed vigor.
Seeing this, Snape secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Ivan had acted a few seconds later, he would have had no choice but to reveal his own Patronus.
After all, there were many students on the Quidditch Pitch who were powerless against the Dementors, and as a professor at Hogwarts, he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.
However, as he watched the Unicorn-shaped Patronus, Snape felt a mix of surprise and uncertainty.
Being somewhat familiar with the Patronus Charm, he knew that a wizard's Patronus would take the form of different animals based on the caster's personality and desires.
While strong emotions could cause a Patronus to change form, it was generally impossible for a Patronus to manifest as a magical creature.
The only exception he had ever seen was Dumbledore's Phoenix Patronus.
Snape never expected Ivan's Patronus to be so unique, and it seemed that this magical creature form was much more powerful than a normal Patronus. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been able to so easily drive away over a hundred Dementors!
On the other side, Madam Hooch slowly lowered her wand after rescuing Harry, her gaze full of admiration as she looked at Ivan.
The young wizard who had once been determined to become a Quidditch champion in class had unknowingly become so powerful.
Madam Hooch knew that if she had faced over a hundred Dementors gathered together, she wouldn't have been certain of driving them all away.
The young wizards of Gryffindor, seeing the Dementors that had been threatening to attack them now being driven back by Ivan's Patronus, gathered around him, cheering loudly. Even students from other houses joined in.
"You're amazing, Hals! You're our savior!"
"Gryffindor's Hero!"
"No, you're Hogwarts' Hero!"
Ivan had just lowered his wand when several older Gryffindor students picked him up and threw him into the air.
Hearing the continuous cheers, Ivan felt a bit helpless. It was just driving away a group of Dementors, not some big deal.
*Ding, a new Legendary Event has been generated!*
As Ivan was thinking, a system notification sounded in his mind.
Ivan was somewhat surprised as he checked it.
*Legendary Title: Bane of Dementors*
*Legendary Status: 1*
*Legendary Event: You used a powerful Patronus Charm to repeatedly defeat large numbers of Dementors, leaving them with a deep-seated fear.*
*Note: Your appearance and unique Patronus will be remembered among the Dementors, and they will never want to see you again!*
That's not bad; I don't want to see these evil creatures either!
Ivan smirked, silently complaining in his mind, but the unexpected gain of some Legendary Status made him quite happy.
However, his good mood didn't last long, as another task activation notification interrupted him.
When Ivan heard the name of the task, he had a foreboding feeling. Sure enough, when he opened the task interface, it was exactly as he had guessed.
【Task: Dark Minions
Task Objective: Possess a Dementor army (0/100)
Task Reward: Three points of Legendary Value
Task Description: After teaching these Dementors a lesson for daring to offend you, your kindness still leads you to forgive their ignorance and foolishness, and give them a precious opportunity to swear their loyalty!
You need to form a Dementor army. They are the claws of darkness, the embodiment of fear, and can assist you in punishing your enemies and spreading terror.
Note: Think about it, fools. Tell me who you should be loyal to? —Ivan-Hals's words.】
After a quick glance, Ivan closed the task bar with a blank expression, dismissing this task along with some other unreliable ones.
What a joke? He hated Dementors and had no desire to spread fear.
Just as Ivan was distracted for a moment, a spotted cat-shaped Patronus suddenly flew over from the distant castle, circled in the air, and then disappeared.
Not long after, Professor Mcgonagall appeared at the entrance of the Quidditch pitch.
Looking at the gathered young wizards and the Ivan who had been thrown high into the air, Professor Mcgonagall had some suspicions, but she still spoke in a stern voice.
"Someone just informed me that the Dementors guarding the school have rebelled. Is this true? Where are those Dementors?"
Seeing Professor Mcgonagall approach, the enthusiastic young wizards finally put Ivan down, making way for her.
Ivan straightened his slightly disheveled clothes and briefly recounted what had just happened to Professor Mcgonagall.
Upon learning that a group of Dementors had indeed infiltrated the area during the Quidditch match to attack students, causing Harry to fall from a great height, Professor Mcgonagall's face was filled with anger.
"How dare they do such a thing?!" Professor Mcgonagall was furious and immediately promised Ivan and the others that she would report today's incident to the Ministry of Magic and seek justice for everyone.
Meanwhile, some of the Gryffindor young wizards recalled how Snape had been on the field but did nothing during the Dementors' rebellion. They were agitated and began to report this to Professor Mcgonagall.
"You say that Severus stood by and did nothing, ignoring your plight? That's impossible!" Professor Mcgonagall shook her head firmly, refusing to believe that Snape would do such a thing!
"Professor! We all saw it with our own eyes! If Ivan hadn't driven those Dementors away, they would have killed us all!" Ron angrily reported Snape's misconduct.
Because he had been distracted by Harry falling, Ron was unaware that Snape had saved Harry. He only saw Madam Hooch riding her broomstick up to catch Harry.
Ron thought Snape had been watching from the sidelines the entire time, allowing Harry to fall off his broom and be attacked by the Dementors!
As he spoke, Ron looked around, seeking support from the other students to convince Professor Mcgonagall that he was telling the truth.
However, none of the young wizards responded. Instead, they looked at him with fear, and George even gave him a discreet look of warning.
