Chapter 396: The Immortal Gate in the Starry Sky (9K) (Part 1)
Chapter 396: The Immortal Gate in the Starry Sky (9K) (Part 1)
Li Hao’s face was twisted with agony, filled with a bloodthirsty and murderous impulse.
He suddenly recalled the Dragon Saint standing before the ancient well earlier, whose expression was brutal and savage, seemingly influenced by the Power within the well.
“It can even affect my Soul Spirit, including my Holy Dao Will!”
Li Hao was somewhat alarmed. This violent and frenzied emotion seemed to emanate from the roots of his Dao Will, like an unstoppable Power draped over him, guiding him. If this continued, he might lose control and suffer catastrophic consequences.
Li Hao immediately used the Transcend to Immortality Power to merge his mind with Heaven and Earth, a technique known as Heaven and Earth Union in the Tianren Realm.
The savage emotions gradually dissipated as his Soul Spirit and consciousness spread out into the vast expanse of Heaven and Earth. Unless this Power could influence the entire surrounding world, it would not affect him.
Once he regained his composure, Li Hao glanced at the Dragon Saint, who was attacking the small courtyard in a frenzy. Instead of retaliating, he quickly retreated toward the statue.
At the same time, the auras of the Primordial Ancestor and the god king enveloped the area from both sides.
However, their auras were concealed, and they did not reveal themselves.
Li Hao knew they had already observed what was happening here.
“Do you think you can escape? You can’t! You will all die!”
The Dragon Saint roared madly, seemingly out of control, with blood-red eyes and scales glowing with a crimson light.
It swooped down toward Li Hao, intent on leveling the small courtyard. However, its Power was blocked by the silver-gray light emanating from the courtyard.
Seeing this, Li Hao was certain that the Dragon Saint had lost control, deeply influenced by that Power. He swiftly moved to the statue.
Upon closer inspection, the statue seemed peculiar, adhering to a wall with no altar around it, as if it did not belong there.
Divine Light burst from Li Hao’s eyes, allowing him to see the intricate details within the statue, where a faint immortal power emanated.
His eyes flickered, and he placed his palm on the statue, releasing Power to probe inside.
Soon, Li Hao sensed something unusual.
Behind the statue, there seemed to be a Spatial Rift.
The faint Power was seeping through that crack.
A hint of surprise flashed in Li Hao’s eyes as he looked at the statue again, realizing it acted like a stone block, seemingly used to block something.
Boom!
The Dragon Saint’s body slammed into the courtyard, bouncing off the Silver Light. Its roar was deafening, as if it had been driven to unleash its ferocity and savagery, determined to destroy the courtyard’s restriction and engage in a fierce battle.
Li Hao, hearing the continuous vibrations, felt the terrifying Power of the blood in the well. The mighty Dragon Supreme Sage had become like a raging madman.
If not for his ability to merge his Soul Spirit with Heaven and Earth, he would likely have become extremely irritable and prone to anger.
Li Hao did not linger and tried to move the statue.
“Could this lead to the Immortal God Path?”
Li Hao’s eyes sparkled. The faint Immortal Power gave him an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
The legend pursued by the Saints of the Thirty-Three Heavens was right before him, within arm’s reach.
Just as he was about to move the statue, it seemed to come to life, its face radiating anger and authority, staring down at Li Hao.
Li Hao felt a jolt, his body stiffening as if he were a mere ant before a deity, overwhelmed by a suffocating fear.
His hand trembled, unsure whether to stop or pull back.
The statue’s eyes gazed down at Li Hao with severity and coldness, as if reprimanding him.
The Intimidation was silent but weighed on Li Hao’s heart like ten thousand mountains.
Li Hao’s body remained rigid as he slowly withdrew his hand, sensing that if he continued, something terrible might happen.
This Sage intuition bordered on prophecy, not a mere illusion.
As Li Hao pondered in silence, the Dragon Saint’s attacks grew more ferocious. At this moment, the two concealed auras emerged.
The god king and the Primordial Ancestor immediately sensed each other, having remained hidden to observe the situation.
Their observation revealed only Li Hao and the Dragon Saint.
The Dragon Saint’s condition was dire, seemingly deranged, causing a great commotion.
There were three diverging paths. When Primordial Ancestor and God King saw each other, they knew they had chosen the wrong ones, leaving only the path before them as the correct one.
"Dragon Saint, please calm down. Can you tell us what’s going on here?"
Primordial Ancestor appeared, trying to soothe Dragon Saint to prevent it from making too much noise and attracting the attention of the other Sages.
God King also revealed himself, his face cold and stern, his eyes fixed on Dragon Saint with the clear intention of intervening at any moment.
Seeing these two finally show themselves, Li Hao felt a flicker of hope and stopped his actions. Although the statue behind him might lead to the Immortal God Path, his instincts warned him of the danger and told him not to proceed alone.
"Why should I tell you? If you want to find the Immortal God Path, you'll have to rely on your own abilities!"
Dragon Saint growled, showing no courtesy despite Primordial Ancestor’s calm demeanor. However, his rationality managed to keep him from lashing out even more.
Primordial Ancestor’s eyes flickered. Dragon Saint’s behavior was highly unusual; in the past, he would never have spoken to him like this.
"Hao Tian, what’s going on here?"
Primordial Ancestor turned to Li Hao for an explanation.
Li Hao’s mind raced, and he spoke honestly: "The two of you, Dragon Saint has gone mad. He’s been contaminated by the blood water in the well, causing his mind to become unstable."
This matched what Primordial Ancestor and God King had observed. After hearing Li Hao’s words, both of them glanced at the ancient well in the courtyard, sensing a deep and violent energy emanating from it, which had also tainted Dragon Saint.
"What are you standing there for?"
Primordial Ancestor asked with a faint smile, his tone seemingly casual.
Li Hao hesitated, his face showing a mix of reluctance and resolve. He then gritted his teeth and said, somewhat unwillingly:
"The Immortal God Path seems to be behind that statue."
"Oh?"
Hearing Li Hao’s words, a glimmer of interest flashed in Primordial Ancestor’s and God King’s eyes. Even if the information was false, the mere mention of the "Immortal God Path" sent a ripple through their hearts.
In fact, before asking, Primordial Ancestor had already subtly sensed the statue and detected a faint, vast, and ethereal Power hidden within it.
Li Hao’s words confirmed his suspicions, and he said, "I didn’t expect the Immortal God Path to be here. Hao Tian, finding the Immortal God Path is a great act of Virtue. All Heavens will thank you for it."
Li Hao shook his head. "Even without me, someone else would eventually find it. But finding it won’t do any good; I feel there’s danger inside."
Hearing this, Primordial Ancestor’s lingering doubts dissipated. His figure flickered, and he crossed the Return to the Abyss, moving through the flowing void to reach Li Hao in an instant.
Li Hao’s face changed. The speed of this Body Movement Technique was astonishing, far surpassing Xu Zu’s spatial prowess.
If it came to a fight, escape would be futile; he would have to fight to the death.
As Primordial Ancestor approached Li Hao, God King also used his sword to cleave a passage, arriving before Li Hao without falling behind.
Primordial Ancestor glanced at the statue, his pupils seeming to transform into spirals. His Origin Eye could trace the past, see the threads of Karma, and perceive the marks of time.
However, the statue had existed for an incredibly long time, and the span of time he could trace was limited. To him, the statue appeared unchanged, but the Origin Eye had another function: it could perceive the essence of all things.
This was the reason Primordial Ancestor had been the first to Ascend alone in the Ancient Era.
As he probed the essence, he immediately saw a crack behind the statue, from which a vast and ethereal aura emanated.
This was not the aura of the Saint Path. He had seen and felt this aura before, engraved in his soul. At that moment, he recognized it instantly—it was the aura of an Immortal Deity!
The Immortal God Path!
Primordial Ancestor’s heart trembled, a spark of excitement flickering in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it, maintaining a composed demeanor.
He nodded slightly and said, "Indeed, there is a possibility that the Immortal God Path lies behind this statue. However, it seems to be dangerous. The path to Immortal Deity will lead us out of this world and into the realm of Immortal Deities. Perhaps it’s the pressure from that world..."
He was muttering to himself, but in reality, he was speaking to the God King.
The God King's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes were fixed on the statue, turning pitch black. The Eye of Destruction allowed him to see inside the statue as well.
"Since it's the Immortal God Path, let me go first!"
At that moment, a roar echoed from above the small courtyard. The Dragon Saint glared fiercely at Li Hao and declared, "Primordial Ancestor, God King, you may proceed, but he cannot. He killed the Supreme Sage, and he is too dangerous. He possesses an unparalleled Divine Weapon, which must be surrendered!"
As he spoke, his body shrank and descended into the courtyard, rushing toward the three of them.
Hearing the Dragon Saint's words, the Primordial Ancestor and the God King were taken aback, glancing at Li Hao.
Killed the Supreme Sage?
Him?
Li Hao wore a bitter smile, looking helpless but making no attempt to explain.
"You killed the Supreme Sage?"
The Primordial Ancestor asked in a low, doubtful voice.
Li Hao shook his head. "The Dragon Saint is mad, spouting nonsense. Even if I had the will, I lack the ability."
His words were partly true, aligning with the Primordial Ancestor's thoughts. He knew the Supreme Sage had designs on Li Hao, but with the Immortal God Path imminent, he had no interest in getting involved. Even if the Supreme Sage reached the Divine Realm, it wouldn't hinder him, for he possessed far more than the Incense Deity Realm's power.
The Supreme Sage's intentions toward Li Hao weren't surprising, and even if other Supreme Sages had warned him, it wasn't out of the question.
"Has the Supreme Sage caused you trouble?"
The Primordial Ancestor asked.
Li Hao nodded. "But I managed to escape by luck. Fortunately, the environment here is complex..."
"Enough chatter. The Immortal God Path is right before us. Will you open it or not?"
The God King interrupted Li Hao, not interested in his explanations. In his view, Li Hao, no matter how monstrous, could not have killed the Supreme Sage.
While Li Hao's defeat of the Star Sage was shocking, it was just one victory. Compared to the Supreme Sage, he still fell short. Moreover, the Supreme Sage was one of the most formidable among his peers, especially in terms of his physical body, surpassing even the Dragon Saint. No matter how monstrous Li Hao was, he couldn't have killed the Supreme Sage.
Defeating the Supreme Sage and killing the Supreme Sage were two different things. The Supreme Sage wasn't stupid; if he couldn't win, he could escape, and he had countless ways to save himself. It was impossible for him to be killed.
Even the God King found it extremely difficult to kill a Supreme Sage, requiring immense effort and careful planning. If the Supreme Sage decided to flee, it might be impossible to kill him.
Hearing the God King's urging, the Primordial Ancestor's thoughts returned to the statue. However, being cautious by nature, he still asked Li Hao, "The Dragon Saint mentioned you have an unparalleled Divine Weapon. Did you find it in the Ancient Hall?"
"It's just a broken blade, useful only for its sharpness."
Li Hao knew the others were suspicious. Blaming the Dragon Saint's madness wasn't entirely believable, so he produced the broken blade, showing it to the two of them before sending it slicing toward the approaching Dragon Saint.
The Dragon Saint, enraged, roared, "You're courting death!"
Blood light surged from his body, and his hand transformed into a dragon claw, striking down at Li Hao.
But the broken blade cut through the blood light, piercing his hand, and then arced back to Li Hao's palm.
"What a swift blade!"
The Primordial Ancestor's eyes narrowed, and the God King's gaze flickered. Both were surprised to find that Li Hao truly possessed a Divine Weapon, and it was incredibly sharp.
They knew the Dragon Saint's physical body was extremely formidable, ranking among the strongest in the All Heavens, though not quite on par with the Supreme Sage.
Yet, the broken blade had easily pierced his hand, demonstrating its terrifying sharpness.
By the time the blade returned to Li Hao's hand, the Dragon Saint's hand had already regenerated. He lunged forward, ready to face Li Hao in combat.
Primordial Ancestor furrowed his brow, concerned that Dragon Saint's rampage might affect the statue. His Holy Palace suddenly manifested, and the flow of time seemed to slow down abruptly. Immediately after, Dragon Saint's overwhelming aura began to wane.
Li Hao's expression changed slightly; this was the first time he had seen Primordial Ancestor take action.
The Holy Palace seemed to have a time-reversing effect, which was quite terrifying.
"Quiet, if you don't want to die!"
God King also turned and sternly rebuked him.
Dragon Saint, suppressed by Primordial Ancestor, had an unstable aura. A phantom of the Dragon Emperor appeared behind him. He panted heavily, his eyes bloodshot, teetering on the edge of madness.
"You're protecting him? You will regret it!"
Primordial Ancestor ignored him and instead looked at the broken blade in Li Hao's hand. The moment Li Hao had drawn it, Primordial Ancestor had sensed that it was a fragment of a broken Weapon, lacking a soul.
"This Weapon of yours is so sharp, it might be a fragment of an Immortal Artifact!"
Primordial Ancestor whispered.
"Perhaps, but for now, it's just very sharp."
Li Hao said, revealing the broken blade to showcase some of his strength, hoping to increase his standing in their eyes and prevent them from acting rashly.
God King glanced at it and then looked away. He had already seen the broken blade's role—it was sharp but otherwise useless.
Even though it had pierced Dragon Saint's hand earlier, it was meaningless. It couldn't kill a Supreme Sage.
Even if it pierced him a thousand times, he would heal instantly.
"It's just a broken fragment, but it poses a significant threat to other Three Calamities Sages."
God King shook his head and glanced at Li Hao, thinking his luck was quite good.
However, God King had also found a treasure in a different Exploration branch.
"Once we reach the Immortal God Path, you might have a chance to repair it into a true Immortal Artifact."
Primordial Ancestor said to Li Hao.
But as just a fragment, it wasn't as valuable to him as his own Seven Tribulations Imperial Weapon. Aside from its sharpness, his Imperial Weapon possessed special powers and tribulation power, enough to threaten the Supreme Holy Capital.
"Dragon Saint, since you want to enter the Immortal God Path, you can lead the way."
Primordial Ancestor said to Dragon Saint.
Dragon Saint glared at Li Hao and the others. "There are dangers in there. You want to use me as a test subject? Forget it!"
"You have no choice!"
God King coldly snorted, and without a word, he and Primordial Ancestor reached a tacit agreement. Though they were each other's greatest enemies, they moved in unison to subdue Dragon Saint.
Li Hao took a step back, inwardly sighing. Indeed, interests were eternal.
Even after thousands of years as sworn enemies, they could temporarily put aside their hatred.
"Why me? Why not him?!"
Dragon Saint roared in outrage and fury.
His emotions were extremely volatile, his eyes bloodshot with resentment and hatred.
"Because you're too noisy."
God King coldly replied. Divine Flames surged from the ground beneath his feet. His Holy Palace and Primordial Ancestor's Holy Palace merged at that moment, blending the powers of origin and destruction. The Dragon Emperor's phantom behind Dragon Saint immediately dissipated, and the Blood Light around him was compressed into his scales. His eyes briefly cleared.
"You..."
Dragon Saint spat blood in anger. The others didn't believe Li Hao could kill a Supreme Sage, so the weakest link should have been Li Hao. Yet, they chose him.
He erupted in resistance, but with Primordial Ancestor and God King, the two most formidable beings in All Heavens, working together, the divine realm's eruption and absolute power suppression left Dragon Saint's Holy Palace shattered and his body restrained. He couldn't even resist.
Li Hao felt a cold sweat break out on his palm. If God King and Primordial Ancestor were to suppress him, he would be helpless.
Together, they were likely the only ones in All Heavens who could suppress anyone.
Unfortunately, there was only one king.
"Open!"
Primordial Ancestor raised his hand and lightly slapped the statue. The statue, as before, seemed to come to life, emitting a tremendous aura of intimidation.
Primordial Ancestor's expression shifted slightly, but his extensive knowledge allowed him to discern that the statue was not alive. It merely retained a fragment of its owner's temporal traces, serving to intimidate.
