Chapter 396: The False Deity
Chapter 396: The False Deity
The Pantheon?
Monica's expression darkened instantly.
As a vampire, and a pure-blooded one at that, she was a target for the Pantheon's purge.
Barrow raised an eyebrow at this revelation.
He didn't know Monica was a member of the Blood Alliance, but her expression gave it all away.
The Night Watch was unaware of the feud between the Blood Alliance and the Pantheon, but they knew the hatred between the two was irreconcilable.
A deadly feud!
Only one of them could exist.
The Pantheon even placed the task of eliminating vampires alongside the resurrection of the gods, indicating the depth of their animosity.
Monica's beautiful eyes sparkled as she asked, "You're an Ancient God, but can you die?"
"Being a deity doesn't necessarily equate to power," said the little girl holding an apple, spreading her hands. "I'm proof of that."
"I'm sealed here as evidence."
"That person outside isn't particularly strong. He's just a god who obtained divine power that wasn't rightfully his. But because I'm sealed, I can only passively take the blows, and eventually, my divinity will dissipate."
"That's right."
She took a bite of the apple and spoke calmly. "You can call me Es."
Es?
The three of them exchanged glances.
"Um..." Blaze cautiously raised his hand. "Are you really a god?"
"Obviously," Es shrugged, her clear and innocent eyes settling on him. "Haven't you mortals ever witnessed divine signs?"
As she spoke, she pointed, and invisible particles in the air began to coalesce in a complex manner.
In the blink of an eye, a lively rabbit hopped into existence.
"Only a deity can create living beings, but..." Es trailed off, "...it comes at a cost."
Blaze's mouth hung open in shock, his eyes wide with astonishment. His mind was in a tumult, and for a moment, he couldn't find his voice.
The other two, being Supernal Beings, had a certain level of acceptance and didn't react as strongly.
"Es, the Ancient God," Barrow asked, "If your very existence is divine, why can Miss Monica's blood break the seal?"
"You wouldn't understand," Es said, her eyes widening at his words. She stared intently at Monica, "The blood within her is the bane of all deities. Theoretically, she shouldn't even exist."
"The gods would never allow her kind to exist!"
"But her bloodline has also been cursed by the gods, ensuring she can never bear offspring."
Huh?
Blaze abruptly turned to look at Monica.
Monica's face turned ashen.
"She can't bear children?" Barrow frowned. "How is that possible...?"
"That's right," Monica took a deep breath. "Pure-blooded vampires cannot perpetuate the Blood Alliance. Their numbers are fixed, and only when a member of the clan willingly gives up everything, can a new pure-blooded vampire be born."
"My mother passed away the day I was born."
"Es!"
She clenched her teeth, her eyes fixed on the Ancient God.
"I can help you break the seal, but you must swear to let us go and promise never to harm the vampires again, nor reveal my secret, and guarantee that you'll keep your word..."
"So many conditions?" Es pursed her lips. "Alright."
"I agree!"
"You are guilty!"
The Hymnist, Seraphiel, raised the staff in his hand and unleashed a shower of white light that descended upon the seal.
"Boom!"
The ground shook violently.
Dark Wizard Abbott, holding a scroll, carefully observed the situation around him.
His actions were unnecessary.
The only pure life form he could sense was the Hymnist, Seraphiel, enveloped in holy light.
Divine light shone down, and the Holy Beetle, resurrected from its petrified state, quickly turned to ash. The domain of holy light prevented any other energy from interfering.
Even as a Tier 3 Wizard, he couldn't do anything and had to wait helplessly for it to end.
Hmm?
As the tremors subsided, Hymnist Seraphiel frowned and took a step forward.
"Escape?"
"The seal is right here. Where do you think you're going to run to?"
"You are guilty!"
Divine light descended once more.
Below, a massive shadow could be seen struggling to move away, its size covering thousands of acres. Upon closer inspection, it was a colossal, twisted, and decayed corpse.
The divine light fell, and the corpse disintegrated.
Seraphiel's divine light seemed insignificant compared to the massive body, but with perseverance, even an iron rod could be sharpened into a needle. Against an 'Ancient God' unable to resist, victory was assured.
Through Dark Wizard Abbott's perception, the 'Ancient God's' corpse, bearing the seal, struggled to wriggle away, making futile attempts to escape.
Seraphiel relentlessly pursued the 'Ancient God' with his divine light.
With his strength, he couldn't discern the details of the battle between the two deities, but as an observer, he was the first to sense something amiss.
Huh?
As if sensing something, Abbott's expression changed slightly.
"Seraphiel..."
"Boom!"
Before he could finish his sentence, the massive shadow below surged back, engulfing both of them in an instant.
A 'Deity' and a Tier 3 Wizard were caught off guard, unable to retaliate.
Damn! Abbott's heart raced, and the scroll in his hand instantly unfurled.
"Buzz..."
A dim glow enveloped them, forcibly creating a small space within the shadow's grasp.
The scroll in Abbott's hand was a Tier 4 Artifact from the Pantheon's treasures, and it was through this object that Abbott could ascend to a Tier 3 Wizard despite the inability to dispel the Celestial Plane's effects.
"Damn it!"
Cursing under his breath, Dark Wizard Abbott took out an envelope, pricked his finger, and quickly wrote an address on it.
Immediately, the envelope emitted a faint spiritual light, enveloped him, and then turned to ash, causing him to vanish.
Artifact - Teleportation Envelope!
A one-time artifact that could teleport a person to a fixed location.
As Abbott disappeared, darkness breached the scroll's defense and lunged towards his previous position.
"Huh?"
A soft exclamation sounded.
Apparently, Ancient God Es hadn't expected a Tier 3 Wizard to escape within the domain's attack.
However, this wasn't important to him. Capturing Hymnist Seraphiel was the priority, and dealing with the Dark Wizard was merely an afterthought.
"Ugh..."
Looking at the scroll in his hand, Es revealed a peculiar smile and gently tossed it forward.
"Swish!"
The scroll unfurled, revealing a scenic landscape of mountains and rivers, which then rolled towards a certain direction, engulfing the two who couldn't dodge in time.
"Es!"
Monica, holding onto Blaze, transformed into dozens of bats, struggling desperately.
"You broke your word! You'll be cursed!"
"I only said I'd let you go, not how I'd do it. And I didn't say I'd kill you." Es shrugged. As a Chaos Ancient God, he had ways to circumvent his promises:
"Besides..."
"The place I chose for you isn't bad. The scenery, water, and food are all sufficient. Live well within it."
With a faint smile, he pounced on the hymnist shrouded in darkness.
"False God!"
"It's my turn!"
