Chapter 395: The Great Ambush! Wibbur vs. Whitebeard Pirates!
Chapter 395: The Great Ambush! Wibbur vs. Whitebeard Pirates!
The lack of Perception Color could be an advantage for some, but it's also a relative weakness that can turn into a disadvantage.
Moriah's ability development is not yet at the level of freely controlling shadows.
He can only use the shadows of non-living entities in the vicinity, employing them as his own to attack.
However, there were too many shadows in the forest, so many that he could grab them effortlessly. While his own shadow was used to bind Joze, the countless others still served as his means of attack.
Whether it was the enhanced 'Shadow Box' or the 'Shadow Coffin,' his arbitrary use of 'Shadow Warriors,' or the sudden 'Shadow Mage' that pierced through someone's chest, he had more than enough shadows to wield.
Vista, a renowned swordsman on the high seas, and Joze, a seasoned pirate with formidable defense, could not be considered weak.
Even Ulki, with his record of defeating one of the Four Emperors, and Hawkins, possibly stronger than Ulki, would eventually succumb in a prolonged battle.
With Moriah added to the mix, it would take a significant amount of time and some sacrifices to defeat the two.
But the environment played into Moriah's hands. He had enough shadows to bind Joze and inflict severe damage on Vista.
Without Perception Color, the swordsman's senses, no matter how sharp, would be focused on Moriah himself, making it impossible to detect the shadows sneaking up from behind.
Shadows inherently possess stealth, and the swordsman was not a physique-oriented fighter, lacking the heightened body sensitivity of martial arts experts.
Moriah showed no mercy, aiming directly for lethal moves.
This was his grand display of power after his recovery, using his two heads to announce to the world that the Western Sea Hero still stood strong!
While some rejoiced, others were in distress.
Take Renitiah, for example, who found herself in a deep forest of trees. With a hammer, she smashed through the intertwined roots that resembled a barrier, sending them flying with the force of her strike.
"Damn it! Why are there so many trees?" she grumbled, baring her small fangs in frustration.
She had cleared a space around her, having mysteriously arrived in this forest, only to be attacked by an overgrowth of trees. Her quick reflexes had saved her from being hit.
Renitiah, lacking Armament Color, relied solely on her abilities for offense. The dense forest was impenetrable to her sight.
If not for her concern for her companions who might be in the forest, she would have set the entire place ablaze.
"Big Sis, do you want to keep clearing the area?" Wibbur asked, approaching with a makeshift longsword in hand, his expression a mix of innocence and foolishness.
Along with Renitiah, Wibbur had also been teleported, finding himself perched on her shoulder.
"You idiot!" Renitiah struck him on the head with her hammer, exasperated. "Can't you disable your ability?!"
Wibbur, one of the Seven Seas Admirals, had been invited by Sage and promptly joined the Great Admiral Corps as one of the Three Calamities.
The Three Calamities were associated with Sage's signature elements: thunder, storms, and whirlpools.
Whether it was bad luck or not, these elements had become his symbols.
Thunder was Sage's newfound strength in the New World, amplified by his increased misfortune.
Lily, known as 'Thunder Aspect,' embodied this power.
Whirlpools, caused by stormy weather on the sea, symbolized the relentless downpour.
Moriah, the 'Rain Aspect,' was given this moniker.
It seemed odd, but Moriah's shadows were also relentless, and he could create an endless stream of zombies like rain if he wished.
So, it fit quite well.
This was just an internal code; externally, he was still known as the 'Shadow Mage.'
The storm, an old acquaintance, had been raging ever since Sage obtained his ship, symbolizing immense oppression and power, a true representation of strength.
The codename 'Wind Aspect' was given to Wibbur.
Sage himself had once said that Wibbur's Perception Color was average, but his Armament Color could unleash extreme power.
Someone with such abilities could easily defend against any opponent's power.
So, Renitia, sitting on Wibbur's shoulder, should have been protected by this Armament Color as well.
But what happened?
Not only was she teleported into the forest, but Wibbur himself was also affected.
"Ouch," Wibbur scratched his head and whined, "I forgot to use my Intimidation, big sis."
Bang, bang, bang! Renitia angrily struck him with three more hammers.
"Why don't you forget about your own head while you're at it!"
"That scar on your neck must be from a head transplant, right? Did they give you a dumber head instead?!" Renitia shouted. "You forgot to use your Intimidation, so next time, you might as well forget how to attack! I say you forget your head entirely and let the enemies at sea claim your bounty!"
"Ouch, I know I was wrong, big sis," Wibbur cradled his head and crouched down, his seven-meter-tall body curling up like an oversized hamster.
"If you forget again, just dunk your head in the sea and let the seawater wash your brain!" Renitia glared at him and took out a Life Card. "Forget it, let's go find Sage."
Bang, bang!
Just as she said this, a burst of fire suddenly erupted from the depths of the dark forest ahead.
"Hmm?"
Hearing the noise, Renitia turned her head and saw two cannonballs bursting out of the forest, reaching her in an instant.
"Dynamic Brake!"
At that moment, Renitia extended her small hand forward, and tiny sparks of electricity danced on her fingers. Under the influence of her ability, the two cannonballs, still carrying their momentum, lost their propulsion and momentarily hung in the air.
"Dynamic Smash!"
Renitia extended her mechanical hammer, twisted the handle, and the hammerhead erupted with sparks, striking the two cannonballs with force.
Whoosh! The cannonballs, now with renewed propulsion, flew back into the forest at an even faster speed, exploding into a massive fireball and cloud of smoke.
"Who's there?!"
Like an enraged little beast, Renitia stared ahead and shouted, "You dare to ambush us? I'll have Sage take care of you!"
The fire illuminated the depths of the forest, revealing countless figures.
One of them quickly approached and came into view, standing on a tree trunk.
He wore a helmet resembling a watermelon peel and a green jacket, with two guns at his waist and two cannons on his shoulders. His face was extensively scarred from burns, and he looked furious.
"Renitia 'Hammer' and Wibbur! You people keep targeting us, and now you dare to invade Dad's homeland? We won't let you get away with this!"
Renitia tilted her head, "Who are you? The Burned Man?"
The only one matching this description was the so-called 'Burned Man' mentioned earlier, who supposedly possessed a piece of the Historical Manuscript.
"I'm Kuriel, the captain of the 10th Division of the Whitebeard Pirates, and I'm here to settle the score with you!"
As he spoke, more figures emerged from behind him.
A rotund man with two pocket-like marks under his chin stepped forward, "Bramank, captain of the 6th Division."
Beside him was a man with unruly brown hair and a goatee, holding a chained meteor hammer, "Rakyo, captain of the 7th Division."
There was also a fish-man with a protruding forehead and visible lower jaw teeth, "Namuel, captain of the 8th Division."
One by one, they surrounded Renitia and Wibbur in the circular clearing she had created.
Each of them was a captain or a leader of their division.
