Chapter 395: The Flower of Grassland
Chapter 395: The Flower of Grassland
A Battle?
They weren't here for a Pokemon battle today, so Yeguipeng subconsciously shook her head in refusal. Then, along with her Salamence and Sceptile, she continued on her way.
The boy was taken aback when the masked girl rejected his challenge.
But that Salamence looked so powerful. It would be a shame not to battle such a formidable Trainer.
The boy hurried after them, calling out, "Please, just one Pokemon battle! I insist!"
Yeguipeng, Salamence, and Sceptile stared blankly at the persistent boy.
The three Pokemon exchanged glances, realizing they would have to defeat this human before they could proceed.
"Pew..."
Yeguipeng reached up to remove her mask, intending to enter the battle herself, but then she remembered she was supposed to be a human Trainer.
So she quickly adjusted her mask and nodded.
The boy's eyes lit up when he saw the Trainer accept his challenge, and he immediately pulled a Poke Ball from his pocket.
"Let's give it our all!"
Yeguipeng, mimicking him, raised her hand.
Salamence, initially unsure of what was happening, finally understood that it was his turn to battle when he felt Yeguipeng's gaze upon him.
Salamence took a menacing step forward.
"Roar!"
Watching this unfold, the boy couldn't help but feel puzzled.
What was going on? There was something odd about this Trainer and her Pokemon.
He asked, unable to contain his curiosity, "Can't you speak?"
Yeguipeng, not knowing how to respond, shook her head.
Mute? Was this girl mute? The boy was bewildered. How would she command her Pokemon in battle?
The boy suddenly realized his rudeness and apologized, "I'm so sorry! I didn't know your situation."
Yeguipeng didn't understand why the boy was talking to himself, but she waved her hand, signaling that the battle could begin.
The boy had many questions, but in the end, the temptation to battle was too great. He brought this peculiar girl and her Pokemon to the battle arena in the center of town.
In this world, Trainer culture thrived, and traveling Trainers were always ready for a Pokemon battle.
Thus, almost every town and city had multiple battle arenas to accommodate such encounters.
There was one in Chiqin Town as well.
At that moment, Yeguipeng stood at one end of the arena, imitating Naoki, while Salamence pretended to be her Pokemon, standing in front of her.
Seeing that the Trainer was ready, the boy's heart stirred with determination.
He gripped his Poke Ball tightly and threw it forward.
"Go, my partner! The dancer of the waters, Wigglytuff!"
A flash of white light revealed an elegant, dancing duck Pokemon in the arena.
"You can make the first move!" said the boy, curious to see how the silent girl would direct her Pokemon in battle.
But the next moment, the boy watched as the Salamence across from him sprang into action.
It flapped its wings, generating a fierce storm that swept toward Wigglytuff.
Countless violent gusts struck Wigglytuff, immediately rendering it unable to battle.
"Wh-What just happened?" The boy was taken aback.
Was that Hurricane? What immense power! Seeing that their opponent had been defeated, Yeguipeng couldn't contain her joy. She turned to leave with Salamence and Sceptile, eager to continue choosing a gift for Naoki.
Back on the street, the three Pokemon paused from time to time to gaze into shop windows at the array of goods within.
The owner of the flower shop, a lady wearing a checked apron, looked at the masked girl gently and introduced the flowers:
"These are the famous Gracetelia flowers!"
"Poni?" Yeguipeng murmured in response, intrigued by the name.
The flower shop owner paused, then looked at the masked "girl" in disbelief and asked, "Are you... a Pokemon?"
Realizing that she had been found out, Yeguipeng quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
Her action made the flower shop owner laugh.
"Don't worry," she said, "even though I don't know why you're dressed as a human, I'm sure you want to give these flowers to someone very important to you."
Seeing that the woman had seen through her disguise and seemed to have no ill intentions, Yeguipeng happily nodded in agreement: "Poni poni!"
Sceptile and Salamence voiced their agreement as well.
Looking at the three Pokemon, a gentle smile appeared on the woman's face.
She could tell that these three Pokemon were very happy and well-cared for.
"In that case," she continued, "give this bouquet to that special person. These flowers are called Gracetelia, originally from the distant Sinnoh region."
"People there use these flowers to express gratitude during birthdays, anniversaries, and other important occasions."
The three Pokemon listened quietly.
Salamence had initially been dissatisfied with Yeguipeng's choice of gift, as there were plenty of flowers on the ranch, and Naoki might not appreciate them.
However, upon hearing the flower shop owner's words, its perspective changed.
Giving these flowers to Naoki felt just right!
Sceptile, standing by, shared the same sentiment.
Unlike Salamence, Sceptile had a preference for shiny, golden objects.
It had intended to give Naoki something golden to thank him for all the coins he had given to help it evolve.
But now... these flowers were perfect!
After choosing the gift, it was time to pay.
Yeguipeng reached into her clothes and pulled out a bundle that Aiguansi had given her, offering it to the flower shop owner.
The woman reached out to take it, assuming it contained berries collected by the three Pokemon. But when she opened it, she was momentarily blinded by a dazzling flash of gold.
Shocked, she exclaimed, "Th-These are...?"
The three Pokemon looked at each other, unsure what was happening.
Thinking that they hadn't offered enough, Sceptile quickly used its Steel-type abilities to create over a dozen more gold coins.
Witnessing this, the woman was nearly scared out of her wits.
Oh my! What had she just seen? This Pokemon could create gold coins!
"No, no," she stammered, "these are too valuable... I can't accept them."
She quickly tied the bundle closed and handed it back to them.
Perplexed, the three Pokemon exchanged glances, not understanding what was happening.
The woman explained, "Never mind, I won't take your money. Please accept this bouquet as my gift to you. These gold coins are too precious. You should keep them safely."
Hearing this, the three Pokemon finally understood and happily left behind the gold coins Sceptile had just created, turning to leave the shop with the bouquet.
The woman stood there, dazed for a moment, then hurriedly picked up the gold coins and rushed out after them, only to see the two Pokemon already riding on Salamence, flying away.
