Chapter 395: The Ancient God
Chapter 395: The Ancient God
Fast City.
The Chamber of the Pantheon.
Dark Wizard Abbott knelt before a colossal statue, his voice filled with reverence as he prayed.
"Great and merciful Lord, Your radiance shines upon the land, forever unyielding."
"A devoted servant kneels before you..."
"Lord!"
"..."
"Abbott!" A voice devoid of emotion echoed in his ears, causing Abbott to freeze.
Armor Spell!
Blink Spell!
Auto Evasion!
...
Various spells were activated, and Abbott held the extraordinary object resembling a scroll.
"It's me."
The voice remained calm and steady.
"Seraphiel!"
Abbott turned towards the source of the voice, his expression changing slightly. He then bowed reverently, "Great Hymnist, the Changer, one of the Twelve Sages, I await your command."
Seraphiel!
One of the Twelve Sages of the Temple of the Gods.
Once a high-ranking angel beside an ancient deity, a creator and transmitter of heat, Seraphiel's sole purpose (or essence) was to hymn the god and manifest divine radiance.
With the fall of the gods, Seraphiel acquired a portion of a deity's traits, becoming one of the Sages of the Temple.
"The divine rails have brought news of a rebel in Fast City, and I'm here to eliminate them."
Seraphiel, clad in a white robe, held a peculiar staff adorned with an enormous emerald, and walked barefoot towards Abbott.
"What extraordinary events have occurred here in the past half-month?"
"Please wait."
Dark Wizard Abbott bowed respectfully and waved his staff gently, summoning a book that recorded various events.
Omniscient Tome!
A Tier 4 Artifact.
This book automatically records any extraordinary events within a few hundred miles of its holder, provided they don't exceed its capacity.
In other words, Tier 4.
Soon,
Several unusual extraordinary events were briefly described, presented before a man and a god.
"Hmm..."
Seraphiel narrowed his eyes, "The Golden Sacred Beetle?"
"The Mine!"
"Great Hymnist," Dark Wizard Abbott spoke with his head bowed, "Since it involves a rebel, shouldn't we inform the Radiant Sage, Her Highness Remiller?"
The Temple of the Gods has twelve Sages, half of whom are in a 'dormant' state, while the other half each have their own territories.
Fast City,
Belongs to Remiller.
"Heh..."
Seraphiel paused, his eyes, formed purely of holy light, fell on Dark Wizard Abbott.
"You worship the gods, not any particular Sage."
"Remiller..."
"She has long abandoned her faith and no longer strives for the revival of the gods. Perhaps one day, she too will become a rebel."
Abbott was stunned. He knew that the Temple of the Gods was not united, and various factions existed within.
But he never imagined...
Even the Twelve Sages had reached this point?
"Let's go."
A green ray emanated from the emerald on Seraphiel's staff, tearing through space to create a passage.
"Great Hymnist," Abbott asked in the dark depths.
"What's the situation with this rebel?"
A rebel is one who has obtained the power left behind by the gods but does not strive for their revival.
Instead, they claim the divine power for themselves and may even turn against the Temple of the Gods.
Such beings must be killed, and their divine power reclaimed—this is the primary duty of the Temple.
Of course...
There's another type of being.
'They' also possess divine power, but it's not from the death of the gods; it's from another source.
"It's an Ancient God."
Hymnist Seraphiel whispered,
"An ancient being, sealed within the Time Wasteland, has emerged due to the gods' slumber."
An Ancient God?
Abbott slowly nodded.
Long, long ago, this continent was home to many Ancient Gods, some even older than the gods themselves.
But age does not always equate to power.
The strength of the deities lies partly in themselves and partly in their faith, while the Ancient Gods have no faith.
Perhaps...
Abbott might even be able to seal or slay an Ancient God.
"We've arrived."
Hymnist Seraphiel stopped, gazing at the patterns beneath his feet and the swarm of Holy Beetles approaching.
"Light!"
As he spoke, light appeared in the field.
Initially soft, the light quickly became blinding, leaving nothing but radiance.
Hymnist Seraphiel shone like a fallen sun, washing away everything with endless light.
"Sizzle..."
The swarming Holy Beetles shrieked in agony under the light, turning to ash one by one.
"Go!"
The two continued on their way.
Wherever Hymnist Seraph went, light surged, and any power not belonging to him was purified.
Even the power of the Ancient God was no exception!
"Tap..."
A pause in footsteps.
Dark Wizard Abbott hurried forward, carefully examining the patterns on the ground, and finally offered an answer:
"It's probably due to tectonic movement. The seal here has malfunctioned, causing the Ancient God's power to leak out."
He looked up and said:
"We can reseal it."
"No!"
Hymnist Seraph shook his head gently.
"Since it has emerged from the Time Wasteland, even if we reseal it, it will eventually revive one day."
Abbott nodded.
The Time Wasteland was a prison built by the Gods, imprisoning Whisper Demons, Dark Gods, and even Ancient Gods.
There,
6◇9◇Book◇Bar
Time stood still, and all things returned to chaos.
The Temple of the Gods had only inherited a portion of the Gods' power and was far from being able to rebuild the Time Wasteland.
Since it couldn't be completely expelled, it had to be destroyed.
Hymnist Seraph was a peak Tier 4 powerhouse. If power was the measure, he would be among the top even among Ancient Gods.
Especially since,
The target couldn't move!
"You are guilty!"
Gazing forward, Hymnist Seraph held his staff high, and the light transformed into countless rays of light, piercing the void.
"Ah!"
A scream echoed.
…………
Baro cautiously touched the stone wall, inching forward.
It was so dark here that even with his genetically mutated eyes, he could barely see beyond a meter.
It was deathly silent, not a sound could be heard.
'Where am I?'
His heart sank, already anticipating the worst.
The Night Watch Organization's literature had similar records. He was likely to have entered a Dimensional Space.
To get out, unless one was a Tier 3 Spatialist Supernal Being, there was almost no hope.
"Crackle..."
A strange noise came from ahead.
Baro clenched his fist, and his Extraordinary Artifact, the Thunder Gauntlets, burst forth with blinding lightning, blasting forward.
"Boom!"
Over a dozen Dark Beetles shattered on the spot.
"Clang..."
"It's Miss Monica and Mr. Blaze!"
Seeing familiar faces, even though he knew the chances of survival were slim, Baro felt a sense of relief:
"What's going on?"
"We were probably dragged into this Dimensional Space by the Ancient God." Monica lit a torch, illuminating the surroundings, and said:
"The bad news is, we might be trapped here for life."
"The good news is..."
"The Ancient God's power isn't strong, or rather, the sealed God can't wield powerful abilities. For now, we don't have to worry about our safety."
"Extraordinary Beings, Ancient Gods, Dimensional Space..." Blaze's eyes were vacant, and he smiled bitterly:
"If I hadn't witnessed this with my own eyes, I'd question the reality of the world."
"Mr. Blaze." Baro began to persuade:
"I was scared at first too, but if you just..."
"Boom!"
Before he could finish his sentence, the ground suddenly shook violently, and countless pebbles rained down from above.
"What's happening?"
Blaze cried out in terror.
"It's being attacked!" Monica, however, had a delighted expression:
"Someone is attacking the Ancient God!"
Whoever it was, being able to harm the Ancient God through the seal meant they were a powerful being, which was good news for them.
"Ah!"
A scream echoed in the darkness, and the tremors became more intense, accompanied by various strange noises.
"Die!"
"Die!"
"I don't want to die!"
"..."
"Hehe..." Just then, a cute little girl appeared before the three of them.
The little girl held a red apple, took a bite, and her gaze shifted from one person to another before settling on Monica.
"Little girl, do you want to make a deal?"
"Deal."
Monica shielded Blaze as they slowly backed away.
"Are you the Ancient God sealed here?"
"Yes." The little girl shrugged:
"I've been sealed for so long, and just as I got the chance to get out, I'm about to die."
"What a pity."
"If you hadn't done evil, you wouldn't have been sealed away." Baro glared:
"Let us go, and maybe the person outside will spare you because of your kindness."
"Impossible." The little girl shook her head:
"That person wants the divine power within me, they won't let me go. But if I die, you will too."
She licked the corner of her mouth and said:
"You help me escape, and I'll let you live. The blood in your body can break the sealing formation."
"That's right!"
The little girl smiled and said:
"The person outside who wants to kill me is from a Temple of the Gods, and they seem to be your arch-nemesis."
