Chapter 395: Entertain Me to Your Fullest Extent
Chapter 395: Entertain Me to Your Fullest Extent
On the vast ocean, Feng Ye slowly lowered his outstretched arms, his gaze indifferent as he stared at the remnants of the Black Pearl in the distance.
Although he had spotted them earlier, he hadn't expected these pirates to dare to launch an attack—first with cannon fire, followed by a vacuum-slicing strike.
Seated at the cabin door, he had been enjoying Robin's massage while admiring the cherry blossom petals dancing on the ocean's breeze. This rare moment of relaxation and appreciation of nature's beauty had now been ruined, putting him in a foul mood. And his retaliation was merciless.
However, he was slightly surprised to find that a few of the pirates had survived his attack, and one among them exuded a powerful presence, seemingly having sustained minimal injury.
"Seems like they're not insignificant," Feng Ye mused, hands clasped behind his back as he gazed at the wreckage in the distance. He didn't recognize this formidable individual, but he had already spotted the white-bearded figure on a nearby island.
Sssss!
Just then, a flash of sword light tore through the air from the wreckage, cleaving the ocean in two and creating an abyss that extended for nearly a thousand meters. The attack was aimed at Feng Ye's ship, sweeping upward from below.
"You..."
"Damn it!!"
At the end of the abyss stood Captain John, his face contorted with rage as he glared at Feng Ye, his eyes bloodshot and wild.
His ship had been destroyed!
His crew had been decimated by that single strike!
Since he began sailing the seas, he had never suffered such a loss. Not even when facing the Navy Headquarters' encirclement or when he battled the Roger Pirates had he endured such devastation!
"Such a slash..."
"As I suspected, it's a great swordsman," Feng Ye remarked, his eyes flickering slightly as he observed the slash that had split the ocean, now surging upward to bisect him and his ship.
Buzz!
The ship beneath his feet suddenly shot up into the sky, and he threw a punch downward. The air in front of his fist warped, forming a massive visible fist impression that plummeted downward.
The fist impression collided with the slash that had cleaved the ocean, resulting in a massive explosion that rocked the entire sea, sending ripples and towering waves in all directions once more.
"That guy is Captain John!"
"He's a formidable pirate with a bounty of 2,137,900,000 berries!"
Robin appeared beside Feng Ye, her eyes fixed on the distant figure of Captain John standing atop a shattered piece of the ship. She recognized him and warned Feng Ye.
Hearing Robin's words, Feng Ye vaguely recalled, "Captain John... Oh, the one who became a zombie general under Moriah after his death, formerly a member of the Rocks Pirates, right?"
"He became a zombie after death?" Robin wore a peculiar expression.
Anyone else might have been completely baffled by Feng Ye's statement, but she knew that he could see far into the future, and so what he said was likely an event that would occur much later.
"Yeah, that's right," Feng Ye recalled a fuzzy memory and smiled. "Seems like he did tarnish his reputation in life, just as they say."
Although he hadn't bothered to delve into the specifics, this Captain John was likely one of the losers in the upcoming 'Emperor's Conflict' in the New World. He would meet his end in the vast ocean, failing to become one of the Four Emperors and falling to the likes of Kaido, Big Mom, or Red Hair Shanks.
And after death, his body would be dug up by the grave robber, Gecko Moriah, and turned into a zombie.
"...!"
Captain John stared at Feng Ye, who hovered above with his ship, his eyes burning with fury. His anger had reached its pinnacle.
"Don't spout nonsense... that I can't understand!"
Captain John lunged forward, his body flashing as he appeared in front of Feng Ye. Black-armed Haki coiled around his sword as he fiercely swung it down at Feng Ye.
Feng Ye nonchalantly lifted his gaze to meet the attacking Captain John, his left hand moving silently to grasp a captain's sword, which he swung up to meet John's, cloaked in black Haki.
Clang!!!
The clashing blades created sparks that seemed to twist the air, forming visible ripples that spread in all directions. At the same time, pitch-black fissures like lightning crisscrossed the entire sky.
This scene was familiar to the severely injured but surviving officers of the John Pirates, as well as Marco and the others on the distant island.
A clash of Conqueror's Haki!!
Not a single person showed surprise, for with the identities of the two individuals involved, it would have been strange if they hadn't possessed Conqueror's Haki.
Black lightning crackled between the intersecting blades, as if the entire sky had been torn apart by a spider web of cracks that expanded in all directions.
The aftershocks rippled through the air, causing the ocean below to surge violently.
The once clear blue sky became shrouded in dark clouds.
Boom!!!
With an explosion, Feng Ye stood firm without any excess movement, while Captain John in front of him trembled, his sword shaking as he was knocked backward and fell toward the sea below.
"Captain John!"
"His Haki..."
The surviving officers of the John Pirates, who witnessed this scene, had their faces contort with shock, their eyes reflecting their awe.
They could tell that Feng Ye's swordsmanship seemed inferior to John's, but the burst of Armed Haki and pure power he exhibited was terrifying!
This was the first time they had seen Captain John being pushed back in a direct sword confrontation!
"It's rare to come across a great swordsman."
"I'll be your opponent then."
Feng Ye held his sword horizontally in front of him and calmly looked down at Captain John, saying, "Entertain me to your fullest extent, Captain Mobel John."
While not particularly strong, it was uncommon to find someone with swordsmanship at the level of a great swordsman on the high seas. There were rarely more than a handful in an era, and Feng Ye's swordsmanship was already at the pinnacle, needing just a little more refinement to reach the level of a great swordsman.
Rayleigh had suggested that he seek out powerful swordsmen to spar with, as it would accelerate his progress.
Below,
Captain John landed on a piece of debris from his ship.
The anger that had been building within him since his encounter with Feng Ye began to dissipate as he felt the terrifying power and Haki of his opponent during their clash. However, upon hearing Feng Ye's words, his anger ignited once more.
"Don't get too cocky, you bastard!"
"I am..."
"Captain John!"
As a possessor of Conqueror's Haki, he could not tolerate being treated with such disdain and condescension, especially after losing his ship and crew.
To back down now would make him a laughingstock, a failure shrouded in shame.
He would stake his name, Captain John, on this battle!
Even if it meant death,
He would cut down Feng Ye with his sword!
