Chapter 395: Asgard's Spaceship (Third Update)
Chapter 395: Asgard's Spaceship (Third Update)
"Jerry, I heard from Heimdall that you’ve come. It’s been a long time since you last visited Asgard!"
In the living room of the Queen's Palace, Jerry was enjoying Frigga’s introduction to the various major racial powers in the universe when Odin, clad in golden armor and holding Gungnir, walked in.
"Salute, King Odin!"
Seeing Odin enter, Jerry rose and performed the Asgardian salute.
Odin smiled and waved his hand.
"You and Thor have a brotherly bond, and you are also the guardian of the Aether. There’s no need to be so formal!"
Initially, Odin didn’t take Jerry, the Earth mage, very seriously. At most, he acknowledged the favors Jerry had done for Thor and Asgard, allowing him to come to Asgard to study Magic.
However, as Jerry’s terrifying Magic talent and increasing Magic power became evident, and after he formed a connection with the Sorcerer Supreme, becoming the guardian of the Aether, Odin began to take him more seriously.
The reason for his current amiable attitude was that when he entered the living room and looked at Jerry, he realized for the first time that he could no longer clearly sense Jerry’s power.
This could only mean one thing: Jerry’s current strength was not far from his own level.
If Odin were in his prime, it wouldn’t matter much, as he was among the most powerful at his level. Even if Jerry reached his level, he would still be far behind.
It’s like the difference between a beginner and a master, with intermediate and advanced levels in between.
Moreover, Asgard was his domain, and his Odinforce granted Asgard its power, which in turn greatly amplified his own. Within Asgard, he could even defeat enemies one or two levels above him, and even Dimensional Deities would be no match for him.
But now, things were different. He was old, and he could clearly feel that his lifespan was nearing its end, and his power was declining. As his strength weakened, the seals he once placed began to loosen.
The prophesied Ragnarok might not be far off.
If, after his death, a powerful mage like Jerry could help Thor, Thor’s path would be much easier, and he would suffer less. This was why Odin was being so kind to Jerry now.
"King Odin is an elder, and the proper etiquette should be observed!"
Although Jerry was surprised by Odin’s more friendly attitude, he didn’t let it go to his head. While his strength had grown significantly, he still had a clear understanding of the gap between himself and Odin and the Ancient One. Therefore, he maintained the necessary politeness, especially since he had a favor to ask today.
"Alright, let’s not dwell on this. I heard you have something important to discuss with me?"
Odin cut straight to the point.
Before Jerry could respond, Queen Frigga spoke up.
"Jerry wants to leave Midgard and travel to other planets in the universe, so he is here to ask you for a spaceship that can take him to other planets."
Indeed, Jerry was here to ask Odin for a spaceship that could travel to other planets, to find suitable humans who could be moved to his ring world.
Actually, his ring Spatial contained a massive Dark Elf warship, but it was made with unique Dark Elf technology, and he couldn’t operate it properly.
He tried to cast the Enlightenment Spell on the smaller Dark Elf spaceships to see if they could pilot themselves.
Unfortunately, things weren't that simple.
The principle behind the Enlightenment Spell wasn't like creating the Four Divine Beasts, giving them their own preferences and human-like qualities.
Instead, it involved infusing the item with his own thoughts and, through the stimulation of Magic, granting them an intelligent system similar to robots—highly anthropomorphic but not truly human.
Thus, the enchanted Wizard Chess pieces would continuously orbit the chessboard, the statues, robot soldiers, and mini cannons would follow orders and perform their tasks endlessly, without fatigue, without a desire for freedom, and without emotions like love or family bonds.
Similarly, the enchanted Dark Elf spaceships wouldn't instinctively know the Dark Elves' language or operating systems, and they wouldn't be able to operate them instantly.
This was because Jerry, who had enchanted them, didn't understand these things and couldn't teach them.
Perhaps, after a long period of adaptation, the spaceships could learn and experiment with their systems, leveraging their unique advantages to become proficient.
However, given the complexity of the Dark Elf spaceships and the lack of learning materials, this process would be very lengthy.
Of course, getting them to fly simply wouldn't be too difficult; even Jerry could figure it out with some trial and error. But he needed to pilot the spaceship for a cosmic journey, and he couldn't afford to be careless.
If something went wrong, he wouldn't die drifting in space with his current body, but returning would be a problem.
So, he decided it would be more convenient and safer to buy a spaceship from Asgard, where he was already planning to visit to gather information about cosmic powers and obtain a map for his journey to avoid getting lost.
Additionally, he already understood Asgardian and Asgardian script, so after a few days of learning, he should be able to pilot the spaceship easily. He could then modify the Asgardian spaceship to make it even more manageable.
"Traveling through the cosmos? That sounds great. Mages often travel to explore the mysteries of Magic. There's no need to buy a spaceship; we Asgardians aren't that stingy with our friends.
I'll have the soldiers take you to pick one out. Consider it a thank you for taking care of Thor on Earth these past few days!"
Odin waved his hand, clearly not surprised by the mage's desire to travel through the cosmos.
Powerful mages often ventured into space to explore the secrets of Magic, much like the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One, who didn't need a spaceship to leave Earth.
Jerry was now on the verge of their level, and it was understandable for him to have the urge to explore the universe.
"King Odin, that's too—"
Jerry tried to refuse, but Odin raised his hand to interrupt him, and he could only nod reluctantly.
In reality, with his current Magic abilities and the Aether, he could easily provide something of equal value to a spaceship. He didn't want to take such a small favor, as favors were a finite resource.
For Odin, the King of the Gods, a spaceship was a minor matter. Cultivating a relationship with Jerry, a powerful mage who might one day rival the Ancient One, was a worthwhile investment.
It's a bit late today, but let's continue anyway.
