Chapter 395: Ambush
Chapter 395: Ambush
Silke had no intention of staying.
She knew Sherlock's strength. If he couldn't solve the problem on his own, adding her wouldn't change the outcome.
And the vial of memories must not be compromised in any way.
She reached out to take the glass vial and, before leaving, whispered softly,
"I'll wait for you in Hogsmeade."
Sherlock slowly drew his wand, remained silent, and gave her a thumbs-up.
After Silke left, he moved in the direction the Death Eaters had gone, their split actions providing Sherlock with a perfect opportunity to pick them off one by one.
With Controlled Magic at his disposal, such a dark and stormy night was the best time for him to strike.
He quickly located a Death Eater who had quietly approached a Muggle home.
This was Amycus, the one who had argued with Rodolphus earlier.
This male wizard had a sister, and the two were notorious in the wizarding world even before officially becoming Death Eaters. Everyone knew the Carrow siblings as ruthless Dark Wizards with no moral boundaries.
With Voldemort as their leader, they became even more brazen.
When they were caught years ago, the entire Wizengamot voted unanimously to sentence them to life imprisonment in Azkaban.
This was the highest criminal punishment in the wizarding world.
Staring at the wooden door, a cruel expression crossed Amycus's face.
He was harboring a deep-seated anger, and his methods for interrogating the Muggle would not be simple. He needed to vent the fury that Rodolphus had stirred up.
Just as he was about to knock on the door, with his wand in one hand and the other on the door, a dozen identical wands silently floated behind him, their tips all aimed at him.
Amycus was just about to knock when a barely audible voice sounded behind him.
"Petrificus Totalus."
The voice was not close, at least five meters away, so Amycus's first instinct was to roll to the side to avoid the spell!
However, before he could even act, a dozen spells hit his back with tremendous force!
It was like being struck by a heavy hammer. Amycus flew forward toward the door, and with a loud crash, his body became as rigid as a statue, falling lifelessly to the ground.
"Who's there?"
The Muggle inside the house clearly heard the commotion, called out, and was about to step outside.
Sherlock didn't hesitate. Using Controlled Magic, he silently controlled Amycus's fully paralyzed body and left the scene.
The door opened, and a middle-aged Muggle with a beard peeked out. Seeing no one, he grumbled a few complaints and closed the door, returning inside.
Sherlock then brought Amycus to the location where he and Silke had previously stayed.
It was a secluded alley, rarely frequented even during the day, and even less so at night, making it an ideal hiding spot.
Though his body was immobilized, Amycus's eyes and mind were not affected by the Petrificus Totalus. After being hit by the spell and falling to the ground, he saw the dozen wands floating behind him.
Despair quickly set in within him.
Sherlock's method of casting spells was no secret, at least not among the Death Eaters. Voldemort had made sure every one of his followers knew Sherlock's face and the unique ability to control a wand from a distance to cast spells.
Even the Death Eaters who had only recently escaped from Azkaban were aware that on the night of their master's resurrection, a young Hogwarts professor had stabbed Voldemort through the heart.
The name Sherlock Forrest was deeply etched into the minds of every Death Eater.
Just as no wizard in the British wizarding world, aside from Dumbledore, would believe they could defeat Voldemort, no Death Eater believed they could best Sherlock, who had faced Voldemort head-on and survived.
Except for madmen like Bellatrix, no one would dare to encounter Sherlock or Dumbledore.
Unfortunately for Amycus, he fell into Sherlock's hands tonight.
His eyes were lifeless, but Sherlock didn't even spare him a glance. After tossing him into an alley, Sherlock turned and quickly walked in the direction he remembered another Death Eater to be.
They had agreed to meet in 10 minutes, and Sherlock knew it was impossible to deal with all five of them within that time. However, if he took out two or three of them, the remaining ones wouldn't pose any real threat, even if they discovered the problem.
The key was to act swiftly, ensuring the Death Eaters had no chance to raise an alarm. Otherwise, it would alert the others prematurely.
While Sherlock wasn't afraid of facing them all together, he was primarily concerned that some might escape. According to his plan, none of the five Death Eaters who came to this village should leave alive.
The residential area of the village was not large. Following the direction one of the Death Eaters had taken, it didn't take long for Sherlock to locate the second Death Eater within his domain.
This Death Eater's face was unfamiliar to Sherlock. He had just knocked on a Muggle's door, completed an Imperius Curse, and was inquiring about Slughorn's whereabouts.
Before the Muggle could respond, Sherlock repeated his technique, and the spell struck the Death Eater directly.
The Death Eater's body fell limply to the ground, and the Imperius Curse he had placed on the Muggle was automatically lifted. The plump middle-aged woman stared blankly at the scene for a moment. Two seconds later, fear spread across her face, and she was about to scream when Sherlock's wand was already aimed at her.
"Obliviate."
The woman's eyes snapped open, her gaze becoming vacant. She stood there, dazed, as Sherlock carried away the Petrified Death Eater.
In a short while, she would wake up, forgetting why she was standing there, and return to her house, suspecting that her memory was failing due to her age, before continuing to sleep.
