Chapter 394: What Did You Do Last Night?
Chapter 394: What Did You Do Last Night?
The next morning, Ivan yawned as he woke up from bed, his first action being to observe Scabbers' movements and confirm its state.
The gray-black rat was currently lying listlessly by the window, looking dazed and somewhat dull.
Seeing this, Ivan couldn't help but feel a bit worried. Had he used the Obliviate spell on Peter too frequently, potentially harming his mind? It would be terrible if Peter became mentally unstable by accident.
While thinking, Ivan got out of bed and went through his usual morning routine.
On the other side, Harry had already changed into his Gryffindor team uniform, but he looked rather weary. Last night, he had vaguely heard a faint scream in his sleep.
Harry felt this might be some kind of warning from his mother. The sound still echoed in his ears, as if his parents were constantly questioning why he hadn't sought revenge from Sirius Black.
As Harry was lost in thought, Ivan walked up and patted his shoulder, offering some comfort. "Don't think too much about it. Let's go, there are many people waiting to cheer for you on the field!"
Harry nodded reluctantly. Ron picked up Scabbers and tucked it into his robes, and the group set off together toward the Quidditch match.
As they strolled down the corridor, Ivan noticed through the windows that the weather seemed rather poor today. Strong winds were blowing, and the sky looked gray and overcast, with more clouds gathering.
Clearly, a storm was about to hit.
Harry also noticed this and silently prayed that it wouldn't rain, at least not during this time!
However, things didn't go as wished. Just as they were about to leave the castle, a bolt of lightning split the sky, followed by a torrential downpour that showed no signs of letting up.
"This bloody weather is terrible!" Harry said helplessly, looking up at the sky. He felt as if everything had been against him lately.
Playing in a storm wasn't a good idea. The heavy rain and strong winds would affect visibility, making the Golden Snitch even harder to find.
Although the opponent would be affected by the storm as well, Harry wore glasses, and if rain wetted the frames during the match, it would be quite troublesome.
Harry sighed and complained to his two friends. Ivan thought for a moment and was about to suggest something when a voice came from behind them.
"Actually, this is quite easy to solve. Just add a small water-repellent charm to your glasses, and it will be fine."
Ivan turned around and saw a brown-haired young witch walking toward them, holding a large ginger cat.
Ron instinctively covered his pocket, and Scabbers, which had just poked its head out for some air, quickly retreated into the pocket.
"Hold on, there you go!" Hermione, ignoring Ron, walked up to Harry, pointed her wand at his glasses, and added a water-repellent charm.
Ivan then modified Harry's glasses to look like goggles, ensuring they wouldn't fall off during the match due to excessive movement.
"This is fantastic!" Harry touched his newly enchanted glasses, feeling very pleased. Now his glasses would no longer be a burden but a magical tool to protect his eyes from the storm and rain.
"By the way, Harry, there's one more thing I need to remind you. Try not to fly too high during the match!" Ivan suddenly remembered that in the original timeline, Harry would fall from the sky during this match due to the interference of Dementors, so he gave this warning.
"Why?" Harry asked, puzzled.
"Because Dementors often patrol in the air. If you accidentally encounter them, it might affect your performance in the match", Ivan said cryptically.
"It shouldn't be possible, right? How dare those Dementors run into the school and openly interfere with the match? The professors wouldn't allow it!" Hermione couldn't help but interrupt.
"Exactly, and my endurance isn't that bad. If I encounter those Dementors again, I'll still finish the match", Harry felt that Ivan was underestimating his abilities. He wasn't that fragile.
Seeing the skeptical looks on everyone's faces, Ivan shook his head and said, "You'd better not overestimate their tolerance!"
After the warning, Ivan didn't try to persuade them further. It wasn't certain that things would unfold as they did in the original timeline. Perhaps the Dementors would learn their lesson after being disciplined twice.
Moreover, with the professors watching the match, even if the Dementors did something foolish, Harry wouldn't be in mortal danger. At worst, he would just be frightened, which might even motivate him to learn the Patronus Charm from Lupin.
As Ivan and the others chatted on their way to the pitch, Wood was already waiting there. Upon seeing Harry, he hurried over, somewhat discontentedly saying, "Harry, why are you so late? Everyone is waiting in the changing room, just for you!"
"I didn't sleep well last night, so I woke up a bit late", Harry didn't elaborate on the unpleasant matters, just gave a casual response. Then he turned to Ivan and the others, saying, "I'll go get ready. See you later!"
Ivan nodded in acknowledgment, while Ron encouraged him, "Go on, Harry. I believe you'll catch the Golden Snitch the fastest and end the match!"
"Of course, Harry is the best Seeker at Hogwarts. I never doubt that!" Wood said with a smile, then turned to Ivan, asking, "Hals, are you really not going to play Quidditch this year?"
"I've already said this many times. I'm very busy this year and don't have time to practice. Besides, isn't the Gryffindor team already full?" Ivan shook his head, somewhat helplessly.
"Then you'll miss out on this year's trophy!" Wood teased, but a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes.
Ivan was the best Chaser he had ever seen. During the last match against Slytherin, he even broke the Quidditch scoring record!
If Ivan were to play, Gryffindor would definitely win this year!
However, Wood quickly regained his composure. He still had faith in the team he had trained. Even without Ivan, they could win the match this year!
"Harry, let's go. The match is about to start!" Wood grabbed Harry's arm and led him into the changing room.
Ivan and the others found a spot in the stands with a good view and shelter from the rain, ready to watch the match.
Hermione looked around and, seeing no one paying attention, leaned in and whispered, "What did you do last night, Ivan? We looked for you for ages and couldn't find you. You didn't even show up for dinner."
