Chapter 393: Enchanting Seamstress
Chapter 393: Enchanting Seamstress
As they surveyed the ruins of the camp, an older wizard standing beside Bradley couldn't help but sigh.
"Don't sigh! Lloyd, you should consider that we managed to annihilate them despite the onslaught of over ten Inferno Rock Giants and the Black Flame Cult's ambush. Losing just one camp is an excellent outcome."
"This is the best possible result!" Bradley, the Deputy Head, said gravely.
All the wizards present turned their gaze towards the young man standing in the center of the camp.
It was because of him that they had emerged victorious.
The High Priest of the Black Flame Cult, Gregory, had overexerted himself in controlling the Abyssal Hellfire, causing severe damage to his body and nearly losing consciousness. However, this also presented Ren with a rare opportunity to capture a live prisoner.
Gregory was immediately placed under heavy guard.
At that moment, a young voice filled with fear and respect sounded beside Ren, "Lord Ren, please forgive my previous mistakes."
The genius of the Academy, Paul, bowed deeply to Ren.
Audrey and Alicia, who had been standing nearby, also approached and watched this scene from a distance.
"Oh? Mistakes?" Ren looked at him with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
At that moment, he was in a good mood and didn't intend to pursue Paul's actions.
After all, compared to him, Paul's current level was too low. As a First Rank Wizard, his respect or disrespect wouldn't affect Ren's emotions, especially since he was unaware of Ren's true strength.
"Yes, Lord Ren," Paul replied, his head bowed even lower, and a thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead.
Among the younger wizards of the Academy, Paul, as a member of the Imperial Nixon Duke's family, was well aware of Ren's formidable power.
"For abandoning Audrey and Alicia, I'll punish you by making you their guardian during future missions. Any objections?"
"Huh? No problem at all!" Paul was initially startled but quickly agreed.
Before coming here, he had imagined various punishments Ren might impose, but he hadn't expected such a light one.
"Lord Ren, rest assured, I swear I will fulfill this task!" Paul felt relieved and assured Ren again.
"Hmm," Ren nodded slightly, gesturing for Paul to leave.
Ren made this request because he knew he couldn't always be present at the Academy.
Among the Metal Affinity wizards, only Master Mogaro possessed considerable combat prowess. The others were still far from being able to stand alone.
Paul, despite his fear of death, had excellent innate talent and the backing of the Nixon Duke's family. His presence would be sufficient for most tasks.
The two women, Audrey and Alicia, were slightly taken aback by Ren's words but soon looked at him with even more gratitude.
They knew that their 'mysterious junior,' couldn't stay at the Academy indefinitely.
His actions were a way of ensuring their safety.
As the others began to clean up the battlefield, Ren reviewed the previous battle prompts:
[Congratulations! You have defeated powerful enemies and earned 26 Golden Skill Points!]
[Congratulations! Your Will (Hidden) attribute has been enhanced!]
[Congratulations! Your Warhammer Wizard (Legendary) profession level has increased!]
Although Ren had defeated the Abyssal Hellfire Rock Giant, the Thousand Blades King (Epic) profession level was as high as level 13, requiring a massive amount of experience to level up. Therefore, he couldn't level up again.
However, due to Ren's frequent use of wizard skills during the battle, his Warhammer Wizard (Legendary) profession level increased from level 10 to level 11, granting him an additional attribute point and skill point.
This situation also reminded Ren of the advancement of his other professions.
"I still have some way to go before becoming a Crystalization Sorcerer. It will take some time if I follow the standard path."
"In the next few days, I can focus on advancing my other professions."
"For example, I can work on advancing the Master Tailor profession in the capital, where I should be able to find the necessary resources."
"As for the other two Extraordinary professions, the Deadly Alchemist and the Great Armorer, it's been a while since I've made progress, especially the former. Perhaps I should pay a visit to the Royal Apothecary Association."
Currently, Ren had 14 remaining attribute points and 1 remaining skill point.
He had used them all up when he upgraded his Tier 2 Witchcraft 'Iron Armor Spell'.
As for the Golden Skill Points, after spending 8 points previously, he now had 95 points, approaching triple digits.
However, considering the absence of the fourth layer of Advanced Steel Heart Meditation, Ren craved more Golden Skill Points for his exercises rather than being concerned about having too many.
"Ren, I have an idea. If we procure more Ice Magic Scrolls, the Academy's defense here will be greatly enhanced." Ren suggested to Lord Bradley.
"Indeed, Ren, but Ice Magic Scrolls are quite expensive. Given the Academy's finances, it might be challenging to purchase them," Lord Bradley acknowledged.
"Has the Academy considered reaching out to the Wizard Academies in the North?" Ren inquired.
"We've had some contact, but not to the extent of familiarity," Lord Bradley replied.
"I see. In a few days, I'll contact Winterfort Academy. I believe we'll have a significant advantage in terms of pricing," Ren assured.
"That's fantastic! Most of Winterfort's wizards specialize in Ice Magic, and their scrolls are of excellent quality. However, they're often in high demand and hard to obtain. Having you facilitate the purchase is most welcome!" Lord Bradley exclaimed.
The following afternoon, a large airship from the Academy returned to Inferno Canyon, carrying not only the necessary materials for repairs but also several War Golems.
Accompanying them were members of the Swordsman Headquarters.
With the Black Flame Cult's presence in the area and the defensive challenges exceeding what a single Academy could handle, Ren had sent word to the Swordsman Headquarters the day before.
As the captured Black Flame Cult High Priest Gregory was escorted away by the Swordsmen, Ren realized that not only would he receive contribution points from the Academy, but he might also earn recognition from the Swordsman Headquarters.
"Ren, the Academy's support has arrived, and you can return to the Capital at any time," the Deputy Head of the Conservative Party, Lord Bradley, approached Ren with a polite offer, "Additionally, given your expertise in Metal Magic, we've decided to exempt the Metal Magic team from this rotation."
"Oh, wonderful! Then I'll leave the defense of Inferno Canyon in your capable hands, Lord Bradley," Ren replied.
"Rest assured, Ren. While we don't know the extent of the Cult's resources, it's unlikely they possess multiple Abyss Fire Crystals according to ancient records," Lord Bradley reassured.
"Moreover, with Elite Swordsmen on our side, we can withstand any potential attacks," he added.
Upon hearing this news, Audrey and Alicia were momentarily stunned but quickly filled with joy.
They hadn't anticipated such a swift resolution to the Inferno Canyon situation.
It seemed like a fortunate coincidence that Ren was involved.
That evening, the trio boarded the airship and returned to the Academy's outpost.
Ren first visited Master Mogaro's office.
"Ren, as you suspected, there's foul play at work. I didn't expect it to be the Black Flame Cult, though," Master Mogaro admitted, stroking his long, red goat beard with a hearty laugh.
He was increasingly pleased with his disciple.
"It was my duty, Master," Ren smiled.
"Indeed, for your outstanding efforts in Inferno Canyon, the Academy has decided to award you 15,000 contribution points," Master Mogaro announced.
"Thank you, Master," Ren bowed slightly.
Although Ren had anticipated the Academy's contribution point reward, he was pleasantly surprised by their generosity, offering such a substantial amount.
Perhaps it was related to his Swordsman identity, his assistance in procuring Ice Magic Scrolls from Winterfort Academy, or other factors.
"Ren, what are your plans now? Will you be returning to the Swordsman Headquarters?" Master Mogaro inquired.
"Not yet. By the way, Master, I'd like to ask about the Advanced Magic Tool 'Cloak of Concealment' you gave me. Did you craft it yourself?" Ren asked.
Given the sensitive nature of the Swordsman Headquarters' involvement in the matter, Ren refrained from discussing internal affairs.
Coincidentally, he had a question of his own regarding the crafting of the 'Cloak of Concealment', which might impact his path as a Master Tailor.
"I didn't craft it; it was made by the Academy's Master Jacqueline. Is it damaged?" Master Mogaro asked.
"No, I just want to learn the crafting technique for the 'Cloak of Concealment'," Ren clarified.
"You want to learn Enchanting Seamstress techniques?" Master Mogaro's eyes widened in surprise.
"Enchanting Seamstress?" Ren furrowed his brows, slightly puzzled.
This was the first time he'd heard the term.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!" Ren nodded.
"Alright, I'll take you to her, but I must warn you, she has a temper," Master Mogaro hesitated for a moment before standing up.
"Thank you, Master," Ren replied.
Master Mogaro led Ren to an office in the Flesh School of the Academy, where an elderly woman with graying hair opened the door.
"Huh? Mogaro, what brings you here?" The old woman's face remained cold.
"Cough, Ren, let me introduce you to Master Jacqueline," Mogaro said with a hint of embarrassment.
"Jacqueline, this is Ren," Mogaro introduced.
"Ren? That name sounds familiar. Are you the Ren I've heard of?" Jacqueline didn't think much of it at first, but suddenly she seemed to remember something, and her eyes lit up as she looked at Ren.
"Yes, it's that Ren," Mogaro said, stroking his beard with a hint of pride.
"But what does this have to do with you? Why are you so proud? Come on, tell me, what brings you here?" Jacqueline immediately fired back at Mogaro.
Mogaro's face turned red at Jacqueline's words, but he seemed to remember his purpose for coming, and he quickly calmed himself down and followed Jacqueline into the office.
"What? Lord Ren, you want to learn Magic Weaving?" Jacqueline asked, surprised.
"Yes, Master Jacqueline," Ren nodded.
"Alright, with your status, I have no reason to refuse. Well, Mogaro, you can leave now," Jacqueline agreed, nodding.
But suddenly, she changed her tone and asked Mogaro to leave! At that moment, Ren realized there might be a story between Jacqueline and Master Mogaro.
Moreover, Jacqueline's temper wasn't just bad.
To be precise, Jacqueline's temper was particularly bad towards Master Mogaro.
For the correct version, read '69 Book Bar'!
"Lord Ren, do you know what Magic Weaving is?" Jacqueline asked politely.
"Well, not exactly. By the way, Master Jacqueline, you can just call me Ren."
Ren, being respectful to Jacqueline, who was older and teaching him a skill, didn't put on any airs.
"Well, Magic Weaving is a special type of enchanting, or you can think of it as sewing with Magic Thread on fabric to create a unique pattern, which then produces effects similar to enchanting." Master Jacqueline explained with a smile.
"Sewing with Magic Thread?" Ren mulled over Jacqueline's words in his mind, and a realization dawned on him.
"Yes, Ren, come over here, and I'll demonstrate by making a most basic low-level magic tool, the 'Apprentice Robe'." Jacqueline said as she led Ren to the nearby workshop.
Jacqueline picked up a ball of green thread that emitted a faint magical glow, threaded a needle, and began sewing on a finished white silk robe.
Despite Jacqueline's age of over a hundred years, her sewing speed was impressive.
As her fingers moved swiftly, she quickly sewed the Magic Thread onto the cuffs, collar, and most importantly, the lining of the robe, creating intricate patterns.
Ren could clearly sense that the patterns formed by the Magic Thread were similar to those of enchanting.
It wasn't that the patterns were identical, but their core essence shared a resemblance.
"This Apprentice Robe has only one effect: it automatically casts a Level 0 Dust Removal Spell every three days, keeping the robe clean and tidy."
"It's also the standard outer robe for wizard apprentices in the Academy." Jacqueline explained as she worked.
Ren looked at the Apprentice Robe, now understanding why it felt so familiar.
It turned out that most wizard apprentices in the Academy wore this robe.
In less than ten minutes, Jacqueline finished sewing the 'Apprentice Robe' and handed it to Ren with a smile.
"Here, Ren, take a good look. I think if you can understand this, you've basically entered the realm of Magic Weaving."
"Thank you, Master Jacqueline!"
After receiving the robe, Ren examined it closely.
The patterns formed by the Magic Thread emitted a faint magical glow.
Moreover, the patterns on different parts of the robe gave him a sense of deja vu, similar to the 'Basic Defensive Enchantment' patterns he had learned.
It was as if one was carving a tiger on a bronze cauldron, while the other was embroidering a phoenix on silk—the techniques and craftsmanship were different, but the cultural essence was the same.
Suddenly, a system notification rang in Ren's mind:
[Ding! Master Tailor's skill learned: Magic Weaving Artisan (Extraordinary)!]
[The prerequisites for a Master Tailor to advance to a Magic Weaving Artisan are: 1. Master Tailor level 5 or higher; 2. Strength 10 points or more, Constitution 12 points, and Spirit 18 points or more; 3. Independently create ten qualified Magic Weaving Artisan products. Current conditions are not met! Advancement to Magic Weaving Artisan failed!]
Seeing the system notification, Ren couldn't help but laugh.
He hadn't expected that by coming to the Bius Armory School, he would learn Magic Weaving before anything else.
Moreover, judging by the advancement conditions, he only lacked the third condition.
And fulfilling this condition wouldn't be difficult.
"By the way, Master Jacqueline, are there any special requirements for fabric selection? Can I use ordinary linen or silk?" Ren asked.
"Yes and no.
"Jacqueline pondered for a moment before replying, "If you're crafting a simple Witchcraft tool, silk fabric would suffice. But for higher-tier items, like Magic Artifacts, you'd need special materials."
"For example, the Magic Artifact 'Shadow Robe' requires Demon Cloth, a unique fabric dyed with demon blood, and its creation involves a special ritual."
"Of course, the sewing technique is also more complex and extremely challenging," Jacqueline added, a hint of melancholy in her eyes.
It was evident that Jacqueline, like Master Mogaro, had been stuck at the peak of First Rank Wizardry for many years due to limited talent.
According to Ren's prior knowledge, only Second Rank Liquidation Wizards could create the most basic Magic Artifacts.
In other words, Jacqueline, standing before him, had likely not yet crafted a Magic Weaving Artisan product of Magic Artifact caliber.
"What about this rune thread?" Ren asked, picking up the green thread Jacqueline had just used.
As soon as he held it, he realized the thread felt rigid, almost like wire, contrasting sharply with Jacqueline's delicate movements.
Moreover, the Magic Thread was actually transparent. It seemed to have been soaked in a special liquid, resulting in its fluorescent green color.
"This is spider silk soaked in Hardening Liquid. It only softens when infused with mental energy."
"If you understand alchemy and can prepare the Hardening Liquid yourself, you can try making it. But the simplest and most effortless method is to purchase it with Contribution Points at the Academy Supply Exchange," Jacqueline explained.
"I see," Ren nodded.
Despite being a basic Witchcraft tool, the 'Apprentice Robe' involved various aspects of Magic Weaving Artisanry, which was why Jacqueline had him observe the crafting process.
"Master Jacqueline, can I try making one myself?"
"Ren, did you understand?"
"More or less."
"Alright, you can give it a shot. But I don't have any spare silk robes right now." Jacqueline moved aside, seemingly ready to tailor one for Ren on the spot.
"It's fine, Master Jacqueline. I can make it myself." Ren glanced at the well-equipped workbench and took the initiative.
"Oh?" Jacqueline looked surprised, seemingly disbelieving that Ren could sew a silk robe.
Tailoring and Magic Weaving Artisanry were vastly different skills.
As Ren seamlessly crafted the silk robe, Jacqueline's astonishment grew.
"Your tailoring skills are solid; it's hard to believe."
"I never expected a man like you to possess such exceptional tailoring skills."
"However, this will be extremely beneficial for you to learn Magic Weaving."
Subsequently, under Jacqueline's guidance, Ren began to weave the runes. After several attempts and adjustments, he quickly crafted his first 'Apprentice Robe'.
The system notifications promptly followed:
[You have crafted the basic Witchcraft tool 'Apprentice Robe', and your understanding has improved!]
[You have learned a new skill - Apprentice Robe]
[Your skill in crafting Apprentice Robes has improved. Experience gained: +7]
[You have successfully crafted a basic Witchcraft tool 'Apprentice Robe'. Tailor Mastery experience gained: +283]
Seeing that Ren had completed the 'Apprentice Robe' in less than two hours, Jacqueline's gaze at him mirrored Master Mogaro's.
"Wow, Ren, if I hadn't heard of your achievements, I would have taken you as my disciple based on your talent for Magic Weaving. What a shame for old Mogaro to have such a talented student!" Jacqueline exclaimed.
Although she had imparted some practical skills to Ren, his current strength and status made it impossible for her to accept him as her disciple.
"Erm," Ren was at a loss for words.
Given the high price of Magic Thread, Ren didn't plan to continue taking advantage. He intended to return to his office to practice further.
First, however, he needed to visit the Academy Supply Exchange to purchase more Magic Thread, among other things.
According to Master Mogaro, Ren's Contribution Points should now meet the 10,000-point requirement, meaning he could access Tier 3 Metal Magic.
Soon, Ren arrived at the exchange.
The cute-looking female dwarf, who had been idly flipping through something at the counter, looked up at him.
"Hello, please check my access to Tier 3 Metal Magic," Ren said, handing her his Academy identification crystal.
The dwarf girl remembered Ren, and after taking the crystal with a hint of skepticism, she inserted it into the slot to check.
The next moment, her sparkling eyes widened in disbelief, seemingly unable to fathom that Ren had accumulated 10,000 Contribution Points so quickly.
