Chapter 393: Elderly People Should Be Careful About Intense Activities
Chapter 393: Elderly People Should Be Careful About Intense Activities
"What the hell? Where did this random shield come from?!"
Gajeel was completely baffled.
There was no technical explanation. It was just a simple "Human Wall" formed by Clone Soldiers to block attacks. Why had it suddenly become a shield capable of resisting his children's combined assault? What was that strange white aura?
"I don't get it at all!"
A wisp of golden electromagnetic energy crackled along Gajeel's spear before erupting sideways, launching toward Kas.
Bang!
But in that instant, a massive shadow surged from behind him. A giant black paw slammed down on Gajeel's head, slamming him into the ground.
Klah, now a werewolf over five meters tall, pressed his claw against Gajeel's skull, his fangs bared in a snarl. "Don't act like I'm not here!"
Meanwhile, Reiju had been ambushed by Lida.
Lida had burst through Reiju's defenses, her five fingers splayed wide as she slammed her palm into Reiju's chest.
"Energy Drain!"
The moment Lida's palm made contact, Reiju's body slumped. Her toxin-infused hand dropped limply, her strength drained.
"My... body... feels so weak..." Reiju muttered, her voice fading.
"Tch. My figure isn't bad either, you know."
Lida glanced at the fallen Reiju, thrusting her chest forward defiantly.
"Superspeed Shave."
In a flash, Lida vanished, reappearing instantly at the trio blocked by the white shield.
Yiji, Niji, and Isamu were frantically attacking the shield, their strikes bouncing off uselessly. Their frustration peaked when Lida suddenly appeared, tapping each of them once.
"Energy Drain!"
The three collapsed instantly, their bodies limp.
"Lida-miss, so amazing!"
Kas called out, impressed.
Of course Lida hadn't been idle during this time. With Kuro's relentless training regimen, she'd trained daily.
After martial arts training came Haki practice, followed by honing her abilities. Under Kuro's guidance, her mastery had reached a new level.
Her essence absorption had become far more efficient. For opponents of this caliber, a single touch was all it took.
"No, you're the one who's impressive."
Lida rolled her eyes at the white shield.
This thing? She doubted she could break it.
Its defensive power rivaled Kuro's Four Gods Mystic Art's 'Black Tortoise'.
Kas lacked martial arts proficiency and had no Haki to speak of, yet his sheer willpower allowed him to achieve this level of defense. Back at Marineford, he'd held his ground against Whitebeard's captains. If that wasn't strength, nothing was.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Amidst the smoke and dust, Kuro and Lucius continued their furious sword clash.
Both moved at similar speeds, but Lucius's blade was even faster. To onlookers, they were invisible, seeing only shockwaves erupting between them. But to Kuro, the old man's strikes were far from slow.
Yet... not fast enough. Kuro's Observation Haki gave him precognition, letting him parry Lucius's strikes as if he were half a beat behind.
Now both were using Haki. Kuro's was stronger. With every clash, Lucius's hands slowed slightly, keeping them evenly matched.
But Lucius's expression turned distant.
Bang!
They exchanged positions mid-strike, their blades colliding again. Lucius stared at the white shield, momentarily lost in thought.
"In this world of ugliness, there are still those with pure hearts."
Bang!
Kuro's blade slammed into Lucius's Bat Umbrella, unleashing a shockwave that sent a circular burst of dust spiraling from the old man's feet.
"Old man, watch yourself! You might get cut!" Kuro growled.
True, he'd been slashing for ages without landing a single hit.
"Getting old makes you nostalgic for the past."
Lucius smirked, his Observation Haki detecting Kuro's movements before his wrists even twitched. "I've always had exceptional Haki, seen all the world's ugliness. But witnessing such purity... even in the Grand Line, such people still exist."
"But precisely because of that, as those pure souls age and die, the Grand Line becomes even more despicable. Only by reclaiming youth can one ascend to the highest throne!"
With a burst of strength, Lucius shoved Kuro's blade aside, his fingers flipping to grip the umbrella's tip, thrusting it forward like a spear.
Kuro, his Autumn Water knocked wide, brought it back down in a sweeping arc overhead.
Boom!!
They both leapt back, sliding meters apart on the ground.
"Your power's impressive. When did the Navy get a brat like you?"
Lucius glanced at his torn cloak, the Blood Red Hooded Cloak askew, a gash on his shoulder where Armament Haki slowly faded.
"You've been locked in prison so long, old man, you don't even recognize the world anymore. Old age means staying home and retiring, not causing trouble."
Kuro's clothes were intact. He stared at Lucius coldly. "I don't want to fight you, but you seem unwilling to let me leave."
"Of course."
Lucius smiled. "Though you're troublesome, if you die here, the Navy will lose a valuable asset."
"Is that so?"
Kuro narrowed his eyes as the Armament Haki that had blocked Lucius's attack surged outward from his chest, a streak of black climbing his neck. His exposed wrists were coated in Haki, a cross-shaped mark darkening to purple on his forehead, twin purple tear streaks forming beneath his eyes.
"It's been a while since Kuro used this form."
Lida stood atop one of the three brothers, turning to watch. "He's serious now."
"Full-body Armament Haki?"
Lucius raised an eyebrow. "Such an overwhelming amount of Haki. Are you bluffing, brat?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Kuro sheathed Autumn Water, his eyes locked on Lucius. "Elderly people shouldn't recklessly engage in intense activities... they might drop dead from a heart attack!"
Whoosh!
His figure rippled like water, reappearing behind Lucius. The blade unsheathed in an instant, splitting into three slashes that encircled him.
"Swallow Return!"
"This is..."
Lucius reacted the moment Kuro appeared, his Observation Haki detecting the movement. He prepared to counter, but as the three slashes closed in, his pupils constricted.
No escape. Every direction was blocked.
But—
"The flaw lies in the one swinging the blade!"
Lucius thrust his Bat Umbrella at Kuro's neck, a vortex of purple Haki spiraling from its tip.
If you can't dodge... strike straight through!
