Chapter 390: As Long As You're Alive
Chapter 390: As Long As You're Alive
"I never expected a Spirit Herbalist to be so wealthy?"
This thought simultaneously occurred to Feng Yu and the others.
A fourth-grade sword talisman was an extremely rare treasure to them, yet Lu Chen took them out one after another, greatly changing their perception of Spirit Herbalists.
However, with four Flood Dragon Puppets blocking their way, such thoughts only flashed through their minds as they refocused their attention on the puppets.
The Flood Dragon Puppets swam faster and faster, hovering high above Lu Chen and the others, exuding an oppressive aura.
Just as they were about to ferociously pounce on the four, suddenly, in the distant horizon, a patch of crimson clouds appeared, and a ball of fire with a diameter of ten feet rushed towards the four puppets like a meteor.
Just before making contact with the puppets, the massive fireball suddenly dissipated, and the bodies of the Flood Dragon Puppets were engulfed in crimson flames.
The crimson flames clung to their bodies like a bone-deep ulcer, and no matter what means the puppets employed, they couldn't extinguish them. After a dozen or so breaths, the four Flood Dragon Puppets were reduced to charred skeletons.
As a gentle breeze blew, the charred bones turned into countless fragments of ash that rained down.
Countless flames converged, and a handsome young boy clad in a fiery red robe slowly emerged from within.
It was none other than Hu Lin'er, one of the true heirs of the Heavenly Sword Sect, born with a fire spirit body.
"Senior Brother Hu!"
Lu Chen and Feng Yu, surprised by his sudden appearance, quickly recovered and greeted him respectfully.
Long Miaomiao and the other disciple from the Myriad Beasts Gate also bowed politely.
All four of them were stunned by Hu Lin'er's dramatic entrance.
The Flood Dragon Puppets were fourth-grade demonic beasts, and due to their unique bloodline, they were among the strongest of their rank. After being controlled by the Negative Yin Silk, they became fearless and relentless. If Lu Chen and the others had to face them without using the treasures in the Gluttonous Bug Pouch, it would likely take them a considerable amount of time to emerge victorious.
Yet, Hu Lin'er effortlessly reduced the four puppets to ashes with just a single encounter, displaying terrifying strength that gave Lu Chen and the others a clearer understanding of the might of the true heirs of the major sects.
"Lu Chen, I'm sorry I arrived a bit late," said Hu Lin'er apologetically.
"You made it here, and that's what matters. I hope I didn't worry you too much. Are you injured anywhere? Do you need any healing pills? I have everything here," Hu Lin'er asked with concern, his eyes scanning Lu Chen for any signs of injury.
"Thank you for your concern, Senior Brother Hu. I was fortunate during my escape from the beast puppets' attack, and I didn't sustain any injuries," Lu Chen quickly replied, choosing to omit his experience of searching for spirit herbs during this time.
"Senior Brother Hu," Feng Yu, who had been chased by the beast puppets for a long time and looked rather disheveled, spoke up from the side.
"Oh, Feng Yu, you're still alive," Hu Lin'er said, his tone carrying a hint of surprise.
"..." Feng Yu was momentarily lost for words.
Why the difference in treatment? He wondered. Both of them were junior brothers, yet Senior Brother Hu was so warm and caring towards Lu Chen, inquiring about his well-being and offering healing pills, while his greeting to Feng Yu was simply a statement of acknowledgment that he was still alive.
"When our fellow disciples outside the blessed land noticed the distress signal from the camp, Elder Gu sent Senior Brother Hu and Senior Sister Jian to assist us," Long Miaomiao explained.
"Upon arriving at the camp and finding that you had all scattered, we split up and followed your individual trails to locate you," Hu Lin'er added.
"Senior Brother Hu, are we going back to the camp now?" Feng Yu asked, his voice carrying a hint of hope. Long Miaomiao and the other disciple from the Myriad Beasts Gate also listened intently, as they were all curious about their next course of action.
"No need," Hu Lin'er replied. "The camp has been destroyed by those beast puppets, and it would take a lot of time and effort to rebuild it, not to mention the need to set up new formations. There's no point in going back there."
Lu Chen, Feng Yu, and the others nodded in agreement, having no objections.
Hu Lin'er's fiery red robe fluttered in the wind as four fiery clouds suddenly appeared beneath Lu Chen and his companions' feet, lifting them swiftly into the air.
Moments later, the fiery clouds descended upon a massive cave entrance that towered at a height of ten zhang. The interior walls of the cave were a dark reddish color, emitting a strange odor that caused a slight sense of discomfort.
"The center of the blessed land is located in an underground cavern, where many mutated spirit herbs and demonic beasts lurk. However, we've already cleared out most of them." Hu Lin'er explained to Long Miaomiao and the other disciple from the Myriad Beasts Gate as he greeted his fellow sect members guarding the cave entrance.
"The entrance to the underground cavern for the Myriad Beasts Gate is located more than ten li in the southeast direction. You two can head there to find your fellow sect members." he added.
Long Miaomiao and the other disciple expressed their gratitude to Hu Lin'er in unison. Before leaving, they approached Lu Chen and bowed deeply.
"Lu Shixiong, we were able to narrowly escape the pursuit of the beast puppets thanks to your help. After we leave the blessed land, please come and visit the Myriad Beasts Gate when you have the chance." Long Miaomiao said.
"Our sect may not be the best, but we are confident in our ability to raise spirit beasts. We can exchange knowledge in this area." the other disciple added.
"Of course, I'd be delighted to pay a visit." Lu Chen humbly replied.
After the two disciples from the Myriad Beasts Gate left, Lu Chen and Feng Yu followed Hu Lin'er into the complex and ever-changing dark red passageways.
"During the joint effort of the three sects to establish the blessed land, the Golden Core cultivators took the lead in deciphering the restrictions and dealing with the most powerful demonic beasts and aberrant spirit plants." Hu Lin'er explained to the two, mainly addressing Lu Chen.
"The inner sect disciples were primarily responsible for eliminating unstable factors within the blessed land, collecting spirit herbs, spirit minerals, and various treasures." he added.
"Senior Brother Hu, may I ask about the casualties during the process of establishing the blessed land?" Lu Chen asked cautiously.
"There were very few casualties." Hu Lin'er replied.
"With the Golden Core cultivators leading the way, only a small number of disciples were injured during the entire process, and the total number of deaths was negligible. Those who perished did so due to unexpected accidents that we were unable to prevent in time." he explained.
"However, compared to the opportunities gained within the blessed land, these losses are insignificant. It's much safer than exploring secret realms." he added, emphasizing the benefits.
Lu Chen nodded in agreement, feeling even more cautious.
"Speaking of which, I must also thank you, Lu Shidi." Hu Lin'er paused and turned to Lu Chen.
"What do you mean, Senior Brother Hu?" Lu Chen asked, curious about his words.
"Last time, I asked you to research that parasitic spirit plant. Using the method you conveyed to us, dealing with those aberrant Yin Silks became much easier." Hu Lin'er explained.
"Thanks to this, our sect gained numerous treasures within the underground cavern." A proud smile appeared on the boy's face.
The aberrant Yin Silks were incredibly troublesome, as they could parasitize unsuspecting victims during the parasitic process, and they were found everywhere in the dark red underground cavern, hindering the exploration of the blessed land.
With the information provided by Lu Chen, Hu Lin'er and his companions employed the sound wave attack method suggested by Lu Chen, achieving remarkable results and rendering the Yin Silks powerless.
By easily overcoming this challenge, the Heavenly Sword Sect gained an advantage over the other two sects during the process of establishing the blessed land.
With this head start, they were able to continuously stay ahead and acquire a large number of cultivation resources.
