Chapter 39: Divine Blood Amber
Chapter 39: Divine Blood Amber
Divine blood!
Su Nan never expected the blood inside the amber to be something like this.
A thousand years ago, the Starlight Continent was the territory of wizards, and it was impossible for any deity to enter and seek their own demise.
Logically, there shouldn't be any divine blood here.
Unless, in the thousand years since the wizards left, some interdimensional deity entered the Starlight Continent to spread their faith?
Su Nan couldn't help but think of the Starlight Deity worshipped by the Starfire Cult.
He had always assumed that the Starlight Deity was a fabrication by the higher-ups of the Starfire Cult to deceive the lower-ranking members. But now, it seemed that might not be the case.
But if the Starlight Deity truly existed, why didn't the Starfire Cult's followers know a single divine spell? Their combat techniques were entirely those of native knights.
Or perhaps, this divine blood was actually a material collected by a wizard a thousand years ago and left behind?
Furrowing his brow in deep thought, Su Nan couldn't figure it out. He shook his head, temporarily setting the matter aside, and focused his attention back on the divine blood amber in his hand.
Hesitating for a moment, he dispersed the energy particles in his palm and allowed his skin to touch the divine blood amber.
Instantly, his mind became hazy, and he heard indistinct murmurs in his ears.
In his vision, a grand and majestic hall appeared, with a towering figure of indiscernible features sitting on a divine throne. Below, countless fanatical believers knelt, their faces filled with fervor.
Endless prayers and praises echoed in his mind, extolling the greatness and omnipotence of the deity.
Su Nan furrowed his brow and used energy particles to isolate himself from the divine blood amber. The voices and visions in his mind vanished.
"So this is what they call mental corruption."
Su Nan's expression grew serious.
Even with his mental strength, he couldn't completely resist the mental corruption. For others, even knights, prolonged exposure to this corruption would make it difficult for them not to become fanatical believers.
"But while mental corruption is terrifying, this thing also has its benefits."
The moment Su Nan touched the divine blood amber, he felt a significant increase in his body's attraction to the ambient energy particles in the air.
For knights, this meant their bodies would constantly be bathed in energy particles, gradually enhancing their physical constitution.
The Starfire Cult likely used the mental corruption and physical enhancement properties of the divine blood amber to rapidly cultivate a large number of fanatical knights, quickly expanding their influence.
For wizard apprentices, the divine blood amber also had its advantages.
The essence of meditation was to absorb energy particles and strengthen mental power.
By enhancing the absorption of energy particles, the divine blood amber could indirectly improve the efficiency of meditation.
"The question is, how do I eliminate the mental corruption?"
Su Nan had no intention of becoming a fanatical believer of the so-called Starlight Deity.
"The Synthesis Cube can enhance the effects of synthesized materials while reducing side effects. If I have enough divine blood amber, could I synthesize it to reduce the mental corruption?"
Su Nan's eyes lit up.
When he used the blood of black-scaled lizards to synthesize dragon lizard blood and sub-dragon blood, he successfully reduced the blood's rejection reaction.
If he synthesized the divine blood amber, the result should be similar.
With this thought, Su Nan became excited and looked at Amy with eager anticipation.
"Amy, do you have more of these?"
"No, I only took one," Amy shook her head.
Su Nan felt a bit disappointed but continued to ask, "The Starfire Cult, those bad guys, do they have a lot of these?"
"Many," Amy raised her paw and tapped the floor, counting each tap.
"One, two, three, four... twenty-two, twenty-four, twenty-five. There are twenty-five of them."
Your counting skills need some improvement.
But twenty-four divine blood ambers weren't a small number.
It made sense. Since the Starfire Cult could use the divine blood amber to rapidly expand, they must have had a significant amount of it.
Su Nan's spirits lifted.
If he could get his hands on enough divine blood amber, the problem of improving his meditation efficiency might be solved!
"Amy, can you sell this to me?" Su Nan shook the divine blood amber in his hand.
"What do you need it for?" Amy tilted her head in confusion. "Meow, if you want it, I can give it to you, but you have to do me a favor."
"Tell me."
"Amy has been chased by those bad guys all the time, I can't even get a good night's sleep. Can you help me get rid of them?"
Su Nan smiled and agreed without hesitation.
"No problem."
He was already planning to deal with the Starfire Cult, so helping Amy was just a side task.
Tearing off a piece of the tablecloth, he wrapped the divine blood amber and put it in his pocket. Then, he turned to look at Honey, who was still in a daze under the effects of the Charm Person spell.
The target of a Charm Person spell can clearly remember everything that happens around them, so this witness couldn't be left alive.
Su Nan was about to deal with him when he suddenly sensed something. Without hesitation, he activated the Earth Rune Gem in his hand.
A thick, pale yellow glow instantly enveloped his body.
In the next instant, the door exploded inward with a loud bang.
Amid the flying debris, two crescent-shaped sword auras shot through the air like arrows, one aimed at Su Nan and the other at Amy.
Su Nan raised his hand to block, and the sword aura struck his palm with a loud thud. After a brief moment of resistance, it exploded, sending a violent shockwave that rippled against the yellow glow surrounding him but failed to penetrate.
On the other side, Amy had already used Spatial Shift to teleport away the moment the sword auras appeared.
Whoosh!
Another burst of air exploded as two more sword auras shot toward Su Nan and the unconscious noblewoman on the bed.
The latter was instantly shredded into a spray of blood.
This time, Su Nan was prepared. He easily dodged the sword aura, narrowing his eyes as he looked outside.
"Two precise attacks, they must be able to sense the positions of people in the room."
His gaze flickering, Su Nan snapped Honey's neck and then dashed out of the room, through the courtyard, and onto the street outside.
More than twenty people, cloaked and armored, had already surrounded the house.
At the forefront were two tall, muscular men whose bodies shimmered with a faint glow under the moonlight.
Great Knights!
"Meow, it's you bad guys again!"
Amy appeared on a rooftop about ten meters away, glaring angrily at the Starfire Cult members.
Su Nan immediately understood that these were the people who had been chasing Amy.
The two Great Knights at the front were likely the Troy High Priest and Ryan High Priest that Honey had mentioned.
Troy and Ryan ignored Amy's words and instead focused their wary gazes on Su Nan.
"Who are you?"
Su Nan's face was obscured by the yellow glow, making it impossible to see his features.
However, the ease with which he had blocked the two sword aura attacks had made Troy and Ryan take him seriously.
"The divine blood is on him!"
At this moment, Ryan pulled out a statue, glanced at it, and his face changed abruptly. His sharp gaze, like a sword, pierced through the air toward Su Nan.
Troy's expression also turned cold, and he pointed his sword at Su Nan, growling, "Hand over the divine blood!"
Su Nan didn't waste any words. He raised his hand and shot a bolt of lightning.
Troy and Ryan quickly dodged, but the Starfire Cult members behind them weren't as quick. They were instantly charred by the lightning.
"Wizard!"
Seeing their blackened subordinates, Troy and Ryan's faces turned pale. When they looked at Su Nan again, they were on high alert.
The two men gave the same order simultaneously.
"Kill him!"
