Chapter 389: Fusion of the Third Bloodline
Chapter 389: Fusion of the Third Bloodline
As soon as Ivan opened the cabinet, he saw a terrifying sight. Although he wasn't scared, the corners of his mouth still twitched involuntarily.
Because inside the cabinet was his own head!
It was clear that this thing was a Boggart. Perhaps because the cabinet was only so big, the Boggart couldn't transform into a full body, so it simply manifested a head, which looked as if it had been flattened by a steamroller.
The head in the cabinet blinked at him, its face full of apologetic expression, and then it spoke, "Sorry, but there's something I've been hiding from you. The real Hals is dead, and I'm just an imposter."
"That won't work on me", Ivan smirked. He had guessed that the Boggart would say this when he heard the first part in class.
"Funny, funny!" Ivan sighed, tapping the head with his wand and turning it into a Halloween pumpkin lantern. He then picked it up and left Filch's office.
He smoothly made his way to the eighth floor of the castle.
Since Halloween was approaching, Ivan holding a pumpkin lantern, while eye-catching, didn't raise any suspicions.
I need a place to brew a potion!
Ivan walked back and forth in front of the tapestry on the opposite wall three times, silently repeating his wish in his mind.
The door to the Room of Requirement opened.
Ivan entered the Potion Storage Room and immediately saw the Cauldron on the central table bubbling away. The Bloodline Fusion Potion would be ready in a short while!
However, when he looked at the "pumpkin lantern" in his hand, Ivan was at a loss, pondering how to proceed.
Maybe I should cut it a couple of times to see if it bleeds?
Ivan picked up a knife from the table and made a cut on the pumpkin lantern's surface. A thick, light yellow liquid oozed out of the incision.
But just as Ivan was about to collect the liquid with a vial, it was reabsorbed back into the wound.
Ivan angrily stabbed the pumpkin lantern several times, causing more liquid to flow out, but no matter what he tried, he couldn't collect any of it. In the end, Ivan could only guess that the liquid was also a manifestation of the Boggart.
After wasting so much time, the magic that had been cast on the Boggart had worn off.
The Boggart quickly transformed from the pumpkin lantern into a young wizard who looked exactly like Ivan, hoping to use this method to stop the young wizard in front of him from tormenting it.
After all, few people would be willing to harm a creature that looked exactly like themselves.
Even if they did, they would certainly hesitate before taking action.
But Ivan wasn't swayed by this. Not only did he not hold back, but he became even more determined, waving the knife and trying to cut something from the Boggart!
Unfortunately, even after attempting to sever the Boggart's limbs and even cutting it in half, Ivan still had no success.
No matter how much he tormented it, even if it was cut into several pieces, the Boggart's injuries would quickly dissipate into smoke and it would return to its original form!
Ivan was quite frustrated. It seemed that Boggarts couldn't be harmed by conventional means; only laughter could affect them.
Why not give it a try and laugh a bit?
"Ha ha ha ha" Ivan immediately tried, doing his best to muster some emotion as he laughed.
Right after Ivan's laughter, the Boggart he had been toying with suddenly started to tremble violently. Moments later, it exploded with a "bang", turning into wisps of green smoke that drifted in the air!
Seeing this, Ivan's face darkened immediately.
What a joke, was his laughter really that terrifying?
The last Boggart had withstood the laughter of over a dozen young wizards and was tormented for an entire class period before it finally broke down. Why was this Boggart's endurance so poor?
Ivan couldn't help but complain in his mind. However, when he saw the scattered green smoke, he had an idea and tried to use his wand to guide the smoke into a vial. He then checked the magic items section in the system.
【Magic Item: Boggart Residue
Description: This is the residue left behind after a Boggart dies, containing some mysterious Magic Power】
"Could this replace blood?" Ivan hesitated, remembering that Slytherin's research notes mentioned using key parts from magical creatures as a substitute for blood.
The Boggart residue in the vial wasn't necessarily crucial, but it definitely contained the power of the Boggart, considering it was essentially the creature's "remains."
Gurgle
At that moment, the cauldron in the center started to bubble and boil. Ivan turned to look and saw that the fusion potion had turned into a chaotic mixture, indicating that it was complete.
Without hesitation, Ivan walked to the cauldron and tried to incorporate the green mist from the vial into the potion.
If it didn't work, he would have to give up on fusing with the Boggart, find another magical creature, and brew a new fusion potion, which would cost him a lot of Galleons.
Fortunately, things weren't that bad. The mist was quickly absorbed by the fusion potion, blending together. The chaotic potion gradually turned a light green, as if it had been stained by the mist.
【Magic Item: Improved Fusion Potion (Boggart)
Properties: Unknown (depends on fusion effect)
Description: This is a unique potion researched by Salazar Slytherin, allowing wizards to gain the powers of magical creatures. However, if the user lacks appropriate protection, there is a high probability of death due to Magic Power overload】
After reviewing the potion's attributes, Ivan sighed in relief. Using the Boggart residue to replace blood had indeed been the right choice.
As for the warning about potential death, Ivan didn't pay much attention. The Protection Mode he had exchanged for five legendary points was meant to eliminate such risks!
With that in mind, Ivan poured the potion from the cauldron into a bottle, preparing to drink it.
He chose the Boggart for the bloodline fusion instead of other more powerful and dangerous magical creatures because Ivan had already realized that he was different from ordinary wizards. His unique powers might enhance the Boggart Transformation ability!
If that were the case, the Boggart Transformation wouldn't just be a mere showpiece.
