Chapter 385: The Jewelry Company Name
Chapter 385: The Jewelry Company Name
After signing the contract with Mo Libin, Lu Jiaxin finally asked, "I bought twelve stocks on Wall Street, and all twelve have risen, although some have seen smaller gains. I'm thinking of selling the four with the smallest increases and buying them again. Do you have any good recommendations?"
Mo Libin's gaze toward Lu Jiaxin changed as he heard that all twelve stocks she bought had risen. "Did you buy those yourself, or did Nie Zhan give you the tips?"
Nie Zhan really understood Miss Lu, and it seemed that this friend had put in a lot of effort to pursue her in the past. Indeed, it was rare to find such a clever and financially capable young lady.
Lu Jiaxin was aware of the outside rumors about her relying on Nie Zhan, and she smiled as she replied, "I bought them myself, but we did chat about America's economy and future development."
"Miss Lu, may I ask what are the twelve stocks that you bought?" Mo Libin inquired.
Lu Jiaxin wrote down the stocks she had purchased for him to see. These companies still existed more than three decades later, but their stock prices varied depending on their development stage. Just like Apple, it wasn't as popular as it would become in the future, and its increase in value was minimal. Through her analysis, she attributed this to the person in charge. In other words, Apple's stock price would soar only when Steve Jobs took the helm.
Mo Libin looked at the list, which included names like Coca-Cola, Altria, IBM, Walmart, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, and Apple. He was familiar with these companies and their positive growth trajectories.
Putting down the list, Mo Libin smiled and said, "Miss Lu, the stocks you bought are all from companies that are indispensable in daily life."
Lu Jiaxin's reasoning was that through her analysis, she believed that America's food, beverage, and tobacco industries had been performing very well in recent years, hence her decision to invest in these stocks.
Mo Libin praised, "Miss Lu, you have a keen eye. Indeed, America has been doing exceptionally well in the food and beverage sector in recent years. Coca-Cola, in particular, is preparing to expand overseas."
Lu Jiaxin, of course, was aware of Coca-Cola's dominance, as it would remain a powerhouse for the next two decades.
Mo Libin had done his homework and immediately recommended five stocks that he favored, explaining his reasons for his optimism about them.
Lu Jiaxin nodded repeatedly as she listened, acknowledging his expertise, "Alright, let's buy those five stocks. Also, I'm considering making some overseas investments. Do you have any good suggestions in that regard?"
The fact that she was contemplating overseas investments indicated that she had ample funds. Mo Libin didn't know how she had accumulated such wealth, but he could be sure that she had earned it herself and that it had nothing to do with Nie Zhan.
"That depends on whether you're looking for short-term or long-term investments, and whether you're interested in Southeast Asia or Europe and America," Mo Libin advised. "The situation varies in each region, so our focus should differ accordingly."
The two chatted for the entire morning. After Mo Libin left, Lu Jiaxin rubbed her temples and then looked down at the notes she had taken. Mo Libin was truly impressive, able to eloquently discuss the political and economic developments of various countries. It would take her two to three days to digest all the information she had jotted down. It seemed she had not only acquired a personal financial advisor but also found herself a teacher, which was fantastic.
Before she knew it, the end-of-term exams had arrived. After the exams were over, Lu Jiaxin took a couple of days to relax before starting her at-home lessons. Hong Kong City University had a long vacation, starting in late May and resuming on September 1st, giving her a summer break of over three months. She couldn't possibly travel for the entire duration, so she planned to take lessons at home until July, then return to Sichuan to relocate her grandparents' graves, and finally, move houses. Once all these matters were settled, she could go on a trip.
Nie Zhan felt that she didn't need to rush, "You have good grades and are doing well in your business. The university will let you graduate without any issues."
Lu Jiaxin assured him that she knew what she was doing. According to her original plan, she wouldn't even have attended university, but it was her host body and Lu Mum's wish. Now that she had completed a year, she would follow the process and obtain her degree. This way, she could consider her task thoroughly accomplished.
Nie Zhan didn't understand what she was so fixated on, but since she didn't bring it up, he changed the subject. Knowing that she enjoyed hearing about business matters, he shared about his dealings with a man named Liang Weibo.
"Jiaxin, I've been in contact with a man named Liang Weibo. His family has a long history in the jewelry business. His father moved to Hong Kong City over two decades ago due to the war and opened a gold shop after establishing himself. Liang Weibo grew up helping out in the shop and has a deep understanding of the industry. After graduating from university, he joined the family business and has gained significant experience."
Lu Jiaxin trusted his judgment.
"Liang Weibo feels that their shop's scale is too small," Nie Zhan continued. "Operating on a small scale leads to high costs and a limited selection, making it challenging to attract customers. He wants to expand to increase competitiveness and profits."
That was a reasonable ambition, but Lu Jiaxin worried that they might not be willing to partner with them. "They have the ideas and the experience, but they lack funds. Would they be willing to let us have a larger share, leaving them as the third-largest shareholder?"
"As long as we sign an agreement that guarantees their interests sufficiently, they will definitely agree," Nie Zhan asserted. "After all, no one would pass up a lucrative opportunity."
Lu Jiaxin knew that he was more adept at business than her, so she smiled and said, "You can make the decisions regarding this matter. Just let me know if you need anything from me."
"We're going to set up a jewelry company," Nie Zhan said. "What do you think would be a good name?"
Lu Jiaxin thought for a moment and suggested, "Wufu Jewelry. The five blessings refer to longevity, wealth, health, virtue, and a peaceful end. Achieving these five blessings would make for a fulfilling life."
Nie Zhan liked the auspicious meaning behind the name and nodded in agreement. "If Liang Weibo agrees, I'll give him a twenty percent stake, and you can have forty-nine percent. The rest will be mine. Jiaxin, what do you think about this distribution?"
This allocation clearly favored her, and Lu Jiaxin pointed that out, "This distribution puts you at a disadvantage."
Nie Zhan smiled, "Don't say that. We'll be family soon. If you want, I can give you eighty percent of the shares. After all, it was your idea to start a jewelry company in the first place."
Lu Jiaxin felt that he was becoming more and more considerate. To use an old saying, a boyfriend like him would be hard to find even with a lantern in hand.
She smiled and said, "Twenty percent for Liang Weibo and forty percent each for us is fine. I won't have time to manage the company's internal affairs, but I can help design some novel styles."
Nie Zhan, being perceptive, immediately asked, "You can design jewelry, too?"
"Actually, jewelry design and fashion design have many similarities," Lu Jiaxin explained. "Just like the doucai lotus pattern on the gourd vase in my house, it can be used for both clothing and jewelry designs. It all depends on how you choose to utilize it."
Hearing this, Nie Zhan felt confident that their jewelry company would be a success.
