Chapter 383: Feather Carnival
Chapter 383: Feather Carnival
On the morning of January 9th, the sun shone brightly.
At the outdoor dining table of the Hot Spring Inn.
Jinghe took a sip of salty soy milk and then pulled out a youtiao (deep-fried dough stick) and stuffed it into her mouth.
It must be said that ever since Rotom's functions were gradually "unlocked," Jinghe had completely unleashed her creativity in the types and methods of food preparation.
Daye, being naturally sociable, walked out of the room and sat down at the table. She poured herself a bowl of creamy soy milk, took a sip, and then scooped two large spoonfuls of sugar into the bowl, causing Jinghe's eyes to twitch in disbelief.
"Outsider!"
"Huh?" Daye was puzzled.
"I feel like Swift Dragon would be a great fit for the speed race."
Sharon, with a bun in her mouth, couldn't help but speak up as she watched the excited Swift Dragon flying around in the sky.
"Speed race?"
Jinghe narrowed her eyes and looked up at the sky, where Swift Dragon was soaring with its mouth wide open, enjoying the freedom of flight.
Why does it feel more and more like a chubby Corgi with wings pretending to be a dragon?
Jinghe shook her head, quickly dismissing the thought.
Otherwise, every time she saw Swift Dragon, she would subconsciously make that association.
However, it must be said that despite Swift Dragon's plump appearance, its speed was indeed impressive.
The speed race mentioned by Sharon was actually one of the more prominent branches among the numerous Pokemon competitions in the Pokemon world.
It was at least more popular than the Ice Sculpture Competition.
It also had a large group of enthusiasts.
The speed race was further divided into two categories: land speed races and air speed races.
In the land speed races, most of the participating Pokemon were like Flamehorse and Unicorino.
For example, in the Pokemon XY series, the female protagonist Salina was an exceptional Unicorino speed racer.
The air speed races were also divided into individual and relay races.
Daye, with her mouth full of bun, mumbled, "Isn't Feather City preparing for the Feather Carnival?"
"Hmm?"
Jinghe was taken aback.
Feather City was located in the northernmost part of the Hoenn Region, and its Gym Leader, Nakki, was a trainer specializing in Flying-type Pokemon, known as the "Elegant Sky Dancer."
Due to the geographical locations of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions, Feather City was not far from the southwest corner of the Sinnoh Region, which was where they were currently located.
The Feather Carnival was an annual event held in Feather City, themed around the sky, and it included an air speed race.
However,
"How do you know so much about it?" Jinghe asked.
She didn't even have a single Flying-type Pokemon.
Daye smiled sheepishly upon hearing this.
"After the last time, I wanted to catch a Flying-type Pokemon, so I've been keeping an eye on the news related to them."
"I can recommend someone who might be able to help you."
As she spoke, Jinghe took out her phone and started scrolling through her contacts.
Daye leaned in to look, and even Sharon couldn't help but glance over.
"Mr. Dawu?"
When they saw the contact Jinghe had opened, Daye's expression froze.
He had participated in the performance competition in Lapis City with Sharon, Dawu, and others, so he was familiar with them.
Sharon also paused for a moment upon seeing Dawu's name, then smiled.
"Isn't Mr. Dawu the Dragon Messenger?" Daye asked.
Jinghe waved her hand dismissively, "It's close enough. If you have any questions about Flying-type Pokemon, he's your guy."
Daye nodded, and an image popped into her mind.
She imagined herself approaching Dawu to ask about Flying-type Pokemon, only for him to fly into a rage and point at her nose, exclaiming, "How dare you, you insolent child!"
She quickly shook her head, dismissing the thought.
That would be too dangerous.
However,
Speaking of which, Mr. Dawu did seem to have quite a few Flying-type Pokemon.
"I'll ask him for you."
As she said this, Jinghe suddenly became interested and dialed Dawu's number.
If she calculated the time correctly, the Rocket Team should still be on their New Year's vacation.
The call connected quickly.
"Dawu, it's me. I have a friend, Daye, who wants to ask you something."
Before she could finish her sentence, Dawu's surprised voice came through the phone.
"Jinghe? How did you know I was in Hoenn?"
"Hmm?"
Jinghe was taken aback.
What was Dawu doing in Hoenn?
"I was planning to tell you later, but I didn't expect your call to come so soon. Is this what they call a telepathic connection between friends?"
Who's telepathically connecting with you, a guy?
On the phone, besides Dawu's voice, there seemed to be the sound of howling wind.
"You're..."
Once again, Jinghe's words were interrupted by the voice on the phone.
"Where are your hands going?!"
The voice carried a hint of anger and a touch of petulance, as if it belonged to...
Xinchun?!
"Ah, sorry, it was an accident," Dawu quickly explained.
An image flashed through Jinghe's mind.
Dawu and Xinchun were riding on the back of a Swift Dragon, one in front of the other, and Dawu's hand accidentally...
"Hmph!"
Xinchun's cold huff brought Jinghe back to reality.
If it had been someone else, it might have been intentional.
But Dawu, being the straight-laced man he was, probably really did it by accident.
"Hey, Jinghe, we're almost at Yinyu City. Are you coming to the Feather Carnival?" Ado asked with a cheerful smile.
He had taken a rare vacation, and with no pressing matters at the Investigation Department, he decided to take Xinchun out for a ride.
Upon learning about the Feather Carnival in Hoenn, and the opportunity to meet old friends, he made the trip.
Jinghe glanced at Sharon, ignoring Daye, who was deep in thought beside her.
Sharon's lips moved silently, and although she made no sound, Jinghe could read her lips—
"Still on vacation."
Understanding her, Jinghe replied, "It's a bit far, and it'll take some time."
"No problem. It hasn't started yet anyway."
After that, the two hung up the call.
Jinghe shrugged and turned to Daye, "See? A normal 'Dragon Messenger' wouldn't attend the Feather Carnival."
Daye fell into deep thought.
Jinghe informed their Pokemon about their plan to participate in the Feather Carnival.
Upon hearing the news, Swift was naturally excited, but the one who was most thrilled was Gigaforg!
"Cha!" Gigaforg exclaimed, rubbing his hammer with excitement.
Big birds, hehe, all big birds!
Yinyu City, the northernmost city in Hoenn.
The time it took to travel from the southwest corner of Sinnoh to the northernmost part of Hoenn was even shorter than the flight from Kannagi City to Yinyu City.
Yinyu City wasn't a large metropolis, but it had a distinct urban character and was known as "The Tree-Top City that Plays with Nature."
Within Yinyu City, the vast majority of buildings were constructed atop towering trees.
Frequent heavy rains caused the trees here to grow much taller than those in other regions.
Inside and outside the buildings, one could often spot wild Bug-type Pokemon scurrying and fluttering about.
Additionally, surveys indicated that the residents of Yinyu City generally enjoyed good health and longevity.
Of course, Yinyu City wasn't just about its vast forests and tree-top dwellings; it also boasted spacious plazas and various aerial stages.
And the place where Jinghe and his group arrived was Yinyu City's Central Plaza.
The plaza was bustling with people, and stalls of all sizes were neatly arranged in every corner.
In the sky, various Flying-type Pokemon flew by from time to time.
There were Pidgey, Tranquill, Swellow, Megabat, Noivern, and even rarer Pokemon like Armaldo and Tropius.
"Gigaforg, calm down. Don't forget what we agreed upon," Jinghe said, placing a hand on Gigaforg's hammer.
The pink-haired girl with twin tails looked up at the flying Pokemon soaring above, nodding with some difficulty.
"Cha!"
Who would've thought that such an innocent-looking little fellow would be a "Big Bird Killer"?
"It's so lively here," Daye exclaimed, hands in his pockets, a slight smile on his face.
His posture, without exaggeration, carried a hint of a mischievous spirit.
Jinghe shot him a sideways glance.
A guy who didn't even have Pokemon with flying abilities, let alone Flying-types, was surprisingly interested in the Feather Carnival.
"Daye, have you heard this saying?"
"What?" Daye asked, looking puzzled.
"Back then, I had my hands in my pockets, and I didn't know what a competitor was."
Upon hearing this, Daye's smile widened, feeling that the saying fit him perfectly.
But then, Jinghe added with a hint of jest, "The next line is: Now I have my hands on my head, not knowing how to respond."
Daye: "..."
At that moment, Sharon, standing in front of a mochi stall, had a glint in her eyes as she pointed at the mochi.
"Jinghe, this one."
It was clear that Sharon was once again struggling with her choice, seeking help.
"Three red sugar dumplings, please!" Jinghe declared, waving his hand grandly.
The plaza was crowded with people, including vendors and tourists, as well as numerous Trainers.
Many seemed to be preparing for the upcoming Air Race at the Feather Carnival.
There were Trainers from Hoenn and other regions as well.
Jinghe had also learned some details about the Air Race.
The event was jointly organized by the Yinyu Gym and the Devon Corporation, attracting many participants due to its impressive prizes.
Some of the prizes included Sharp Beak, Omni Umbrella, Balloon, Air Safety, and more.
There was also the "Feather Set," which was a gift box containing Intellect Feather, Beauty Feather, Defense Feather, and other feathers, priced quite high.
"Why is the Devon Corporation involved in Hoenn events? It's almost as if Da Wu is here."
Additionally.
The Gym Leader of Yinyu City, Mikili, seemed to be the girlfriend of the Gym Leader of Sinnoh, Mikili?
If Mikili is also here...
The lineup for this Feather Carnival is getting a bit scary.
Jinghe lowered his head and spent some time on his phone.
"Let's go to the cafe first. Ado and the others are waiting for us there."

PS: The typhoon almost flooded my home due to the high floors. Sorry for the delay, I was busy with drainage.
