Chapter 382: Loki's Girlfriend, and Them
Chapter 382: Loki's Girlfriend, and Them
Roald thought it would be some time before he'd see Loki again, but to his surprise, the very next day, he spotted Loki at the guild.
Loki's complexion seemed a bit better than the day before as he inquired at the front desk, "Is that mission still available?"
"It is, but is your body fully recovered?" Roald asked.
"Grandmother Poluxica has already prescribed medicine for me. As long as I take it on time, I'll be fine," Loki replied with a sheepish smile. "It seems like I'll need a lengthy treatment, so I have to work hard to earn enough for the medical fees."
Makarov waved his hand, indicating to Roald, "Let him go."
"Alright," Roald agreed.
"Sorry, Loki," Mira apologized to him, "About yesterday..."
"It's fine. I'm the one who worried you," Loki said with a sunny smile. "I'll cooperate with the treatment from now on."
Roald handed him the mission form and finally asked, "Want to give it a try as a team?"
"Next time. This time, let me take the spotlight," Loki said, waving the mission form and turning to leave.
Roald glanced at the Guild Master.
The Guild Master shook his head, "It's fine. He knows what he's doing."
Makarov seemed very composed until Elusa arrived with her teammates:
"Guild Master, we want to take on this mission."
"No!" Makarov instinctively wanted to refuse, but he had no reason, "Cough, what mission is it?"
Elusa handed over the mission form, "To eliminate the Danpeng Clan, a group of bandits roaming near Carnation Village."
A subjugation mission, Makarov frowned.
Mira took a look and smiled, "It doesn't seem to be a problem, Guild Master."
Makarov sighed, letting them go. After all, they hadn't caused any complaints during the theater incident.
Roald also remembered that incident, "Didn't you guys just earn a big sum a few days ago?"
"Because my rent is high, and there are things I want to buy," Elusa explained.
Roald understood. After all, she rented five rooms by herself, and she also liked collecting clothes, armor, and weapons, which were all super expensive.
"Don't worry, Guild Master. The bandits' hideout is quite far from the village," Roald knew what was troubling the Guild Master.
Bad news, the Elite Squad was going into action again.
Good news, it probably wouldn't affect the nearby village.
Speaking of Carnation Village, it was a famous tourist destination with an excellent hot springs hotel.
Roald made a mental note to visit there when he had the time.
He reminded them, "Loki's destination is close to yours. If we hurry, we might be able to catch the same train as him."
"Oh? Then let's go quickly," Gray, who had been slightly concerned about Loki's condition, suggested.
"I don't want to take the train!" Natsu finally remembered his motion sickness, "Roald, lend me your big crab!"
"Stop complaining and let's go," Gray grabbed Natsu's arm and dragged him away, also thinking of a reason to convince Elusa, "Since we're teammates, we should act together. Motion sickness is something you can endure!"
Elusa nodded in agreement, "Don't worry, Natsu. If you can't bear it, I'll help you find a solution."
"No, please..."
Lucy and Happy followed, sneaking smiles at Natsu's plight.
...
Two days passed, and there was no news from the Elite Squad.
Makarov, feeling uneasy, attended the regular meeting, praying that nothing major would happen.
It was only after he left that the squad returned.
Elusa casually handed in the mission report, indicating everything went smoothly. Lucy, looking glum, ordered lunch and sat quietly at the counter, lost in thought.
Natsu and Gray were a sight to behold, their bodies covered in wounds, with bandages wrapped around their heads and bodies as if they had just emerged from a fierce battle.
Rod pointed at the two bickering guys, "Are you sure everything went well?"
"Hmm? You mean them? They're just injured from a pillow fight," Elusa waved her hand dismissively, "I'm going to buy some things, I'll be off first."
Is it normal to get injured from a pillow fight? Rod recalled the time Mira had knocked him flying with a pillow. Well, it's normal.
"You fire-breathing idiot, are you still not admitting defeat?"
"Huh? You're the one who lost!"
After a kindergarten-level argument, they both turned to Lucy, "Lucy, I won, right?"
"Shut up," Lucy rarely showed a fierce expression.
"S-sorry!" The two clumsy guys were momentarily silenced by Lucy's stern look.
Lucy sighed, her mind was filled with thoughts of Loki. During their mission, Loki had suddenly claimed that his days were numbered...
Although he had said it as a joke, Lucy couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it, and Loki's behavior had been strange as well.
"Mr. Rod, Miss Mira, do you know what illness Loki has?" Lucy had heard that Rod had carried him to see a doctor a few days ago.
"I don't know, the grandmother wouldn't tell me," Rod only knew it was troublesome and wouldn't be cured in a day or two.
Mira asked, "What happened?"
"I met him yesterday..." Lucy shook her head, "Maybe I'm overthinking it."
Suddenly, a group of girls burst into the guild, a diverse bunch, each one incredibly beautiful.
As soon as they entered, they noisily demanded to see Loki, some were strangers, while others seemed to know each other.
Many people in the tavern immediately had their attention drawn to this group of girls, and upon hearing the name of the person they were looking for, they silently cursed Loki in their minds.
Perhaps this was a case of too much of a good thing being just as bad.
The girls pushed and shoved their way to the counter, asking in a chaotic chorus:
"Is Loki here?"
"He..."
"Has Loki come by?"
"Loki..."
"Where's Loki? Why did he break up with me?"
"Me too, I'm not giving up!"
Rod tried to interject several times but couldn't find an opening. These grannies were giving him a headache.
A few of them started crying as they spoke.
With no other choice, Rod had to shield Mira behind him. It was better to let the women communicate with each other.
In truth, Mira couldn't communicate with this group of girls either.
She recognized a few of them as girls from town, and they were all ordinary people.
From their words, it seemed like Loki had broken up with all his girlfriends at once.
Mira didn't understand the pain of a breakup, but she could imagine.
She also didn't know how to comfort these people. Should she suggest they cut Loki into pieces and share him? Unable to think of a solution, Mira 'had no choice but to' seek help: "Lucy, do you know where Loki went?"
"Huh?"
Lucy was taken aback, and in the next moment, she was surrounded by a group of girls.
"Who are you?"
"You must be Loki's true love, right?"
"Damn it, did Loki break up with us for this woman?"
"On closer inspection, she's quite cute, isn't she?"
"Not at all! But I won't deny that I love you (whispering). Miss Mira, don't pass the trouble to me!" Lucy fled in panic.
