Chapter 382: Fang Yufly is a Little Afraid of Palace Nine
Chapter 382: Fang Yufly is a Little Afraid of Palace Nine
In the imperial capital, at the South Gate.
Lu Xiaofeng stretched lazily, "I won't be back in the capital for three years!"
Gongsun Daniang and Ouyang Qing were planning to stay in the capital, while Lu Xiaofeng wanted to travel to Guanzhong with Fang Yufly. Su Shaoying, on the other hand, was preparing to return to Emei with Ma Xiuzhen, as they had received a message from their martial arts sect.
Just as the two groups were about to bid farewell at the South Gate, they spotted a young girl blocking the honest monk's path at a teahouse in the distance.
The girl was quite pretty, though she had a youthful face, and exuded an air of worldly experience.
"Really?" Lu Xiaofeng's eyes gleamed, "Could it be that the honest monk has been dishonest again?"
"Amituofo!" The honest monk sighed helplessly, his voice carrying from a distance, "The monk has always been honest."
"Then why were you all over me? Don't you like me?" The girl tilted her head and asked, "I came out to find you, so you can't reject me now, can you?"
"Huh?" Lu Xiaofeng immediately perked up, taking a quick stride to reach the teahouse entrance.
"Tell me, how did this monk wrong you? I'll stand up for you!" Lu Xiaofeng said with a mischievous smile.
The girl immediately replied, "I was doing good business when this monk suddenly ruined it for me by scaring away several of my customers. Don't you think he's interested in me?"
As for the nature of her business, it was obvious to everyone present, with no need for further explanation.
"Makes sense!" Lu Xiaofeng nodded vigorously, his gaze at the honest monk filled with teasing, "Who would've thought your preferences would become so twisted?"
The honest monk sighed, "You don't understand anything."
"I only know that you've ruined several matches," Lu Xiaofeng chuckled.
The girl nodded, a hint of coquettishness appearing on her youthful face as she looked at Lu Xiaofeng with a hint of amorousness in her eyes, "You're such a nice person. Good people will always be rewarded."
The honest monk's eyes shifted, and he said to the girl, "Although I ruined your chances with those men, I foresaw that they were not meant to be your true partners. Your soulmate has yet to appear."
"But he's here now!" The honest monk solemnly pointed at Lu Xiaofeng and said, "It's him!"
Lu Xiaofeng's eyes widened, "Me? Me and her?"
The honest monk nodded, turning to the girl, "This man is the most suitable partner for you."
The girl looked at Lu Xiaofeng with curiosity in her eyes, "What's so special about him? Does he have two more eyebrows than others?"
The honest monk said, "He also has two more fingers that are worth a fortune."
The girl's eyes lit up instantly.
Lu Xiaofeng, intrigued, said, "I never thought the monk would take on the role of a matchmaker. When did you switch from Buddhism to Taoism?"
"Temples also offer fortune-telling services for relationships," the honest monk replied.
Just then, a luxurious carriage exited through the South Gate. Su Shaoying turned to look and recognized it as the same carriage from the Taiping Wang Manor that they had seen earlier in the city.
However, upon seeing this carriage, the honest monk's expression changed, and he said to the girl, "I'll make it up to you by introducing you to Lu Xiaofeng."
Without another word, the honest monk turned and left.
The girl didn't pursue him but instead smiled at Lu Xiaofeng, "Your name is Lu Xiaofeng. Does that mean you're a little phoenix?"
Lu Xiaofeng replied seriously, "The fenghuang is male, while the huang is female. You should get that straight."
"So, you're male?"
"Then, will you take care of my business?" The girl asked, her eyes narrowing into slits, and her cheeks dimpled adorably.
"Of course!" Lu Xiaofeng nodded, "But I don't have time right now. Where do you do business?"
Lu Xiaofeng was a kind-hearted man who never discriminated against anyone's profession. He understood that everyone had their struggles, especially a young woman who had to make a living from a young age.
He was even touched by the girl's innocence and cheerfulness.
Clapping her hands, the girl laughed, "Just promise me that, and I'll find you!"
Before Lu Xiaofeng could respond, she waved and said, "Someone's here to pick me up. I'm off!"
With that, she bounced away.
Lu Xiaofeng shook his head, amused. "What a naive little girl," he thought.
"Next time I see that honest monk, I'll have to ask him how he bullied this girl," Lu Xiaofeng muttered to himself.
However, when he turned back, he noticed that Fang Yufly's face had turned slightly pale. "What's wrong?" he asked.
Fang Yufly quickly shook her head. "Nothing. Let's go!"
Lu Xiaofeng blinked, feeling that something was amiss.
Just then, a horse carriage passed by the tea shop, arrogantly taking up the entire road. Fang Yufly's body stiffened momentarily before she relaxed again.
Lu Xiaofeng, with his arm around Fang Yufly's shoulders, joked, "Did you see that carriage?"
"Yes," Fang Yufly replied, seemingly confused. "What about it?"
"That's from the Taiping Wang Manor," Lu Xiaofeng said. "And inside is a peerless swordsman. Do you believe me?"
Fang Yufly's pupils contracted sharply, and she quickly regained her smile, shaking her head. "I don't believe it."
"Haha! Great minds think alike because I don't believe it either!" Lu Xiaofeng raised his eyebrows at Su Shaoying and then pulled Fang Yufly along. "Let's go. I've heard so much about this place, and I'm eager to experience the legendary Silver Hook Gambling Den!"
...
As Lu Xiaofeng and Fang Yufly left, Su Shaoying and Ma Xiuzhen remained where they were.
"Should we go too?" Ma Xiuzhen asked.
Su Shaoying nodded. Although he wasn't sure if the young girl was Niutou Tang, it was clear that Fang Yufly knew Palace Nine and seemed a little afraid of her.
There was definitely a connection between the Black Tiger Hall, the Taiping Wang Manor, and Nameless Island, which explained why Palace Nine didn't take revenge for Sha Man.
Su Shaoying shook his head, amused by the idea that Palace Nine loved Sha Man. It was nonsense; she was just a toy, and Palace Nine was angry because someone had stolen it.
"What are you laughing about, Second Senior Brother?" Ma Xiuzhen asked.
"I'm laughing because we have company on our journey," Su Shaoying replied.
"Who?" Ma Xiuzhen inquired.
"Senior Sister! Senior Brother!" Two figures emerged from the side of the tea shop. One of them, a woman in a green skirt, waved and said, "I knew you hadn't left yet."
"Fourth Junior Sister, what are you doing here?" Ma Xiuzhen asked, delighted to see Shi Xiuxue and Hua Manlou with her. "I thought you weren't interested in their duel?"
Hua Manlou smiled, "The duel is over, isn't it?"
Shi Xiuxue added, "I wanted to see Second Senior Sister, and Hua Manlou accompanied me."
Ma Xiuzhen nodded. "Second Senior Sister is fine. On our way back to Emei, we'll pass by Wan Mei Manor, so we can pay them a visit."
