Chapter 381: Who is the True Gryffindor Prefect?
Chapter 381: Who is the True Gryffindor Prefect?
Ron let out a slow breath of relief when he saw his pet, which he had thought was about to jump off the building, saved by Ivan using the Accio spell. He hurriedly took Scabbers from Ivan’s hands.
"What’s wrong with Scabbers?" Ron noticed the plump rat in his hands seemed to have lost consciousness and didn’t show any signs of waking up no matter how he shook it. He asked worriedly.
"It’s nothing serious, just a bit too excited. I was worried it might have some issues, so I thought it would be better for Scabbers to take a nap!" Ivan casually explained.
"Thank you so much, Ivan!" Ron said, deeply moved.
Ron felt that Ivan, besides himself, was the best person for Scabbers. Not only did Ivan often feed and care for Scabbers, but he even considered its mental health, something even Ron, the owner, couldn’t do!
Ivan waved his hand, indicating it was nothing. However, his frown didn’t ease as he looked at the rat in Ron’s hands.
Although he had already cast the Obliviate spell on Peter Pettigrew, making Peter forget what happened tonight, Peter would eventually hear about Sirius Black’s infiltration from other sources.
Peter’s plans to escape would definitely increase in frequency!
Ivan understood that he needed to resolve the Scabbers issue as soon as possible and clear Sirius’s name. Otherwise, if something went wrong, it would be problematic.
Just as Ivan was thinking, the noise outside the door grew louder.
"What’s going on? What happened?"
"Who hit me? Who is it? Someone just rushed out!"
"Which bastard can’t sleep at night? What’s with all the screaming?"
Due to Ron and the others’ cries being so intense, all the young wizards in the Gryffindor dormitory were awakened. The bold little lions quickly came out to check the commotion and soon gathered at the door of Harry’s dormitory.
"Quiet! Quiet!"
In the midst of the crowd, Prefect Percy Weasley tried to maintain order in the chaotic scene, but it was too chaotic, and no one was listening to him.
Ivan, whose thoughts were disrupted, cast a Sonorus charm on himself and shouted.
"Quiet!"
The amplified voice instantly drowned out the noise, causing the young wizards to cover their ears and look towards Ivan.
Ivan lowered his voice and explained, "Here’s what happened. Someone just broke into our dormitory."
"It must be Sirius Black! He’s here to kill Harry!" Ron interrupted before Ivan could finish.
The young Gryffindors were immediately in an uproar, filled with fear. Everyone’s gaze fell on Harry, looking at him with worried and anxious expressions, as if Harry was about to die.
Harry was completely confused.
He had read in the Daily Prophet that Sirius Black was after him, but Harry still didn’t know why Sirius wanted to kill him.
"Cough, cough", Ivan cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the young wizards back to him. He reassured them, "Don’t worry. Sirius Black was scared off just now. As long as we stay together, there should be no danger of another attack."
Ivan knew Sirius wouldn’t attack anyone, but the others wouldn’t believe him, and it wasn’t the right time to speak up for Sirius.
Noticing the panicked and fearful expressions on everyone’s faces, Ivan sighed and continued, "For now, we can all go to the Gryffindor common room and wait for the professors to arrive. It’s more spacious and can accommodate all of us."
Under the effect of the Sonorus charm, Ivan’s words were clearly heard by everyone. The young wizards, who were initially at a loss due to the sudden attack, calmed down.
Having someone direct what to do was better than wandering around aimlessly like headless flies.
Moreover, Ivan had done many things that even adult wizards couldn’t accomplish, so they respected him. Besides, Ivan’s suggestion made sense.
"Strange, where’s the Prefect?" Ivan looked around the crowd, puzzled. These tasks should have been handled by the Prefect.
The young Gryffindors moved aside, allowing Percy Weasley, who had been blocked at the door, to come in.
"Percy, why are you just getting here? Never mind, take a few older students and go find Professor Mcgonagall and Professor Dumbledore. Remember to be careful!" Ivan remembered they needed to inform the professors and decided to assign this task to Percy, as a Prefect should handle the most dangerous tasks.
Well, at least it seemed dangerous to others to go out and find the professors at this time.
"Me?!" Percy pointed at himself, looking confused at Ivan.
Wait, who is the true Gryffindor Prefect?
Just as he was about to assert his authority, two hands suddenly grabbed his shoulders and dragged him away.
"George, Fred, I command you to let me go in the name of the Prefect!" Percy shouted, but George and Fred ignored him and laughed at Ivan.
"Sure thing, Hals! We’ll take Percy. You remember to protect Harry."
Ivan nodded and then led the Gryffindor students to the common room.
Once they arrived, Ivan waved his wand at the fireplace, and a warm fire immediately blazed up, driving away the night’s chill and calming the students’ agitated hearts. They began to discuss in small groups.
Soon, the door to the Gryffindor common room burst open, and Professor Mcgonagall, looking anxious, entered with Percy and others.
She surveyed the room, her gaze landing on Harry. Seeing that he was unharmed, she breathed a sigh of relief and then turned to Ivan, asking worriedly.
"Hals, George and Fred told me that Sirius Black broke in just now. Is that true? Was anyone hurt?"
"Everyone is here, and everyone is fine!" Ivan said first, then continued.
"Additionally, we did see a stranger break into the dormitory, but he has escaped."
