Chapter 381: The Three Supreme
Chapter 381: The Three Supreme
After being knocked down repeatedly, Edward Wibbur remained on the ground, gazing at the decapitated Miss Bargin before him, and couldn't help but burst into tears.
"Mom, I can't avenge you. Waaah! Dad, I can't inherit your legacy either! This guy is so despicable, Dad!"
Sage returned to his normal state and picked up the photo that had been knocked out of his embrace earlier.
The photo depicted a younger Whitebeard, wearing a captain's hat, with wavy golden hair flowing from beneath the brim, and a crescent-shaped beard that curled upwards, giving him an air of disdain.
"Still as formidable as ever," Sage recalled the aged Whitebeard with a smile and walked towards Wibbur, placing the photo in front of him.
"Huh? A mirror?" Wibbur was taken aback.
"What is your father's legacy?" Sage asked.
"That's right, that's my dad! Mom, Cataclysm has acknowledged it! Mom is wrong, she's dead!" Wibbur's eyes turned red again as he glared at Sage.
"It's not certain if that old hag is your mother. She was quite beautiful in her youth, and Whitebeard wasn't bad-looking either. It's unlikely that a child like you would be born from them."
"However, you were created with Whitebeard as a template, so there's a chance. I acknowledge that you're Whitebeard's son, but that old hag is definitely not your mother. Killing a stranger doesn't warrant such intense hatred towards me."
Whitebeard's biological son?
That's hard to say.
At least, genetically speaking, it doesn't add up.
Genetically, Monkey D. Luffy resembles his grandfather, and Ace resembles Gol D. Roger, even inheriting the scar on his face from his mother's appearance.
Sage and Robin are blood-related and look very similar.
If it were a natural birth, there's no way Wibbur would look like Edward Newgate or Bargin, aside from the beard.
But that power he possesses is indeed formidable.
Sage remembered that the old hag had a clone, but he couldn't recall the name.
Only a few people in the New World possess such technology. If the old hag had access to it, then Wibbur might be a modified human.
However, whether or not that's the case, it doesn't matter.
What Sage values is Wibbur's combat strength.
"You're lying! How can my mom not be my mom? She loves me the most! She will definitely help me find my dad's legacy!" Wibbur shouted.
"Is that so? But your mom doesn't know where the legacy is, but I do!"
"Huh?!"
"I know where Whitebeard's legacy is, and it's within my territory."
Sage smiled and said, "Everything within my territory belongs to me, and that island will eventually be found by me. Since you can't defeat me, that so-called legacy will be mine, right?"
Wibbur thought for a moment and nodded in agreement.
Indeed, he couldn't defeat Sage.
Nor could he protect the legacy.
"I can give you this legacy, as long as you pledge your loyalty to me."
Sage glanced at the shattered scythe and said, "Including your father's weapon, one of the Twelve Supreme Great Swords, the 'Cloudsplitter'."
"Clou... Cloudsplitter!"
Wibbur's eyes gleamed with excitement, nodding earnestly, "So that's its name! I asked Mom about it before, but she told me not to worry and that the treasure would be enough. But I still prefer Dad's weapon. You're a good person!"
He believed Sage's words after just two sentences.
Because he felt that Sage made sense.
He didn't look like Bargin at all.
And Bargin indeed didn't know about the legacy.
But Sage knew, and he even acknowledged being Whitebeard's son! Wibbur might be a bit foolish, but he could think for himself.
He respected and adored his mom, and attacking Whitebeard's remnants was her order. When facing Whitebeard's subordinates, he was only upset because they didn't acknowledge him as Whitebeard's son, which led to his actions.
Sage was different; he was a great pirate!
If he acknowledged it, it must be convincing! So everything he did was right!
Ignoring his injuries, Wibbur got up, letting his snot run freely, and said with a foolish grin, "Then I'll join you. You can't deceive me, or I'll get angry.
"Who do you think I am? I don't stoop to such petty tricks. Follow me, and I'll lead you to what you seek. Only under my rule can that island remain stable."
Sage smiled and turned towards Hawkins, "Old Hawkins, set sail. Urki, continue with what you were doing here."
He actually remembered this matter.
Sage had always been meticulous about treasures and collections.
In the past, he was preoccupied with making a living and had little time to ponder, but recently, with more free time, he had recalled some treasure-related matters.
Like Bargin, Sage also wondered about Whitebeard, a Quasi-King, and where all the treasures he had plundered over the years were now that he was dead. Surely he couldn't be as poor as some other guys.
Those types of guys, when they're poor as pirates, retire even poorer.
Whitebeard wasn't that kind of guy.
Then he remembered that it seemed to be on a certain island, and it also had one of the Twelve Supreme Great Swords.
This piece of information, when combined with the news from the Summit War, confirmed his suspicions.
After the Summit War, Red Hair took away Whitebeard and Fire Fist's bodies and their weapons.
Whitebeard's Scythe, Cloudsplitter, was one of the Twelve Supreme Great Swords!
That weapon, due to the difference in size, was unusable by Sage, and he didn't like scythes or greatswords anyway.
If he had to choose, he was actually quite interested in Big Momma's Napoleon.
For a pirate, a curved blade was the obvious choice.
Sage had experienced the benefits of Homiz and was determined to seize that old hag if he got the chance!
"Hmm, the weak link is now filled."
Sage retracted his thoughts and suddenly laughed, "I have everything I need, and now, few can stop me!"
Lily was growing steadily and improving day by day, becoming stronger.
Moriah was also gradually recovering, and it was estimated that within a few months, his Dominance would return to its former peak.
However, one of them had to manage the affairs of the territory, while the other was stationed on a subordinate island, often staying there. His personality as a reclusive shut-in was unchangeable.
Sage didn't force the issue; as long as they followed orders, what they did in their free time was their business.
But Sage always felt they lacked a vanguard, someone like Jack under Kaido or Krieg under Big Momma.
Although his subordinates performed well, none of them stood out as emblematic.
Now, with this new addition, not only was their fighting strength not weak, but they could also temporarily serve as a Supreme Executive, fulfilling Sage's long-held vision of the 'Triad'.
As a Pirate King, one must have three emblematic subordinates, and Sage couldn't be an exception.
They now occupied Whitebeard's territory, and some troublesome guys were still around. It wouldn't do for Hawkins and the others to have to deal with every issue, so Sage could send Lily and Moriah instead.
With a dedicated vanguard, Sage had finally filled a role he had wanted to strengthen.
As for Viper's shortcomings, there were none.
Although Sage had some fondness for Zephyr, it was more out of respect for a former powerhouse than anything else. Essentially, Viper was a pirate, and so was Wiper.
Cutting off Zephyr's hand meant nothing to Sage.
On the contrary, such an obedient and loyal guy was the perfect tool.
Within the Cataclysm Pirates, there were obedient members who were like hunting dogs.
Among the executive ranks was Bellamy, and among the Supreme Executives was Agin.
Now, with the addition of a Seven Warlords-level member, they could complete the 'Triad' within the Supreme Executives, serving as an obedient hunting dog.
Having members in each executive rank was a positive development.
"Now, the World Government has lost face again, Sage. You've consecutively recruited two Seven Warlords," Hawkins said from the side.
"Who cares about them? If they're unhappy, let them come to me!"
Sage grinned, "I doubt they have the guts!"
