Chapter 381: Malfoy and the Boggart
Chapter 381: Malfoy and the Boggart
The bell rang, and the countdown on the blackboard instantly disappeared, while the classroom door slammed shut with a loud 'bang'.
The sudden noise startled the students, and they watched as the heavy curtains in the classroom began to move, forcing the students to scatter and separate.
The curtains seemed to be enchanted with a Silencing Charm, for as soon as the students parted, their voices became distant, and the room fell into an eerie silence.
Each student felt like they were on their own isolated island.
Some students hurriedly navigated through the curtains, trying to regroup with their friends, only to find layer upon layer of curtains, leaving them puzzled—was the Dark Arts Defense classroom this big?
It felt as if they had entered another dimension.
Then, they heard rustling sounds nearby, and behind the curtains, a small shadow seemed to appear...
...
At that moment, Vold had already figured out what was going on, "Is there an Invisibility Expansion Charm in the classroom?"
He was all too familiar with this spell, and even without using his alternate vision, he could recognize it from experience.
"Haha, I knew you'd figure it out." Professor Flitwick said with delight, "I told Professor Sela that you're the expert in this field!"
Professor Abigail chuckled, "This is just a temporary setup. I'm in talks with Professor McGonagall about renovating the Basilisk's dungeon, and maybe you could put in a good word for me?"
"This has nothing to do with putting in a good word," Professor McGonagall frowned, "Renovating the school's dungeon involves many considerations. There's no funding allocated for this in the school's budget, and we also need to ensure student safety when entering and exiting the dungeon."
"Well, aren't we experimenting with it now?" Professor Abigail shrugged and continued with a smile, "I should also thank Vold. I didn't expect him to create all the magical creature dolls I requested so quickly. Otherwise, I would have only been able to introduce them to the Boggart today."
"Why not?" Professor Flitwick suggested enthusiastically, "Having both real and fake ones makes it more fun."
Professor Abigail: "Well, I guess so!"
The two professors quickly agreed and happily went to bring the Boggart as well, while Professor McGonagall pretended not to notice.
Vold said nothing and silently took the dolls out of his bag, one by one, while giving them more detailed commands—
For example, each student could only be attacked by one creature, no ganging up; they couldn't attack certain vital areas, cause permanent damage, or urinate or spit on the students...

Professor McGonagall listened from the side, a drop of cold sweat silently sliding down her forehead.
After the last doll was enlarged and held a wooden stick, grinning as it searched for its target, Professor McGonagall thought it over and decided to ask about something she couldn't accept:
"Vold, your dolls... will they really... you know... in public..."
Vold sighed helplessly.
"During the simulation, they did have similar movements."
"But..." Professor McGonagall still found it unbelievable, "Whose thoughts did you infuse into them?"
"Since I wanted to mimic magical creatures, this time, I chose some real magical creatures—who knew there would be such side effects."
Vold said with relief, "Fortunately, these are not for sale; otherwise, they would never sell."
- So, the students' mental health is not a concern?
Professor McGonagall wanted to ask this, but she held back, considering that these dolls were Vold's hard work, donated to the school for free. It was difficult to be picky about them.
Oh well, let it be.
Magical creature attacks had no bottom line, and it was good for the students to experience them in advance... to prevent them from being so scared in the face of real danger that they'd drop their wands after just being touched on the buttocks...
Professor McGonagall reassured herself, finally letting go of her worries for the students.
As Professor Flitwick used the Levitation Charm to bring in a large box, Vold had already set up the master mirror of the Flowing Mirror, with over a dozen mirrors floating in front of him, each displaying scenes from different corners of the room.
At Professor McGonagall's suggestion, one of the cameras continuously followed Draco Malfoy, ensuring the Slytherin didn't cause any more trouble.
Vold selected some exciting clips and edited them into a new video. Professor McGonagall intended to use this as evidence to request additional funding from the Ministry of Magic and the Board of Governors for renovations to the Dungeon.
...
Draco Malfoy didn't notice the extra pair of eyes above him.
He lifted one curtain after another, never seeing anyone else, but instead encountering a Grindylow. He broke its claws and managed to escape.
Draco felt agitated, and a hint of fear crept into his heart.
Suddenly, a tall figure appeared in front of him, resembling Blaise.
Draco excitedly ran over, lifted the curtain, and froze in shock.
"Fa...Father..." Draco stammered, "Why are you here?"
The tall figure before him was none other than Lucius Malfoy.
Lucius turned around, his eyes coldly fixed on Draco as if he were some kind of eyesore.
"Father?" Draco asked softly.
"Draco!" Lucius shouted angrily, "You have disgraced the family's honor and are unworthy of the Malfoy name! Get out! I don't have a son like you!"
The man roared and strode closer, resembling Professor Snape, causing Draco to retreat in panic and suddenly turn to run.
—What's going on? Why is Father saying this? Am I not his son? Could it be because of what happened with Crabbe last time...
Draco's thoughts raced in confusion.
—No matter what Father says, Mother will surely disagree. Yes, as long as I find Mother...
Draco didn't know where he was running, and he used his wand to conjure a giant black snake, which entangled a Red Hat that suddenly appeared. After turning a corner, he encountered an even more familiar figure.
Narcissa Malfoy, wiping away tears, cried, "I'm sorry, Draco... You're not my child or your father's. We found you in a Muggle's trash can... You're a Mudblood..."
"We've finally found our real child. You... You should go back to your Muggle parents..."
"No, it's impossible! I'm not a Mudblood!" Draco shouted in disbelief, unwilling to listen to his mother any longer, and he turned to run again.
Curtain, curtain, and more curtains...
Draco had a vague sense that something was amiss, and he saw a figure again.
This time, he saw Narcissa lying in a pool of blood, her face deathly pale, her grayish eyes staring blankly at Draco.
Draco: "Ahhhh—"
...
"Vold?" Professor McGonagall called out unhappily.
"It wasn't me, Professor," Vold said. "I don't know what's wrong with Malfoy. He always turns back to where the Boggart is."
"Then how did the curtains move..." Professor McGonagall started to say, but then she saw Professor Flitwick's ashamed expression.
"I'm sorry, it was me," Professor Flitwick apologized. "I wanted him to go to the outskirts, but I don't know what happened. The more I tried to stop him, the more he came this way..."
Professor McGonagall: "..."
She looked at Draco Malfoy sympathetically through her glasses and said, "Take the Boggart away... They haven't learned how to deal with these creatures yet."
