Chapter 38: Is Hypnosis Really Serious?
Chapter 38: Is Hypnosis Really Serious?
Sourin, the current head of the Hoenn Elite Four, specializes in Dragon-type Pokemon, earning him the title of a true Dragon-type Master.
As Jing He walked from the Pokemon Center toward the Scorching Heat Gym, he recalled the information he knew about Sourin.
All of this was information he had known from his previous life. After entering the Pokemon world, he learned through the internet that Sourin not only leads the Hoenn Elite Four but also oversees the Hoenn League's Investigation Department, wielding significant power.
Investigation Department!
Like Agatha, who Jing He was familiar with, was an Investigator in the Kanto League and would later become the Dragon-type Master (strike that) "Dragon" Master of the Johto League.
The fact that the Flareon incident had caught Sourin’s attention undoubtedly suggested that the matter was more serious than he had initially thought.
“Kya?”
The Gastly hiding in Jing He’s clothes seemed to sense his heavy heart and couldn’t help but ask.
“Nothing.”
Jing He wouldn’t burden Gastly with the troubles that weren’t necessary for a Pokemon to bear. After all, talking about it wouldn’t change anything, and the situation was still uncertain, just his speculation.
In his view, Gastly already worked hard with daily training and occasional battles. As a trainer, he shouldn’t add more pressure to Gastly.
Moreover, if Gastly didn’t enjoy training and battling, Jing He wouldn’t force it.
Raising a Gastly without training wouldn’t be much of a burden for him.
“By the way, we’ll be meeting another powerful Elite Four member soon. Behave yourself,” Jing He reminded.
“Kya?”
Another Elite Four member?
Gastly’s mind flashed back to the “argument” between Maura and Aisha.
Are the Elite Four really that strong?
Jing He made up his mind that for such a troublesome matter, he would assist if he could, but if not, he would distance himself early to avoid being swept away by the waves.
Soon enough, they arrived at the Scorching Heat Gym.
The grand red-tiled, white-bricked building with its wine-red pillars had several police cars parked outside.
“Miss Juniper.” Jing He greeted Miss Juniper politely as he entered.
Miss Juniper, looking serious, was reading a report, with a Growlithe sitting obediently by her side. Hearing Jing He’s voice, she looked up, her expression softening slightly, and nodded.
“Teacher Jing He, you’re here.”
She then directed her gaze toward a corner of the gym’s courtyard.
There, they could see the large Flareon and two elderly men.
One was naturally Maura, the gym leader of the Scorching Heat Gym.
The other wore a white captain’s hat and a wide black captain’s coat with a high collar and long hem.
It was none other than Sourin!
Led by Miss Juniper, the two approached the corner.
Their approach was quickly noticed.
Maura introduced them with a smile, “Sourin, this is Teacher Jing He. Jing He, this is Sourin, the Elite Four member.”
Hum—
Jing He immediately felt a sharp gaze shoot from under the brim of the hat.
It was a gaze that spoke of resilience and a bit of scrutiny.
But it quickly returned to normal.
Jing He remained composed, nodding in greeting, “Gym Leader Maura, Elite Four Sourin.”
The Gastly in his clothes, however, stiffened slightly.
“Kya”
Goodness, this old man is something else.
“Ha-ha-ha—”
Sourin laughed heartily, his voice slightly raspy but full of vigor, “I heard you and Mijin’s son solved the problem? Not bad, not bad at all.”
“And Aisha and Daphne,” Maura added.
Sourin gave him a sidelong glance, “You, shut up, a respectable Elite Four.”
“I’ve retired!”
“You’re still an Elite Four! And as the gym leader of the Scorching Heat Gym, you didn’t notice the anomaly at Chimney Mountain and had to let a few young people clean up your mess! I’ll tell Bonnie to dock the Scorching Heat Gym’s performance points this year!”
Maura glared back.
“Dock performance points? Tell Bonnie to come talk to me!”
“I’ll dock them as soon as I get back!”
“You—”
Watching the two argue, Jing He’s forehead creased with a black line as he looked at Miss Juniper.
Miss Juniper also looked helpless.
No wonder she had stood so far away earlier.
"Huff!"
Perhaps because Mura and Genji's argument was too loud, the Camerupt, which was already quite restless, became increasingly agitated. Its limbs shuffled nervously, and the volcano on its back began to emit small flames once more.
At the same time, Jing He's vision was once again filled with the Camerupt's Pokedex entry.
Camerupt
Type: Fire, Ground
Ability: Lava Armor
Moves: Rock Slide, Earthquake, Flamethrower, Roar, Tackle, Ember, Focus Energy, Stomp, Flame Burst, Amnesia, Smog, Earth Power, Headbutt
Mood: Unsettled, Suffering (It wants to go home, it misses its family)
Condition: Weak (Its body is abnormal, and it may never fully recover)
Friendship: -20 (Despite not remembering you, it clearly has no fondness for you)
"Huff!"
Steam began to rise from the Camerupt's body.
However, Mura and Genji showed no signs of stopping their bickering, seemingly oblivious to the Camerupt's agitation.
Seeing the Camerupt about to attack, Jing He let out a light sigh.
"Gengar."
"Kya!"
A black mist flew out of his clothes, materializing with a wicked laugh in front of the Camerupt.
The two Pokemon locked eyes, and Gengar used Hypnosis.
The Camerupt's movements gradually slowed, and Jing He approached.
He placed his hands on the Camerupt's neck and head, whispering softly in its ear.
A scene unfolded in his mind:
Twilight, the warm breeze blending with the fading light of the sunset, the evening sky dotted with red hues, the grassland's twilight colors exuding a comfortable laziness, accompanied by the gentle hums of Camerupt and its fellow Pokemon.
The Camerupt gradually calmed down, closing its eyes.
A contented smile appeared at the corner of its mouth.
The argument behind it had ceased, and Genji and the others watched as Jing He released the Camerupt, their expressions varied.
Gengar, satisfied, turned around to see:
A Gyrados with blood-red wings, exuding a deadly aura!
A Rapidash with its arms crossed, flames roaring around it!
Standing on either side of Gengar and Jing He, they scanned Gengar, Jing He, and the Camerupt with scrutinizing eyes.
"Kya?!" d(д)
Gengar looked terrified.
These two... no, these two...
Could they be... the Elite Four?!
Jing He, expressionless, picked up the stunned Gengar and walked past these two "gods" to the side.
"Kya, kya?"
Gengar swallowed hard, lowering its voice to ask:
You scared the living daylights out of me, Jing He. Aren't you afraid?
Jing He glanced at it, half-lifting his hand.
His palm trembled slightly.
"Nice work, I hear you're a Pokemon psychologist? You certainly have a talent for it."
Seeing the now extremely calm Camerupt, Genji couldn't help but praise, then asked:
"But... was that Hypnosis really proper?"
It was the first time he had seen a Pokemon smile after being hypnotized, and that smile gave him an inexplicable sense of comfort.
"Kya!"
Before Jing He could respond, Gengar jumped out.
What do you mean by 'proper'?
What kind of question is that?
Is there such a thing as a 'proper' Hypnosis?
Hmm?
The first part was fine, but as Jing He listened, he felt something was off, so he pushed Gengar behind him.
"Ah, my apologies, Elite Four Genji. We already told Gym Leader Mura everything that day. Is there anything else you want to know?" Jing He asked directly.
"I think you probably know that there are more Pokemon like this Camerupt, and we still haven't found a good way to handle them. So, I was wondering if you could help with the others."
"I refuse."
Before Elite Four Genji could finish, Jing He firmly rejected.
"Elite Four Genji, you know this isn't a simple matter. Calming a rampaging Pokemon is far from easy. Gengar and I are just ordinary trainers and Pokemon. We're not unwilling to help, but our energy is..."
"Kya, kya!"
Gengar nodded vigorously, like a hammer pounding.
We're really tired, and those Pokemon are so aggressive.
"Ten thousand League Coins per Pokemon."
"Deal."
"Kya?!" Σ(дlll)
What, what?
