Chapter 38: Adoption
Chapter 38: Adoption
Upon hearing this, An Hou Nian nodded and proceeded to introduce, "The Sunray Breeding Base covers an area of 505 acres, and at the center of the base is a breeding pool spanning around 100 acres."
Combining this with Li Qian's previous request, An Hou Nian continued, offering a suggestion for modification, "Building an artificial hill within this breeding pool to create an artificial waterfall shouldn't be an issue."
Li Qian listened quietly without saying a word.
An Hou Nian understood and didn't waste any time. He continued, "The breeding base is well-equipped with various facilities, and the basic conditions fully meet our current breeding needs."
Giving Li Qian a moment to process, An Hou Nian paused for a moment before changing the topic, "Of course, this Sunray Breeding Base also has its issues."
This statement immediately piqued Li Qian's interest.
He was well aware that even though he favored the Sunray Breeding Base, the choice of a breeding base couldn't be taken lightly, and everything had to be evaluated based on objective investigation results.
He couldn't let his emotions cloud his judgment just because his mother worked there.
Seeing Li Qian's attentive expression, An Hou Nian continued without pause, "Currently, there are three prominent issues. Firstly, if the High Family Breeder leaves, the entire breeding base will lack a competent breeder."
"Moreover, the three existing apprentice breeders are also likely to resign as a result."
Li Qian heard this but remained unconcerned, giving a slight smirk.
After some thought, he expressed his thoughts, "It's not a big problem. It would be best if the three apprentice breeders stay, but if they want to leave, there's no need to keep them."
It was evident that even if they successfully acquired the Sunray Breeding Base, the most significant contribution of the base at present would be the breeding of the Green Scaled Dragon.
And for breeding the Green Scaled Dragon, the three apprentice breeders, even if they stayed, wouldn't make much of a difference.
Noticing Li Qian's attitude, An Hou Nian didn't hesitate and proceeded to the second issue, "Secondly, some of the equipment in the breeding base is relatively outdated. After taking over, we might need to update or upgrade these devices."
Li Qian nodded slightly upon hearing this.
In reality, the evolution of carp didn't require any specific breeding equipment.
Dragon bone powder could be purchased directly from offline stores or the Pet Beast Marketplace, and there was no need to go through the trouble of making it themselves, as it wouldn't save much money in practice.
The breeder industry had developed to the point where the system had become very robust, and the division of labor was quite refined. As long as there was money and contribution points, most breeding resources could be bought directly.
Whether or not research yielded results, breeding equipment did have an impact, but it wasn't significant. What mattered more was research inspiration and concepts.
Of course, with sufficient funding, updating a batch of commonly used equipment was still quite necessary.
Seeing that Li Qian didn't say anything, An Hou Nian continued, "Lastly, the breeding base currently lacks high-value beasts."
"Most of the beasts in the base are Wood Attribute and Common Attribute beasts..."
Li Qian had anticipated this and wasn't surprised.
If the breeding base was doing well and thriving, his mother, Han Yuying, wouldn't have gone over a decade without a raise in salary.
It's quite normal for a poorly performing breeding base to lack high-value beasts, isn't it? Moreover, for a breeding base, its value lies not in the beasts but in the breeding capabilities.
In reality, common and abundant beasts like the carp and Crimson Feather Chicken, despite their seemingly low potential, often hold unexpected value.
Take the carp, for instance. After Li Qian discovered its evolutionary path to the Green Scaled Dragon, sharing this knowledge could potentially elevate the entire species to a new level, akin to a fish leaping through the dragon gate.
While it might not reach the point where everyone adores them, a tenfold increase in value is undoubtedly achievable.
After spending a few more minutes, An Hou Nian briefly introduced other aspects of the Sunray Breeding Facility.
Perhaps due to time constraints, the investigation didn't yield much information, but it was sufficient for Li Qian's reference and comparison.
After discussing the Green Scaled Dragon and touching on basic cooperation matters, Li Qian didn't train for long that evening and left around 7 p.m.
He joined the An family's three generations for a meal in Lingwater City.
The meal was quite sumptuous, and knowing the An Clan's financial situation, Li Qian didn't hold back on ordering.
Whatever the Ans ordered, Li Qian ate, indulging in a rare extravagant feast.
After reminding them to focus on the Sunray Breeding Facility but not neglect the other facilities, Li Qian bid farewell to the An family.
...
The next morning, Li Qian, for once, skipped class.
He went to the Pet Beast Rescue Station in Lingwater City.
Passing by the rescue station on their way home, he thought of the Tail Feather Fish that was captured by the Black God Sect as an experimental subject.
Due to previous financial constraints, Li Qian had to prioritize ensuring Qizi's evolution. Hence, after the fish fully recovered and was discharged, he didn't immediately adopt it.
In fact, when he initially rescued the fish, Li Qian had the intention to adopt it, but financial constraints at the time prevented him from taking action.
Now, with five million Federation Credits in hand, Li Qian didn't delay any further.
Upon inquiring at the rescue station, he learned that the Tail Feather Fish hadn't been adopted yet and was being kept in a pond in the station's backyard.
Li Qian hurried over, and shortly after getting the information, he went straight to the pond and saw the Tail Feather Fish again.
As soon as he approached, the little fellow recognized him.
The fish's tail, resembling a peacock's, gracefully unfurled in mid-air.
It was evident that the fish was delighted to see Li Qian.
"Little one, I'm here to adopt you. If you're willing to come with me, just leap out of the water and give a twirl."
Without hesitation, the fish leaped out of the water and twirled in the air, expressing its willingness.
"This Tail Feather Fish has great potential."
The station master, a lady in her fifties whom Li Qian addressed as Niao, witnessed this scene, and a smile couldn't help but surface on her wrinkled face, "Before, many Beastmasters wanted to adopt it, but they were all rejected!"
"It seems like it was waiting for you!"
Li Qian chuckled, feeling the fish's joy, and his heart warmed, "Its willingness to follow me is probably related to my saving it!"
Niao looked at Li Qian and said gently, "I hope you'll treat it well."
Li Qian nodded in agreement, "Niao, rest assured, I'll nurture it well..."
As he spoke, he glanced at the fish in the pond.
