Chapter 379: Sirius Infiltrates the Castle
Chapter 379: Sirius Infiltrates the Castle
After dinner, Ivan did not return to the Gryffindor common room with Harry and the others. Instead, he found an excuse to head to the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor to prepare a new Bloodline Fusion Potion.
With the experience from his previous two Potion-making sessions, Ivan was already quite adept. He took the Potion ingredients that Dobby had bought, processed them one by one, and placed them into the cauldron.
His Potions skill had already reached level six, so he no longer needed to use Academic Points to temporarily boost his Potion-making abilities.
In less than half an hour, the mixture in the cauldron began to boil under the influence of magic. Seeing that it was about right, Ivan covered the cauldron to prevent any debris from falling in and affecting the Potion's effectiveness.
Considering that the Potion ingredients needed several days to fully blend and settle, Ivan did not stay in the Room of Requirement. After instructing Dobby to keep an eye on things, he began searching the entire castle for a Boggart.
The Boggart in the Staff Room had already been made to explode by the Young Wizards, so Ivan had to find another one. If he remembered correctly, there were other Boggarts in the school, specifically the one Professor Lupin had used for Harry to practice the Patronus Charm. However, Ivan had long forgotten its exact location.
After all, it had been many years, and such a minor detail was something he had never paid attention to back then.
If all else failed, he would have to write a letter to Fluer or Aisha, asking them to buy or catch a Boggart and send it to him.
Over the next few days, Ivan spent his time brewing the Potion and searching for the Boggart. The Potion-making went smoothly, and the Potion was nearing completion. However, the search for the Boggart proved challenging. He had explored all the accessible parts of Hogwarts, except for the Professors' offices and Staff Rooms, but still found no Boggart.
"Do I really have to search each Professor's office?" Ivan was quite troubled. It was not a good idea, but there was nowhere else to look. A Boggart couldn't possibly be hiding in some secret passage, could it?
Another thing that puzzled Ivan was that since he had exchanged the broken Time Turner with Professor Dumbledore, the old Professor seemed to have disappeared from the school. He hadn't seen Dumbledore's name on the Marauder's Map for several days.
Ivan was lost in thought until he returned to the dormitory, where he was interrupted by Ron and Harry discussing the Quidditch match.
Seeing Ivan push the door open, Harry turned around and spoke.
"Ivan, this morning during Quidditch practice, Captain Wood asked me to pass on a message. He wants to know if you're still interested in joining the team for this year's Quidditch matches. You can still sign up if you want!
Wood is leaving the school next year, so he doesn't want to have any regrets about his last Quidditch match."
"I should have told you guys that I'm not participating this year. Besides, if I join, the Gryffindor team will have one too many players!" Ivan rolled his eyes.
He already felt like he didn't have enough time as it was. With his packed schedule and the hours he spent searching for the Boggart, there was no way he could spare the time to practice Quidditch.
Harry shrugged, not particularly bothered. He was just passing on Wood's message.
After a busy day, Ivan was already quite tired and didn't chat much with Harry and the others. He quickly fell into a deep sleep as soon as he lay down on his bed.
However, before falling asleep, Ivan vaguely felt that he had been forgetting something important recently.
In the middle of the night, in the quiet Gryffindor common room,
the Fat Lady was humming a tune and leisurely fixing her hair in front of the painting's mirror.
At that moment, a steady and magnetic male voice rang out.
"Could you please open the door and let me in?"
"Password!" The Fat Lady, who hadn't heard clearly, stopped what she was doing and prepared to see which young wizard was causing trouble by wandering around so late at night.
But when she turned around and saw the person, her beady eyes widened, and her body trembled as she was about to shout out loud.
However, Sirius Black was faster. He quickly raised his hand, and a bolt of white light struck the painting. The Fat Lady's terrified expression vanished, and she suddenly looked very confused.
After a moment of hesitation, the Fat Lady returned to normal. Under the influence of the Confundus Charm, the person in front of her had transformed into a young wizard.
"How are you still wandering around at this hour? You won't get in without the password!" The Fat Lady put her hands on her hips and frowned, scolding him.
"Hmm, let me see. Today's password is 'Light of the Fae'!" Sirius Black pulled out a piece of paper from his robes, glanced at it, and found the corresponding entry, then responded.
"Alright! Come in! Remember to get some rest", the Fat Lady nodded, and the door to the Gryffindor dormitory opened slightly.
"Of course, madam! You too", Sirius Black nodded slightly and walked in, as if he were on a casual visit.
However, once inside the dormitory, Sirius Black quickened his pace. Even though he had entered through a secret passage, he couldn't completely hide his presence. He might have been seen by some of the portraits on the way.
This daring infiltration was entirely because he couldn't wait any longer!
He had been wandering around the outskirts of Hogwarts for a whole month, waiting for Ivan to come and find him, but Ivan never showed up. So, Sirius Black was worried that Ivan might have encountered some difficulties or simply forgotten about the matter.
Sirius Black felt it was necessary to give him a reminder!
Fortunately, a few days ago, he had encountered an interesting ginger cat while scouting the area, who was willing to keep watch for him.
Recently, this cat had even brought him a piece of paper with the Gryffindor common room's passwords for the entire week, which made his mission today much easier.
Although he could use the Confundus Charm to trick the Fat Lady, he still had to provide the correct password to open the door to the common room!
"Is this it?" Sirius Black stealthily wandered around and finally found the dormitory where Ivan was staying.
"Alohomora!" Sirius Black pointed his wand at the door and whispered.
With a soft creak, the door opened smoothly. Sirius Black entered, his dark gray eyes scanning the room. He was initially looking for Ivan's bed, but his gaze eventually settled on Ron's bed!
Sirius Black's face gradually twisted. Even in the dim light, he immediately saw the large gray rat curled up and sleeping soundly at the head of the bed.
It was none other than the rat he had been thinking about day and night, the one he wished to torture and tear apart: Peter Pettigrew!
