Chapter 379: Jian Wuxia
Chapter 379: Jian Wuxia
"That's good, or I would feel bad about it." Lu Chen chuckled.
"I am Lu Xuan, but I don't know how I should address my senior?"
"Li Zhen. You can just call me Li Shixiong." The gentle-natured young man cupped his fists and changed the subject. "I've heard of you, Lu Shidi, your talent in spirit herbs far surpasses that of your peers in the sect. This time, as we venture into the blessed land, we will rely on your gift."
"Li Shixiong is too kind. I'm just a logistician, providing meager support to our charging Shishu and fellow seniors." Lu Chen humbly replied.
Through their conversation, Lu Chen learned that the aloof young woman was Jian Wuxia, one of the seventeen true disciples of the Celestial Sword Sect. She possessed an innate sword body, and her talent in the sword path could be described as terrifying.
With the introduction of the gentle-natured young man, Lu Chen had a simple introduction to the other two.
After a while, a charming woman at the mid-foundation establishment stage arrived.
"Now that everyone is here, we shall depart. The blessed land is located in the void, and the journey is long and arduous. Please calm your minds and spiritual powers, as I will use a teleportation formation and Shishu's treasure to take us there." Jian Wuxia instructed, her fingers flicking out as she spoke. Several sword auras shot into the ground, and countless spirit patterns lit up, enveloping Lu Chen and the others within a massive formation.
Dozens of spirit stones, radiating spiritual light, scattered and merged into the formation.
"Judging from the size and spiritual concentration of these spirit stones, they must be the rare medium-grade ones. To activate this teleportation formation just once requires dozens of them..." Lu Chen mused to himself, impressed by the sect's extravagance.
He held his breath, suppressing his spiritual power and calming his mind, as a pillar of spiritual light lifted him into the sky.
Once they entered the void, Jian Wuxia produced a hollow wooden sword. The sword's body was entwined with shadows of true dragons and divine phoenixes. Under her spiritual connection, the shadows suddenly enlarged, seemingly turning from illusions into reality, carrying Lu Chen and the others into a dim space.
After an indeterminate amount of time in that hazy state, a crisp voice rang in Lu Chen's ear. "We've arrived." His feet touched down on solid ground, and he opened his eyes.
What greeted his eyes was a strange and vast world. The ground beneath him was a dark red soil, as if countless dried blood and flesh had piled up to form it. The air was filled with a peculiar scent, a mixture of meat fragrance and putrid odor, inducing a sense of discomfort.
As far as the eye could see, the land was desolate, with only a few odd-looking spirit herbs scattered about.
"This blessed land was jointly opened by our three sects: the Celestial Sword Sect, the Beast Tamer's Sect, and the Lingxiao Sect. Their strengths are comparable to ours."
"Opening a new blessed land is a long-term process, and we may encounter many formations and restrictions, or demonic beasts and evil creatures. Adding to that, there are those peculiar spirit herbs in this blessed land. Considering all these factors, the three sects have established a camp in the rear as a logistics base and resting place."
Aside from Lu Chen, the other four had been to this blessed land before, so they adapted more quickly. The five of them rode upon sword lights, speeding through the low skies.
After traveling over a hundred miles, they stopped in front of a camp.
"Rest here for half a day. Lu Shidi, stay at the camp, while the rest of us head to the front lines." Jian Wuxia, the aloof female cultivator, instructed before entering a simple stone house.
In the camp, the three sects maintained clear boundaries. Lu Chen's spiritual sense briefly swept the area, revealing varying numbers of cultivators in the other two sects' sections.
"Lu Shidi, you will be staying here for an extended period, so take your time to adapt."
Lu Chen returned to the house and released the Cloud-Treading Lynx and the Demon Ghost Vine from the spirit beast plaque.
"See if there's anything sinister lurking nearby."
The Cloud-Treading Lynx, with its emerald green eyes, glanced at Lu Chen, circled the walls, and then seemed to peer beyond them into the distance with its eyes.
"Roar..."
It let out a low growl, a hint of reluctance in its tone, and its ears drooped as it lazily lay on the ground.
Only then did Lu Chen feel relieved. Just as he was about to start meditating, he suddenly noticed gray slime all over the floor.
Following the trail of slime, he saw the Demon Ghost Vine writhing wildly on the ground, its vines secreting copious amounts of gray slime as if it had detected something irresistibly delicious.
"The Demon Ghost Vine feeds on spirit seeds, spirit herbs, and even demon beast meat. These mutated spirit herbs, influenced by the unknown power of blood and flesh, are right up its alley."
Lu Chen speculated, communicating with the Demon Ghost Vine through his spiritual sense, urging it to restrain itself.
Immediately afterward, he willed it, and a grayish-white eye popped out of the Gluttonous Worm Pouch, silently drilling into the void.
It was one of the fifth-grade Void Nightmare Eyes that had bloomed from the light groups after the Hundred-Eyed Weirdwood matured.
After tempering it for so long, Lu Chen had become increasingly adept at controlling it. He could monitor the surrounding area through the Void Nightmare Eye's vision.
A slender fissure appeared in his left palm, and a tiny eye emerged from it, revealing everything that the Void Nightmare Eye outside was seeing.
After confirming that there were no abnormalities around through the Cloud-Treading Lynx and the Void Nightmare Eye, Lu Chen finally relaxed completely. Instead of meticulously cultivating the spirit herbs, he sat cross-legged on the bed and started cultivating his martial arts.
"I'm cultivating, yet it feels like I'm not..."
Lu Chen opened his eyes and couldn't help but mock himself.
Half a day passed, and there was no change in the spiritual power within his body, giving him a clearer understanding of his own aptitude.
Suddenly, he seemed to sense something, and the eye in his palm vanished as the Void Nightmare Eye outside instantly retreated into the void.
A handsome young man appeared in the sky above the Celestial Sword Sect's camp. Countless sword qi phantoms swirled around his body, constantly changing and transforming into various strange insects and beasts.
"A Golden Core True cultivator!"
In the instant Lu Chen saw the young man, he understood, and his heart skipped a beat as he rushed out of the stone house as fast as he could.
"Ancient Shishu!"
"Ancient Shishu!"
Li Zhen and the others also rushed out of their houses almost simultaneously, greeting the newcomer respectfully.
The visitor was none other than Gu Jiankong, one of the Golden Core cultivators of the Celestial Sword Sect, whom Lu Chen had met briefly when resolving the Green Mystical Deer's obsession.
"Wuxia, did you bring everything I asked for?"
The handsome young man nodded to the group and gently floated down, addressing the cold female cultivator.
"Yes, Shishu. I've brought everything," Jian Wuxia replied with a respectful nod, handing over a black cloth bag adorned with intricate spirit patterns.
"Good. With these targeted pills, talismans, and such, we can hold out for a long time," Gu Jiankong said with satisfaction, nodding his approval and turning to Lu Chen.
"Lu Shidi, it's been a while. I didn't expect you to have already broken through to the mid-Foundation Establishment stage."
There was a hint of surprise in his tone.
