Chapter 377: The Ultimate Formation
Chapter 377: The Ultimate Formation
...And thus, with supreme divine sense, one can attain the Great Dao.
Mo Hua was slightly dazed. He hadn't expected Master Zhuang to have such high expectations and far-reaching plans for him. He had thought that achieving the Foundation Establishment would be enough to satisfy his master, and he hadn't considered what would come after.
Mo Hua nodded, his expression serious. "Master, I'll remember everything you said."
His thoughts gradually became clearer. He needed to continue studying profound formations, temper his divine sense to become even stronger, strive to become a higher-ranked formation master, and cultivate even more profound realms, seeking a longer path to immortality.
A hint of satisfaction appeared in Master Zhuang's eyes.
After a moment's thought, Mo Hua asked, "Master, where can I learn the ultimate formations?"
Master Zhuang paused, a hint of apology in his eyes. "I used to have some inheritance of ultimate formations, but due to unforeseen circumstances, most of them were lost. If you want to learn the ultimate formations, you'll have to learn to find them yourself."
Mo Hua was taken aback, and he humbly asked, "How do I find them...?"
Master Zhuang replied, "The vast majority of formation inheritances in this world are monopolized by the Dao Court, aristocratic families, and sects, and the same is true for ultimate formations."
"It's basically impossible for you to learn from them, and even if you could, the cost would be enormous."
"So, if you want to learn ultimate formations, you can only seek out those secret and unparalleled formations that have been lost in the corners of the Nine Provinces, unknown to the world."
Mo Hua asked curiously, "If they are ultimate formations, they must be extremely valuable. If they are so valuable, how can they be unknown?"
"Because ordinary people don't understand formations and can't decipher formation runes," Master Zhuang explained. "Even formation masters, without the relevant inheritance, would not be able to fathom the intricacies of ultimate formations."
Mo Hua understood, and his curiosity grew. "Then, won't the Dao Court, aristocratic families, and sects try to collect these ultimate formations?"
"They will," Master Zhuang nodded. "But the world is vast, and formations are profound. No matter how much they collect, there will always be some that are overlooked."
"Moreover, some ultimate formations are so exquisite and extraordinary that they cannot be recognized by ordinary cultivators with mortal eyes."
"Even formation masters from the Dao Court or with aristocratic family and sect inheritances are mostly bookworms who follow the scriptures blindly. They cannot fathom or understand things that transcend their level of understanding."
Master Zhuang's expression held a hint of disdain.
Mo Hua looked at him with admiration and asked secretly, "Master, what rank are you?"
Master Zhuang turned his head and saw the sparkling curiosity in Mo Hua's eyes. He couldn't help but touch Mo Hua's forehead gently and said with a gentle tone, "Don't ask about what you shouldn't."
"Oh." Mo Hua covered his forehead and thought for a moment before asking, "Then, what are we going to do next? Are we going to look for ultimate formations?"
"Something like that," Master Zhuang's eyes held a complex emotion as he replied, "I'm going to visit a sect and meet some old acquaintances. I'll have you learn their formations, and along the way, we'll also look for some ultimate formations."
A sect? Old acquaintances? Formations?
Mo Hua was stunned. "Master, which sect are we talking about?"
Master Zhuang did not answer directly, only saying, "You'll know when the time comes."
Mo Hua was still curious and asked, "Then, what kind of formations are we going to learn?"
Master Zhuang's expression froze, and a hint of melancholy appeared on his face as he slowly replied, "It's a formation that even I couldn't learn back then..."
Mo Hua was shocked. "Master, you didn't learn it?"
Master Zhuang smiled faintly and said, "I'm just a mortal man, not an immortal. Naturally, there are things that I cannot learn."
Mo Hua asked uncertainly, "If Master couldn't learn it, can I?"
Master Zhuang looked at Mo Hua with gentle eyes. "You should be fine."
Mo Hua's expression brightened, but he still had some worries. "If Master couldn't learn it, can I really master it?"
What if he couldn't learn it? Wouldn't he disappoint Master and lose face for him...?
Master Zhuang understood Mo Hua's thoughts and smiled gently as he said, "I didn't learn it back then, and I endured their contempt. This time, I'm bringing you there to take revenge for me."
"How dare they look down on my master?" Mo Hua's face hardened, and his eyes lit up with determination.
Patting his chest, he assured, "Master, rest assured, I will definitely master the array and slap them in the face, then anger them to death!"
Zhuang Xian was slightly stunned before he chuckled, "Alright, anger them to death..."
...
After a few more words of instruction and guidance on the intricacies of the array, Zhuang Xian yawned, looking a bit weary.
Seeing this, Mo Hua stood up to bid farewell and gently closed the door behind him.
As Mo Hua walked down the corridor, his mind was filled with questions.
He hadn't known why Master Zhuang had left Tongxian City and embarked on his journey, but now it seemed that it might be for him to learn the array.
A warmth spread through Mo Hua's heart, followed by a hint of concern.
Learning the array was true, but it probably wasn't that simple...
He recalled Master Zhuang's warning about the bizarre Taoist whom he shouldn't mention, think about, or better yet, forget.
There was also Feng Yi, who had come back from the dead, his face layered with overlapping faces, one of which resembled a Taoist.
Mo Hua vaguely recalled the Taoist's voice when he had faced Feng Yi's large, hollow eyes:
"Your aura..."
"Bold..."
"Very familiar..."
"Who are you?"
...
These words, spoken simultaneously by different people with distinct voices, created a cacophony of confusion.
But when strung together, they formed a coherent question: "Your aura... very familiar... who are you?"
Mo Hua had never met the Taoist, so why did his aura seem familiar to him? After pondering, he concluded that it must be related to Master Zhuang.
As his disciple, Mo Hua interacted with Master Zhuang frequently and had been taught the array by him, even using the Five Elements Grand Array that Master Zhuang had given him. Naturally, he would bear his master's aura.
And the Taoist had found that aura "very familiar..."
In other words, he was familiar with Master Zhuang.
There seemed to be a mysterious connection between the eccentric Taoist and Master Zhuang, and it certainly wasn't a positive one.
The Taoist was definitely not a benevolent figure, and his abilities were enigmatic and unpredictable. Mo Hua had no idea about his cultivation level, techniques, or the magic he employed; with his limited experience in cultivation, it was all beyond his comprehension.
He felt worried for Master Zhuang.
With his weak vital energy and vague spiritual sense, if he had a grudge with the Taoist and was being pursued, he would be in grave danger...
And if such a situation arose, Mo Hua wasn't sure he had the means to deal with the enigmatic Taoist...
It wasn't feasible to dismantle another grand array, was it?
The crucial issue was that even if he wanted to, he didn't have an array to undo it.
Deep in thought, Mo Hua walked along the corridor of the inn when he looked up and saw a charming young girl walking towards him.
Her face seemed unfamiliar, yet her aura felt familiar.
As they passed each other, Mo Hua paused and turned, asking tentatively, "Zi Xi?"
The young girl turned around and held up her slender, white little finger, correcting him, "Call me Senior Sister."
Mo Hua was taken aback, then slowly said, "Little Senior Sister..."
Bai Zi Xi nodded in satisfaction.
"How did you end up like this?" Mo Hua asked.
"I used an illusion technique to change my appearance to avoid trouble," Bai Zi Xi replied.
"Oh." Mo Hua nodded.
Bai Zi Xi's original appearance was exceptionally striking, drawing attention wherever she went and easily causing trouble.
Her current look was still pleasant, but it was only "generally" attractive, not the kind that defied imagination.
"How did you know it was me?" Bai Zi Xi asked, curious.
"I guessed..." Mo Hua answered honestly.
Bai Zi Xi gave him a skeptical look but didn't say anything.
However, she still wondered how Mo Hua had recognized her despite her drastically altered appearance.
