Chapter 377: Random Ruins!
Chapter 377: Random Ruins!
What could have prompted a future Sinnoh Elite Four member to call a Johto resident like himself for help? Jinghe had his doubts.
But when Daye sounded genuinely distressed over the phone, he seemed to be in a real predicament. After careful consideration, Jinghe decided to make the trip.
Just in case there was a real danger.
However, traveling from Johto to Sinnoh was no easy feat.
Given the urgency, he called Dawu, and soon enough, a private plane from Devan Company was parked behind his house.
Since Dawu was busy with his stone excavation endeavor and couldn't make it, Jinghe set off alone.
Once aboard the plane, Jinghe called Sharon.
"Hmm, Daye?" Sharon asked, trying to recall. She remembered receiving a strange call but had hung up, assuming it was Daye challenging her again.
"Where are you?" Sharon inquired.
"I'll send you the location," Jinghe replied, forwarding the coordinates Daye had sent him.
"Random Town? Random Ruins?" Sharon recognized the place immediately.
It was Random Town in Sinnoh, home to the ancient ruins known as Random Ruins, where people once worshipped Dialga and Palkia. Such sacrificial ruins were not uncommon in the Sinnoh Region.
Jinghe also recalled something, "Random Ruins, weren't they the first ruins in Sinnoh to have Unown Totems?"
"Yes," Sharon confirmed.
Intrigued by the mention of ruins, Sharon agreed to meet Jinghe in Random Town.
Jinghe felt that with Sharon's help, Daye should be fine. But considering Daye might be deeply entangled with the Unown Totems, it could take time to rescue him, and an extra hand might be useful.
He then called Wusong to ask for information about the Random Ruins.
"Jinghe?" Wusong was surprised by the call.
"Did Daye call you?" Jinghe asked.
"Daye? Who's that? I don't know him," Wusong replied calmly.
Poor Daye.
"Cough, Wusong, could you look into the Random Ruins for me?"
"Is it urgent?"
"A bit."
"Okay, I understand."
A Liu's phone was out of service, probably because he was in some remote area catching Bug-type Pokemon.
As for Denji, he didn't usually answer calls from unknown numbers.
No wonder Daye had to call several people before finally reaching Jinghe, and it seemed like he had tried for a long time.
Daye's usual behavior often made people ignore his calls.
Jinghe himself had almost hung up initially.
Additionally, few believed that Daye, with his strength, could be in real danger.
If Daye's predicament was confirmed, these people wouldn't hesitate to lend a helping hand.
"Tsk," Jinghe sighed, relaxing in the private plane's massage chair and sipping his coffee.
"Poor guy," he thought.
Sinnoh, Random Ruins.
The interior of the Random Ruins resembled a pyramid, constructed from tightly fitted massive bricks, with intricate passageways that could easily confuse those unfamiliar with the layout.
The ruins were also filled with complex mechanisms like rolling boulders, hidden stone doors, and spike traps.
The presence of wild Pokemon that had made the ruins their home further increased the danger.
Deep within the ruins, in a secluded spot, Daye, exhausted, stood with his Monferno, either pacing or running in place.
Surrounding them were countless Unown Totems of various shapes, emitting a peculiar energy that enveloped Daye and his Monferno, immersing them in an endless illusion.
In their vision, they found themselves in an intricate area filled with complex staircases leading up and down. No matter how they ran, they couldn't escape.
Whenever they stopped, a Pokemon would suddenly appear—sometimes an Electabuzz, a Sharpedo, or even Gramps. All sorts of Pokemon could appear.
Each attack from these Pokemon felt incredibly real, making it impossible for Daye and his Monferno to discern reality from illusion.
They had been trapped in this place for three days and nights, unable to leave or even sleep.
"Jinghe, please come quickly!" Daye pleaded after making several calls, finally receiving a response from the only person willing to come to his aid.
A friend in need is a friend indeed! Daye couldn't ask for more. He thought to himself:
'From now on, whatever is precious to me, Jinghe, is precious to you!
My wallet is yours, Jinghe!
My moves are yours, Jinghe!
And as for my wife, she's your...'
Daye's thoughts trailed off as he realized he didn't have a wife to offer.
January 7th.
The private jet's speed far surpassed that of a commercial flight, and by two in the afternoon, Jinghe had already arrived in Random Town.
As soon as he disembarked, he saw Sharon waiting for him in the town.
Random Town was a small, cozy place, exuding a leisurely and comfortable atmosphere.
It was a town with a slow pace of life, primarily centered around ranching, so there were many farmers, Miltanks, and Tauros in the town.
Aside from the ranches and the Moo Moo Milk, the town's Pokemon Nursery was also quite famous, ranking among the best in the Sinnoh region.
Additionally, to the south of Random Town, there was the Lost Tower, a place similar to the Hoenn's Sootopolis City and Unova's Celestial Tower, serving as the final resting place for many Pokemon.
"Is Dawu really trapped in the Random Ruins?"
Upon seeing Jinghe, Sharon asked again, as if seeking confirmation.
Although Dawu had never won against her since their first battle, Sharon still acknowledged his strength.
At the very least, he had surpassed the level of an ordinary Gym Leader by a wide margin.
"That's what he said, and the location matches here," Jinghe explained, spreading his hands.
"Then let's be cautious."
The fact that Dawu was trapped meant that they might also face the same fate, so being cautious was not a bad idea.
"Mhm."
The two walked along a leafy path, and before long, they reached the palace-like Random Ruins.
"Is this the Random Ruins?"
At the entrance to the ruins, there was a long staircase and sculptures of Dialga and Palkia standing on either side.
Below the sculptures, there was an inscription in ancient text.
Jinghe remembered, "All life encounters other life, giving birth to new things?" he asked tentatively.
This was a famous quote that Sharon often repeated.
Sharon smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "This saying originates from a Sinnoh legend, and you can find it in the ruins of many places in the Sinnoh region."
She looked up at the ruins and continued, "This is my first time here, too. My grandmother had conducted research on it, and what you see now is mostly the result of recent renovations."
"I was wondering how Wusong managed to find the architectural plans for the Random Ruins."
Jinghe took out his phone, which displayed the information Wusong had found.
"Rotom, 3D presentation."
"Received, Rotom!"
The Rotom Pokedex received the information from Jinghe's phone, and after scanning and integrating it, it presented the entire Random Ruins in a virtual 3D format before the two of them.
Two red dots represented their current location.
"There are no corresponding plans for some areas, so I can't present them, Rotom!"
Rotom reported.
"Rotom is so amazing and convenient," Sharon exclaimed upon seeing this.
Such a 3D map was a blessing for those exploring the ruins.
Sharon even felt like catching a Rotom herself.
"It's...it's okay, Rotom~o(〃’▽’〃)o"
"Rotom is also great at doing housework," Jinghe added, promoting its abilities.
"Rotom?"
The two entered the ruins.
The image on the phone moved accordingly.
Considering that Dawu was already in trouble, Sharon summoned Lucario.
Jinghe, however, did not summon a Pokemon.
After all, Gramps had been lurking in his shadow, and in the event of any danger or trouble, Gramps would appear immediately.
This was the convenience brought by Pokemon like Gramps, who could inhabit shadows.
"Luka!"
Lucario's face was cold and stoic, and upon noticing Jinghe, he nodded slightly in greeting.
The interior of the ruins was pitch-black, and as the passage extended underground, the light grew dimmer.
"Rotom, flash."
"Understood, Rotom!"
Buzz—
With the flickering of electric arcs, Rotom emitted a soft white light, instantly illuminating the passage around the two.
Flap, flap—
Perhaps due to the sudden appearance of light or the noise they made, Supersonic and Megabats viciously attacked them.
"Luka!"
Lucario's eyebrows furrowed, and just as he was about to take action, he heard—
"Gahaha! Gahaha!"
Here I come! Let me handle this!
Gramps, with a sinister smile, crawled out of Jinghe's shadow.
He was all too familiar with Supersonic and Megabats! Gramps' two plump hands glowed with a bluish lightning, and he threw them like explosive bombs.
Boom!!
Amidst the clattering sounds, the Supersonic and Megabats rained down like hailstones.
Gramps' sinister laughter grew louder.
Sharon frowned and said sternly, "The wild Pokemon here are so aggressive."
After a while, the two reached the depths of the Random Ruins.
Along the way, they encountered several wild Pokemon attacks, but with Gramps and Lucario, they managed to move forward without much hindrance.
Soon, they saw Dawu running frantically in place.
