Chapter 376: The Laboratory
Chapter 376: The Laboratory
"My friend is here with me."
As the two vampires approached, a pungent and sharp scent filled the air.
To be honest, the smell wasn't pleasant, but it fit the atmosphere perfectly, stimulating the secretion of hormones.
"Why are you here alone now?"
The voluptuous female vampire sidled up to Karl, resting her pert buttocks on his lap and toying with his collar, she smirked, "Uncle."
"Want to have some fun?"
"You've already called me 'uncle,' it doesn't seem appropriate to have fun together." Karl gently shook his head.
"Hehe, you're so funny, uncle." The two women giggled.
"But we like mature men like you, and we sisters can play together!"
As they spoke, the two women blinked in unison, exuding charm.
"Never mind."
Karl thought for a moment and shook his head again.
"My friend is here."
"Hmph!"
Monica, who had seen this scene through the crowd, let out a cold huff and shot an icy glance at the two women, "Mr. Karl is my invited friend. Next time, keep your eyes open and don't touch things you shouldn't."
The two women, who had initially been nonchalant, turned pale upon hearing her voice and quickly stood up, trembling as they bowed.
"Miss Monica!"
"We didn't know..."
"Get out!" Monica's voice turned somber.
"Don't let me see you again."
"Yes, yes."
Even under the dim lights of the nightclub, one could still make out the paleness of the two women's faces. Hearing Monica's words, they hurriedly left.
"So impressive!"
Karl clapped in admiration, "Miss Monica, you're quite famous here?"
"Of course!"
Monica flicked her long hair, "This place is also part of the Remmure Family's business."
Karl nodded slowly.
Blaze, despite his young age, was an expert in organic chemistry and held multiple patents for synthetic molecules.
the world around him.
Even without the backing of his family, he could easily secure substantial investments if he desired.
"This way!"
He gestured with an outstretched hand while nodding to students and colleagues passing by, a constant smile on his face.
Most of the female students greeted him with flushed faces and enthusiasm.
Following behind, Karl spoke up, "Looks like Blaze is quite popular in school!"
"Of course."
Blaze held his head high, "Back in school, I was the star of the fraternity, and I still am."
"Especially popular with the ladies, which is my dilemma."
He shook his head and sighed, showing no sign of distress but rather, a face full of pride.
It must be said that Blaze had a stunningly beautiful appearance—golden hair, emerald eyes, and a well-defined face, coupled with his muscular build, it was no wonder he was favored by women. When the nightclub closed the night before, he carried the scent of at least four women.
"Aren't you pursuing Monica?"
Karl asked curiously.
"She doesn't mind."
"..." Blaze's expression froze slightly.
"I'd rather she did."
Blaze and Monica had been classmates since elementary school and even maintained a romantic relationship for a period during university, but for reasons unknown, Monica dumped him after graduation.
Their current relationship was more than friends but less than lovers, and for this, Blaze felt conflicted.
"We're here."
Blaze opened the door and gestured, "This is your private laboratory."
"Huh?" Karl was taken aback, "A private laboratory? The Remmure Family is wealthy and has sponsored much to the College of Engineering, but private laboratories are usually reserved for renowned researchers or highly promising research projects."
Karl,
an obscure biologist, had just arrived, and yet he was already assigned a private laboratory.
He couldn't help but feel puzzled.
"You're lucky."
Blaze shrugged.
"You're lucky."
Blaze shrugged,
"Two months ago, Professor Jim, who was in charge of this laboratory, passed away unexpectedly, and his research happened to align with yours."
"Oh!"
Karl stroked his chin, "Should I feel sorry for Professor Jim's accident or be thankful for my own good luck?"
"Haha..." Blaze laughed heartily, "You can choose not to say anything."
"Slap!"
He clapped his hands lightly and called out to the busy figures in the laboratory, "Barrow, come over here."
"Professor Blaze," Barrow was a young man under twenty years old, with a slender build and thick glasses, giving off an honest and simple vibe.
"Hmm."

Blaze gestured with his hand, "This is Professor Karl, who will be in charge of this laboratory's projects and will be your future mentor."
"Professor Karl!"
"Hello!"
The two shook hands lightly.
"If you don't mind..." Karl shrugged:
"Could you introduce Professor Jim's research project?"
"Sure."
Barrow nodded:
"Professor Jim is a genius in the field of genetic scripting, and I chose my current major after reading his research paper."
"Unfortunately..."
"We are mainly conducting research on genetic modification and have started attempting to alter the genetic chain..."
He led the two into the laboratory, pointing out the white mice, spiders, and other organisms used for experiments.
"This white mouse was originally a black mouse, and the spider's silk has been modified to be even more resilient..."
As he introduced the research project, Barrow, who had been listless and timid, seemed to transform into a different person, becoming animated and talkative.
"How is that possible?"
"Gene editing."
"Editing?"
"Yes!" Barrow's eyes lit up:
"Professor Jim discovered that all spiders' genes have consistency, and the differences in species are due to dominant genes. If you knock out certain genes, it can lead to the appearance of hidden genes, which in turn alters the spider's phenotype."
"Can it be controlled intentionally?"
"No..."
Karl seemed deep in thought.
No wonder Monica was so interested in my research theory; the answer lies here.
No wonder...
I was given Professor Jim's independent laboratory.
"My research has some similarities with Professor Jim's; we both influence receptors through genetic modification."
Approaching the computer and browsing through the public files, Karl spoke up, "However, unlike Professor Jim's modification of organisms, my focus is on adjusting the hormone levels in biological bodies to prevent diseases."
"Slap!"
Blaze clapped:
"This research direction is excellent. If it can help people overcome cancer, the commercial benefits will be astonishing."
"No wonder Monica is willing to use her family's influence for you."
"Cancer is a bit far-fetched," Karl shook his head, "Let's start with certain congenital diseases, and we haven't even conducted animal experiments yet."
"Hmm..."
He paused for a moment, then looked at the files on the computer and spoke, "Barrow."
"Have you ever tried merging genes of different forms into a single organism?"
"We had that idea." Barrow nodded:
"Professor Jim wanted to create an all-powerful spider, but this experiment ultimately failed."
A hint of bewilderment flashed in Karl's eyes, and he shook his head before continuing to scroll down, his expression becoming grave.
Failure?
Not necessarily!
The records here were altered after the incident, and the experimental subjects seemed rather special.
Extraordinary organism?
Was Professor Jim's death truly an accident?
"Can I take a look at the confidential files?"
"This..." Barrow hesitated for a moment:
"After Professor Jim's accident, Bito Corporation sealed some of the research results. I don't have the permission to access them."
"But as far as I know, there's nothing much to see, just some experimental data, and they are failed data."
"Is that so?" Karl remained noncommittal.
