Chapter 376: Guild Reconstruction Completed!
Chapter 376: Guild Reconstruction Completed!
The fireworks had long since burned out, leaving a faint scent of gunpowder in the air.
The night sky held only a small, inconspicuous crescent moon, and the distant lights couldn't reach this dim corner.
Two people huddled together, neither speaking a word. After an unknown amount of time, Rod suddenly exhaled.
Mila's movements paused, and she buried her flushed face in Rod's embrace.
Her mind was in disarray, and her heart was pounding fiercely.
Rod buried his face in her long hair, and after a while, he loosened his hold on her.
"I..."
He wanted to say, 'I'm going to take a shower,' but before he could finish, Mila jumped up like a startled little rabbit.
"Don't you dare chase after me!" She tugged at her tank top and nimbly jumped down from the rooftop, her hair in disarray.
It was impossible not to chase her, but he couldn't do it so directly.
Rod went downstairs and slipped into the bathhouse.
Warm water sprayed from the showerhead, cascading over his body, calming Rod's excited emotions slightly.
He thought to himself, helping with such matters was normal... right?
But the way it happened was a bit strange.
He used to think it was all a joke, but when faced with the reality, it was hard to refuse.
The most important thing was how Mira felt about it.
Rod adjusted the shower to a cooler temperature and tried to calm himself further.
Under the dim streetlights of the night, Mira ran quite a distance.
She only stopped when she reached near her home, clutching her chest and panting.
She couldn't just go back like this.
Mira tidied herself up, loosening her hair and retying her knee-high socks.
When her fingertips touched the white, absolute area, Mira suddenly remembered the peculiar sensation from earlier.
The blush that had faded slightly returned, and she felt ashamed.
She wanted to cover her face, what had she done just now?
...
Rod turned on the fan at home, summoned Worm, and brought out a piece of cake for it.
Worm happily pounced, but it was in vain, and it looked at its master with innocent eyes.
"This is Mira's birthday cake," Rod said, holding the plate, "Come on, say happy birthday to Mira."
"Huru?" Worm looked at him with a pleading expression, as if asking if he could speak.
"Never mind, the thought counts," Rod put down the plate and patted Worm's head, "Just stay here, if she's angry later, I'll summon you over."
"Huru~~" Worm indicated that as long as there was good food, everything was negotiable.
Rod gathered his courage and went to Mira's house.
From downstairs, he could see that Mira's room light was still on, clearly she hadn't slept yet.
Rod knocked on the door.
No one answered.
"It's me, open the door," Rod waved at the window.
"Sister said, if you come, don't open the door," Elfman said, curiously, "Did you two fight?"
Rod shook his head: "No... it's a bit complicated, how did she explain it to you?"
"She didn't say anything, just seemed a bit strange when she came back." Elfman thought for a moment,
"Like angry but not quite."
Rod waved his hand: "It's fine, I'll wait here."
(End)
Rod felt relieved.
If it were the old Elfman, he might have already started a fight with him. Now, not only did he provide information, but he even opened the window for him.
"No, I won't leave through this window," Rod said, raising his head and waving at him. "You rest first, so you don't get dragged into this."
Elfman closed the window, clearly worried about being implicated. If he hadn't quarreled with his sister, he wouldn't have said that, right? Rod couldn't care less about their problems.
He took two steps back, jumped up, and lightly kicked the wall, grabbing onto the window ledge of Mira's room with both hands.
Is it really not good to climb through windows?
Rod hesitated for half a second, then decided that if asked, he would say he learned it from Natsu.
He lightly used his arms to pull his head through the window.
However, a pillow flew at him with a whistling sound and smacked right into his face.
The immense force actually sent him flying.
Does a normal pillow have this kind of power?
Rod felt a sharp pain on his face as he fell, but this was child's play to him.
He hugged the pillow and landed steadily, then thought for a moment and lay down, covering his face with the pillow, remaining completely silent and still.
Mira waited for a while but didn't get the expected reaction.
She poked her head out to look and then hurriedly went down, but as soon as she was out of the window, she realized something was wrong.
Cheater.
Mira walked over angrily, snatched the pillow away, and saw a distorted face with a crooked mouth and eyes.
She smacked Rod's face with the pillow again, not in a good mood. "I told you not to follow me."
Rod was afraid that if he didn't come today, he might never be able to come again.
He dusted himself off and stood up. "Actually, Worm didn't get enough of your birthday cake, so I came to ask if there's any left."
"There isn't!"
Who would believe his nonsense? Mira turned around and went back inside, tossing out a line before the door: "Go back to rest, and come over tomorrow."
Rod slept soundly that night and went to freeload the next day with full energy.
However, today it was Elfman cooking again, and Mira came downstairs with a small yawn, seeming a bit lethargic.
Rod was about to ask, but Mira gave him a warning look, probably meaning that if he mentioned that incident, he'd be in trouble.
If you don't want to mention it, fine, it'll be better when things are more relaxed.
Rod thought he needed to save money quickly and propose as soon as possible.
To achieve this goal, the guild needed to be completed as soon as possible.
Thus, there was one more workaholic at the construction site.
Rod wasn't the only one working hard. The closer the project was to completion, the more enthusiastic everyone was.
In the final stages, many people didn't even take missions, coming to the guild to help every day.
By the end of the month, the new headquarters of Fairy Tail was finally completed.
"Ding~~~"
The large bell at the top of the guild rang out for the first time, and Makalov, ringing the bell, shouted, "Fairy Tail is finished!"
The Fairy Tail members downstairs cheered, "Oh!!!"
Rod and Mira stood among the crowd, waving their hands excitedly and shouting, "Fairy Tail!"
"Finished!"
Rod's first home in this world, the place most important to him, was finally rebuilt.
Though the interior wasn't decorated yet and some scaffolding was still up, the new guild was already enough to make people excited.
Many nearby residents, hearing the bell, came to visit.
Makalov waved his hand. "Let's have a party! Everyone, come on!"
"Oh!!!"
