Chapter 374: Sybrian Feels Like She's Having a Stroke
Chapter 374: Sybrian Feels Like She's Having a Stroke
As if sensing the audience's thoughts, the host, Laeola, interjected with a raised eyebrow and a hint of amusement: "You know, the way you phrase that, it sounds quite presidential. I've heard people at Helrom Broadcasting discussing whether you'll be running for president next year..."
"Are you planning to run for president?" She asked with a hint of curiosity.
Her sudden question hung in the air, causing the audience to hold their breath. Even Cat Boss, who was pretending to be an ordinary cat in Lanchi's arms, was startled and nearly jumped up! If Lanchi were to become the president of the Protoss Empire, Cat Boss would never dare to face Hubert again in this lifetime!
Lanchi's roles as a principal, a saint, and a governor had already left Cat Boss numb. But becoming the president, the leader of the empire, was something Cat Boss couldn't accept!
Facing this question, which was half-joking and half-serious, Lanchi paused for a moment, a hint of contemplation flashing in his emerald eyes.
"Probably not," he replied firmly, yet with a hint of casual resignation. "But I'm tired of seeing Protoss being taken advantage of."
"Why not consider running?" Laeola probed further.
"I just don't have the intention to run for president. I love what I'm doing now, I truly do," Lanchi explained.
"Maybe if you had a little more ambition... there wouldn't be any woman in this world who could keep up with you, would there? You still want to leave some time and space in your life for those around you, don't you?" Laeola's words elicited laughter from the audience.
A faint smile appeared on Lanchi's face as well, acknowledging the truth in her words.
The laughter was short-lived, however, fleeting like gentle waves lapping against the shore, leaving no trace except a faint echo.
With a slight nod and a smile, Lanchi replied, "I may not seek further public office, but I don't completely rule out the possibility. If I feel that our country is heading in the wrong direction, I might consider running for office."
Each of his responses now elicited a subtle reaction from the audience. Some nodded, their eyes shining with enthusiasm as they recalled the deeper meanings behind Rocky McCarthy's previous speeches, contemplating how this man's political ambitions might change their lives and their nation.
The lively interview continued...
...
On the other side of Helrom, in the commercial district south of the city.
At 8:30 in the evening, Helrom was a dazzling and vibrant sight, with huge magical crystal screens and lights creating a flowing landscape that illuminated the entire building complex as bright as day.
On these holographic screens, the latest fashion advertisements, movie trailers starring celebrities, and logos of various commercial brands took turns appearing, competing with the lights of the shopping malls. The phantasmagoria of lights and images danced in the air, and the illusion magic and projection barriers made it difficult to distinguish between reality and fantasy.
In the bustling streets of Helrom, Sybrian and Michelle walked in sync across the noisy intersection, with streams of people around them resembling rivers of various colors and shapes.
"We still have one more day off from school tomorrow. I'll take you to find the man you've been thinking about," Michelle suggested, carrying a shopping bag.
"Okay," Sybrian replied, though she had intended to object. But the more she objected at this point, the deeper Michelle's misunderstanding would become.
Now that they were in the imperial capital of Helrom, a place with better information flow than the southern part of the empire, it shouldn't be difficult to find someone with the Milford family's connections.
"Actually, I told him that if we ever got separated, he should just wait for me in the most conspicuous place. That way, I would be able to find him quickly. I wonder if he's been waiting for me in a conspicuous place all this time," Sybrian said, a mix of emotions filling her voice.
Sybrian recalled, her eyes distant as she remembered.
"If he really meant it, who knows, we might just stumble upon him as we stroll around." Michelle replied.
If this man named Rocky truly cared for her sister, he should do his best to fulfill his promise. Only then could he be considered a reliable man.
"No, no, no! He mustn't get any crazy ideas. A peaceful and stable life is best!" Sybrian waved her hands frantically.
Michelle didn't understand. That guy's way of thinking was just different from that of ordinary people.
"What? Is he the type of man who will squander all the money you've painstakingly saved and then ask for more?" Michelle asked, her suspicion growing.
She was worried that her innocent sister might be deceived by a scoundrel.
"Not at all... He's never asked me for money." Sybrian found it hard to explain to Michelle what kind of man Lanchi was. Only when Michelle saw him would she understand.
Just as Sybrian was about to give an example of something Lanchi might do, she thought she heard his familiar voice.
"Am I hallucinating? I think I heard his voice." Sybrian covered her head with her hand, confused as she looked around.
She didn't see anything, but she had a strong feeling that something divine was happening, as if a god was whispering to her from the heavens.
"Sister, you really miss him, don't you?" Michelle sighed. Love truly made people blind.
"Wait, I think I can hear his voice too." Michelle suddenly realized that there seemed to be a male voice echoing through the commercial district, coming from the far end of the square, between the buildings.
"No way..." Sybrian's expression turned tense at Michelle's words.
Her heart raced as she quickened her steps towards the direction of the voice, with Michelle following close behind.
"It's probably nothing. I might have misheard, or maybe..." Sybrian muttered to herself, at the same time offering a prayer to the Goddess. She hoped that Lanchi wouldn't do anything too outrageous in the Protoss Empire and that he would understand the implications of what she had said to him.
No matter what happened.
She had to stay calm and composed.
As Sybrian turned the corner, she found herself in the open square at the heart of the commercial district.
All the screens hanging in the sky above displayed the same scene, and at that moment, the voice echoed as if surrounding the entire Crystal Sea shore.
Michelle came to an abrupt halt, watching as her sister, who usually exuded elegance, stood frozen, her mouth agape as she stared at the giant outdoor screen, her eyes trembling. It took her a while before she could speak.
Michelle followed her sister's gaze and looked up at the screens.
On the farthest screen, a young man with brown hair and emerald eyes, dressed in a purple suit, was engaged in a conversation with the national-level host, Laeola.
"You said that even though you don't intend to run, you believe you can win." The host asked curiously.
The young man didn't rush to answer. Instead, he let the silence hang in the air for a few seconds, a sign of respect for her question and a moment to gather his thoughts.
He tilted his shoulders and smiled slightly, his gaze fixed on Laeola, and then he turned to face the audience, as if inviting everyone into his world of thoughts.
"To be honest, I'm not too sure myself. But I think I can win. You know, my life has been filled with very few failures." He began, his voice exuding confidence and calmness.
"If I were to lean towards running for president, I believe I would have a greater chance of winning the people's favor. I'd say my chances of victory would be extremely high."
"Because even though I don't know what the viewers are thinking, I believe they, like me, are tired of seeing the Protoss Empire being taken advantage of."
And in the square, surrounded by the giant screens...
Sybrian: "What the hell?!?!"
