Chapter 372: Come On, We're Used to It!
Chapter 372: Come On, We're Used to It!
"Professor Mcgonagall is being a bit too serious, isn't she? She actually plans to deduct points to the point of going negative", Ivan said with a headache as they left the Headmaster's Office.
"That's not being serious! Professor Mcgonagall is right. After all, we broke something so valuable!" Hermione countered, then turned to Ivan with a worried look and said, "Right, Ivan! What we said earlier, is it really okay?"
"Of course it's fine. I believe even Professor Dumbledore wouldn't want too many people to know about that incident", Ivan nodded.
The fewer people who knew about his use of the Time Turner to travel back in time, the better. So Ivan had always used the excuse of being too busy with his studies and working on improving the Polyjuice Potion to fool the professors.
Because of this, all the professors except Professor Mcgonagall understood and let them off easily.
They even canceled the Arithmancy and Muggle Studies classes, so they wouldn't have conflicting schedules every day.
On their way to the Great Hall, Ivan, puzzled by Hermione's choice, couldn't help but ask, "I remember you always disliked Professor Trelawney, thinking she was a bit eccentric and always spouting nonsense. Why didn't you just cancel the Divination class altogether?"
"That was before! Now I don't think so!" Hermione rolled her eyes at Ivan. "Have you forgotten? Professor Trelawney successfully predicted our experience!"
Then, the young witch excitedly explained her analysis in a tone that sounded like solving a mystery, completing the prophecy given by Professor Trelawney.
"You will (create) witness a massacre! The ground will be drenched in blood, like hell!"
"According to this, the moment you picked up my teacup, our fates became intertwined! So when Professor Trelawney was interpreting the prophecy, she must have seen both of our fates at the same time!"
Hermione flipped through the book she had been carrying, "Divining the Future", pointing to a page as she analyzed it, glancing at it even as she walked.
She believed that if she studied hard enough, one day she could predict the future like Professor Trelawney and avoid risks in advance.
Ivan responded half-heartedly. He knew that Professor Trelawney's ability to make prophecies was entirely due to her natural talent, and reading books alone wouldn't make someone a seer.
Moreover, neither he nor Hermione had the talent to be a seer.
Ivan thought that among the people he knew, only Luna's demeanor and exceptional intuition made her suitable for studying this.
As they chatted while walking, they soon arrived at the Great Hall.
Since it was dinner time, the hall was bustling with activity. A few nearby young wizards were discussing the upcoming Quidditch match and some amusing classroom incidents.
This relaxed atmosphere made Ivan, who had just returned from Knockturn Alley, feel a bit out of place. His gaze inadvertently swept over the empty Gryffindor Points Board, and he felt a pang of guilt.
After all, he had single-handedly depleted all of Gryffindor's House Points.
Hermione had been walking with her head down the entire way.
But when the two of them slipped into their seats at the Gryffindor House table, they realized that no one was talking about the empty points board.
Ivan was quite surprised. He had thought that after such a big incident, the little lions of Gryffindor would be very eager to discuss who did it, and might even isolate him and Hermione.
The young witch couldn't help but whisper to them.
"Harry, Ron, didn't you notice that our Gryffindor House Points have been deducted to zero?"
"We saw it a long time ago! Someone passing by the Headmaster's Office heard Professor Mcgonagall raging, and she even shouted your names. So, really, it was you?" Harry said casually, but then he guessed the truth from Hermione's reaction.
Ron also looked at the two of them with a strange expression. What did they do? To lose over a hundred points?
"It was just a small accident", Ivan didn't explain much, and then he continued curiously, "Why don't you seem to care much about it?"
"Come on, we're used to it. This isn't the first time our House Points have been cleared", George chimed in, munching on a steak, and added nonchalantly.
"And you always manage to get them back by the end of the term, right?" Fred joked with a grin.
In the past two years, Gryffindor had won the House Cup thanks to Ivan and others, and Ivan and Hermione were usually the ones who earned the most points. This time, losing over a hundred points wasn't a big deal, so no one blamed them.
Ivan glanced around and found that, indeed, the little lions of Gryffindor were quite calm, just as George and Fred had said.
Getting used to losing points—this was something else.
Ivan shook his head inwardly, looking at the teasing Weasley twins and said with a smile, "Since you all say that, I can't let you down, can I?"
George and Fred exchanged glances. They had only been joking, but Ivan looked so confident that they immediately asked curiously.
Ivan kept quiet, maintaining an air of secrecy. He naturally had a plan to earn points this time, and it all depended on Peter!
Just by exposing this traitor who was hailed as a hero by the Ministry of Magic, and clearing the name of Sirius Black, a core member of the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore would be so pleased that adding a few hundred points would be a piece of cake.
As Ivan was thinking this, a familiar voice rang out in front of them.
"Hals, I heard you did something stupid and got a severe scolding from your Head of House. Is that true? I thought you were always the teachers' pet!"
Hearing this, Ivan frowned and turned to see Draco Malfoy, with his two dim-witted lackeys, strutting over confidently.
"Malfoy, weren't you hiding under your covers, crying your eyes out these past few days? What gives you the nerve to meddle in my business now?" Ivan wasn't angry, but he raised an eyebrow, surprised.
Malfoy had always been terrified of him, always avoiding him whenever they met. Today, he was unusually proactive in coming over.
You suddenly got brave, kid!
Ivan looked at Malfoy with surprise. "If I'm not mistaken, you still owe me a thank you. How about saying it out loud now, Malfoy?"
