Chapter 371: I'm Just an Ordinary Human
Chapter 371: I'm Just an Ordinary Human
At Marineford, the headquarters of the Navy, a place now more aptly described as 'Mount Gourd' due to its current shape. Amidst the towering tsunami, Feng Ye's ship rode atop a massive wave, carrying it far away.
Robin stood in a daze, her eyes fixed on the distant Navy headquarters. It was only when it grew even more distant that she slowly snapped out of her trance, realizing what had just transpired. She couldn't help but turn to look at Feng Ye.
Feng Ye had invaded the Navy headquarters with her, not only defeating high-ranking Navy officials but also nearly destroying the entire base, and now they were leaving unscathed! Although she had a feeling from the start that following Feng Ye to the Navy headquarters wouldn't end in death, she had imagined they would be fleeing in a chaotic rush. Yet, the outcome was entirely different!
Robin's gaze trembled as she looked at Feng Ye. "Are...are you a god?"
Although Feng Ye's appearance and demeanor resembled that of a human, the power he had just displayed transcended humanity in her eyes. Even if Feng Ye were human, he would be a human who had attained godlike power!
Feng Ye stood tall at the bow of the ship, his white cloak and silver hair billowing in the wind. Hearing Robin's question, he turned to her, smiled gently, and replied, "No."
"I'm just an ordinary human, a mere traveler." As he finished speaking, he turned back to face the sky, his eyes gazing into the distance. "Becoming a god would be the most boring thing..."
Robin stood behind Feng Ye, looking at his back, speechless.
...
In the Red Earth Continent, within the highest level of the Pangge Castle in the holy land of Mary Joa, the Five Elders, also known as the Five Elder Stars, were gathered for a meeting.
"Kaido of the Hundred Beasts has clashed with the Whitebeard Pirates again..."
"Should we take action?"
"No, there are still some tricky issues that need resolving. We mustn't act rashly, but this is indeed an opportunity."
"Zephyr retaining his military rank and no longer executing the duties of a fleet admiral, and Capone not following orders... If Sengoku were to go and something went wrong, it would be troublesome. CP0 has also been a challenge to deploy lately."
The Five Elder Stars sat around a round table, their voices grave as they discussed the matters at hand.
The latter half of the Grand Line, also known as the New World, was a battleground for countless heroes. Powerful pirate crews led by the likes of Whitebeard, Kaido of the Hundred Beasts, and Big Mom roamed these waters, alongside solitary swordsmen like Mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman.
At this moment, Mihawk was not yet the world's foremost swordsman, but he was already a renowned loner in the Grand Line, capable of surviving in the New World by his own might.
"Speaking of which..."
"I have a proposal."
One of the Five Elder Stars' eyes flickered, and he spoke in a low voice, "What if we let pirates govern pirates? What do you think of that idea?"
One of the elders frowned slightly. "Do you mean to 'pacify' the pirates? It won't have much effect. Weaker pirates won't be able to deter others, and the stronger ones will do as they please. They won't obey orders like the Navy."
"No," the first elder continued. "My suggestion is to grant a very small number of respected pirates legal status as plunderers. They would be stationed in various regions of the Grand Line, effectively curbing the development of pirate forces and making it easier to maintain balance."
After a moment of contemplation, one of the Five Elder Stars spoke in a low voice, "This matter is worth considering, but I suggest we first observe the situation in the New World further. The traveler should have arrived there by now and may soon clash with other pirates. The landscape of the New World will undoubtedly change."
"Indeed."
"With the traveler's strength, the New World may become more complex, or it may simplify the landscape. Either way, we should hold off on making any hasty changes to the world's landscape and observe for now."
The others nodded in agreement.
Just then, the door to the conference room suddenly swung open.
A World Government official burst in, his forehead beaded with cold sweat, and his eyes wide with disbelief. "E-Elders! Something terrible has happened!"
The Five Elder Stars frowned.
One of them barked, "Why are you panicking?"
Another elder, leaning on a cane, tapped it on the ground and said, "Calm down and report what happened slowly. The sky isn't falling."
The official's cold sweat trickled down his face, and he took a moment to catch his breath before continuing, "Th-the traveler has invaded the Navy Headquarters!"
At these words, the Five Elder Stars' expressions changed.
"He invaded the Navy Headquarters? How audacious!"
"Is he another lawless rogue like the Golden Lion? In that case, we can't just sit idly by. Notify the Navy to apprehend him at all costs! Don't let him get away!"
One of the Five Elder Stars slammed his cane onto the ground, his voice cold and angry.
They had expected Feng Ye to go to the New World, but instead, he had invaded the Navy Headquarters. This turn of events left them momentarily shocked, quickly followed by fury.
Other matters could be tolerated, but invading the Navy Headquarters was absolutely unacceptable. The previous discussion about a hands-off approach had to be scrapped!
However, upon hearing the elders' words, the official didn't immediately respond. Instead, he said in a trembling voice, "I-it's too late, Elders...
"That man summoned two meteorites that blotted out the sky and crushed the entire Navy Headquarters. Admiral Akainu is severely injured, and both Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp and Fleet Admiral Sengoku suffered wounds and are unable to pursue..."
Silence fell.
The only sound in the conference room was the official's heavy breathing.
The faces of the Five Elder Stars froze, and their hands stilled.
Thud! Thud!!
The sound of a cane dropping onto the clean tiled floor and bouncing twice echoed through the room, after which silence reigned.
