Chapter 370: A Pleasant Collaboration
Chapter 370: A Pleasant Collaboration
"We'll be working together later, so why not introduce ourselves first?"
Lindsey hurried towards the outskirts of Echo Valley Town.
The town was built right in the valley, and with his speed, he quickly reached the edge.
Lindsey grabbed the Sensor with one hand and used his other hand to climb, leaping up the cliff in a few bounds.
When he reached a spot in front of an Echo Cave, Lindsey finally released the Sensor:
"Relax, I won't force you to fight a Seventh Stage Awakened either. Just lead the way honestly."
"Our collaboration will definitely be very pleasant!"
"..."
The Sensor's face turned bitter.
He had an urge to turn around and run.
But as he thought about Lindsey's displayed abilities, he squashed that fantasy himself.
The Sensor had no choice but to introduce himself:
"Sir, my name is Kaghi."
"You must have realized that I'm just a Fourth Stage Sensor with no combat-related talents."
Lindsey casually replied with a fake name:
"So, Kaghi, right? Don't be nervous, just call me Diablo."
Kaghi immediately began to flatter him:
"Sir Diablo, your name itself exudes authority and greatness. You must be an extraordinary person!"
"..."
Lindsey felt like laughing but held it in.
He turned around, and the cliff was riddled with countless caves. Even with the Puzzle Module activated, he only saw intricate, chaotic footprints, making it impossible to discern the correct path.
Lindsey then turned to Kaghi beside him:
"Tell me, which way did Mullernahun and Hans Ke go?"
Kaghi's expression turned sour at the question.
Even now, he still couldn't quite believe Lindsey's intentions:
"Sir Diablo, you really intend to track those two Seventh Stage Awakened? You're not joking, are you?"
Lindsey retorted:
"When you and the others were surrounding Forlz, weren't you a bit more cautious?"
"..."
Kaghi was caught in another lie by Lindsey.
Not daring to gamble on whether Lindsey was testing him, Kaghi honestly pointed to a spot lower down on the cliff:
"Over there."
"They both entered the mountain one after the other from that spot. As for what they did inside, I have no idea."
Lindsey nodded.
He continued climbing upwards with Kaghi, reaching the cave entrance with ease.
The moment Lindsey stepped into the cave, he felt a response in his quest log.
He looked up, and indeed, a new quest appeared.
[Find the Injured]
[In the midst of a tense pursuit, an injured Awakened has been trapped here. Find them!]
[Quest Reward: Upgrade Puzzle Module]
"..."
"Puzzle Module?"
Lindsey's eyebrows rose in surprise, feeling both unexpected and delighted.
Searching for someone in this maze-like Echo Tunnel did indeed resemble a puzzle game.
He turned to Kaghi beside him:
"With your skills, you should be able to track their trail, right?"
Kaghi's face fell:
"Sir, it's been over a day now."
"My vision and hearing are well-trained, and my reconnaissance abilities are decent. But if the distance is too great, there's nothing I can do..."
Lindsey interrupted Kaghi's response:
"What about your sense of smell?"
"A Sensor's Fourth Stage skills should have unlocked superhuman olfaction."
"They must have left some scent as they passed by here, and you should be able to discern it, right?"
"..."
Kaghi was speechless, his expression so bitter he almost wanted to cry.
He had wanted to find some excuse, but never expected Lindsey to see right through his abilities with a single statement.
The Sensor, at this point, had completely lost any desire to resist Lindsey.
He focused intently, examining the scents in the surrounding air.
"Sniff—sniff sniff—"
With his enhanced skills, the Sensor's sense of smell surpassed even that of an elephant!
In a poorly ventilated cave like this, not to mention a day or two, even the scent from a week ago was as clear as day to him!
Kaghi quickly identified the correct route.
Without Lindsey's urging, he, now completely convinced, took the lead and guided the way, taking the opportunity to ask Lindsey:
"Lord Diablo, have you worked with other Sensors before? Even if ordinary people know we excel at reconnaissance, they rarely consider factors like smell and scent."
"..."
Lindsey recalled her experiences in Black Mountain.
Oma, controlled by the Dragon Beast, was a Fifth Stage Sensor.
After completing the Empathy, his tracking ability even surpassed Lindsey's Map skill.
What a waste of talent.
Yet, due to the Dragon Beast's control, he remained forever in Black Mountain.
Lindsey sighed, "I did work with a Sensor once, but he has since departed this world..."
Lindsey's words were casual, but to Kaghi, they sounded like a dire threat! What did Lindsey mean? The Awakened he had worked with was now gone from this world!
Kaghi's heart sank, fearing that if he didn't cooperate, he might face the same fate. He took a few steps forward, venturing deeper into the dark cave, and even asked Lindsey behind him:
"Lord Diablo, my eyes can see clearly in the dark. Do you need a torch?"
Lindsey equipped the Crimson Spider Eye Goggles in her inventory: "No need, I can see clearly."
"..."
The two continued their journey through the pitch-black Echo Tunnel.
Led by the Sensor's keen sense of smell, they quickly ventured deep into the mountain's interior, encountering other adventurers exploring the tunnels along the way.
But after several hours, the Echo Tunnel showed no signs of ending.
Lindsey activated her Map skill, and the number of markers around them significantly decreased.
At this moment, the cave they were in was a far cry from the smooth exterior of the valley.
The terrain became rugged with sharp edges, and some areas even had natural underground fissures, within which pale skeletons lay.
Ahead of Lindsey, Kaghi's pace also slowed.
He could smell the scent of two Seventh Stage Awakeners growing stronger, and his fear intensified.
After walking a bit further, Kaghi forced himself to chat with Lindsey, seeking a sense of security from this powerful individual:
"By the way, Lord Diablo."
"What type of Awakened are you?"
"I've visited many worlds, but I've never met anyone as formidable as you!"
Lindsey replied nonchalantly, "I'm a Life Scholar, and at most, I've learned some combat techniques from Warriors."
A Life Scholar? How did this profession see through his lies? Kaghi was baffled.
Just then, he caught a whiff of a peculiar scent from the wall, causing him to halt abruptly.
"It's not Mullernahun or Hans Ke?"
"This scent... something's not right!"
