Chapter 37: I'm a Sunny, Outgoing Big Boy
Chapter 37: I’m a Sunny, Outgoing Big Boy
Just as Yecheng finished speaking, a glint of sword light suddenly flashed before him, landing on the ground where Yecheng had just been standing. The sharp blade was now deeply embedded in the floor.
"This time, I’m definitely going to kill you, you guy!"
Cui’s full name is Su Cui Lu Chirazegarulunea Aglanzerga Elga. If it were other elves or more knowledgeable humans, hearing this name would have already given them a good idea that Cui is not an ordinary elf, but a member of the elven royal family.
In the elf race, Elia is a surname reserved for the royal family. Any elf maiden who bears this name is either a queen or a princess.
Indeed, Cui’s true identity is that of a princess from the Elven Clan Elia. She left her tribe because she needed to collect ancient relics scattered across the world due to certain reasons.
Ancient relics are magical artifacts passed down from ancient times. Each of these relics possesses powerful and mysterious abilities. However, due to their age, there are not many people who know how to use them.
Cui’s initial encounter with the venomous dragon was not because she had accepted a commission or wanted to help nearby villages remove a threat. Instead, she had heard that the venomous dragon’s lair contained an ancient relic.
Unfortunately, she underestimated the venomous dragon’s strength. She failed to obtain the ancient relic and nearly lost her life in the process.
If it weren’t for Yecheng’s timely rescue, she might have really died there.
After Yecheng defeated the venomous dragon, Cui, using the information she had gathered, quickly found the dragon’s hidden lair. However, apart from some treasure, there was no ancient relic in the lair.
Considering Yecheng’s previous behavior, which clearly showed he was a complete treasure hunter, she wanted to ensure she had some leverage in case she met him again.
So, even though she didn’t find the ancient relic, Cui used the elven royal family’s secret technique to pack and take away all the valuable treasure from the venomous dragon’s lair, leaving Yecheng with only a pile of junk.
She had contributed to the battle against the venomous dragon, using up most of its magic and stamina before Yecheng made his move, which is why Yecheng was able to win so easily.
The most valuable part of the venomous dragon was its body materials. Now, the bulk of the treasure was left for Yecheng, while she had only taken a small portion. Was that really too much to ask?
Because of Cui’s actions, Yecheng had to go through a lot of trouble to find the venomous dragon’s lair and was furious, stomping his feet and cursing the dragon for being a poor bastard.
The dragon race has two notable traits: lust and avarice. Their lust is evident in their willingness to mate with any race, leading to the existence of many sub-dragons and hybrid species on the continent.
Their avarice is shown in their love for collecting treasure, which is why heroes enjoy slaying dragons. The reasoning is simple: by killing a dragon, one gains not only a captured princess (or beauty) but also the dragon’s hoard of treasure.
Fame, beauty, and wealth—all the elements of a perfect life. Slaying a dragon can save one thirty years of hardship. It’s no wonder so many people aspire to be dragon slayers.
Though the venomous dragon is a sub-dragon, it is still a prominent figure among its kind. Yecheng, however, doesn’t care about fame, as he doesn’t value it much.
When it comes to beauty... the elf maiden from before was indeed beautiful, but unfortunately, Yecheng doesn’t go for the “pride” type. Plus, compared to apples, he actually prefers pineapples or papayas. So when Cui left, he didn’t try to keep her around much.
But when it comes to wealth, Yecheng does care, and he knows that dragons love to collect treasures.
However, when he and Shima Yousuke arrived at the venomous dragon’s lair, the sight of the meager scraps on the ground left Yecheng dumbfounded. This was supposed to be the treasure hoard of a mighty dragon? The ground was cleaner than his pocket, and this so-called sub-dragon boss was actually poorer than the ice python in the underground labyrinth!
“Pfft, what a joke of a venomous dragon. Its name sounds impressive, but it’s a disgrace to the dragon race. This pile of junk isn’t even worth what a scavenger would collect.
I knew that guy was weak, but I didn’t expect him to be this poor.”
Looking at the scraps left behind by Cui in the venomous dragon’s lair, Yecheng spat on the ground, showing his strong disdain for the venomous dragon.
A sub-dragon boss should be out raiding for gold and princesses, not harassing a few small villages. Clearly, this venomous dragon was a complete loser in the dragon race.
This indirectly led to one of the main reasons Yecheng would later abandon the venomous dragon’s corpse.
Because the venomous dragon’s lair was so poor, Yecheng believed that it was just a loser in the dragon race. Even if he went through the trouble of dragging the corpse back, it wouldn’t sell for much. So, he decided to collect some materials that looked valuable and leave the rest behind.
Of course, all of this is just background. The key point is that Cui is actually a princess from the elven royal family, though Yecheng and Shima Yousuke, being from another world, didn’t recognize her.
As an elven princess with a maxed-out pride attribute, Cui was naturally furious after being seen and mocked by Yecheng for having no noteworthy features.
She retrieved her longsword from her storage magic and swung it at Yecheng with lightning speed.
“Damn, are you crazy, Cui? Weren’t the misunderstandings already cleared up?”
Yecheng deflected Cui’s slash, a few strands of white hair falling to the ground. Seeing the sword deeply embedded in the ground and the sword mark extending several meters forward, Yecheng swallowed hard.
Though he didn’t know why, Yecheng could clearly sense that Cui’s combat strength seemed even greater than when she fought the venomous dragon.
Despite not taking any special potions or using magic, Yecheng felt that Cui was extremely dangerous.
What Yecheng didn’t know was that women have two major taboos: age and figure (weight). And unfortunately, his words had just stepped on both landmines, making him the undisputed king of minefield dancing.
Cui, as an elven princess, might not have a curvy figure, but she definitely had something to show, and certainly wasn’t “not worth looking at” as Yecheng had said.
As for age... Yecheng, who had lived nearly a hundred years in Soul Society, had no right to criticize someone for being old while calling himself a sunny, cheerful big boy.
