Chapter 37: Abduction
Chapter 37: Abduction
Chen Chuan and Chou Huzi's men were at least a hundred meters apart, but when they started sprinting, it seemed like only a few breaths had passed before they reached their targets.
The two men were startled and swiftly drew their daggers from their waists.
"Oh ho ho..." Guo Pangzi watched with anticipation, knowing that fighting unarmed against armed opponents was a different matter entirely, and even with his skills, he could still get injured without protective gear.
Injuring or killing someone was the commissioner's business, not his, and with one of the commissioner's men by his side, Lu Weiban wouldn't dare to turn on him over this.
Although Chen Chuan was unarmed, his Second Self's overlay increased his speed and reflexes exponentially. In his eyes, the two men's movements appeared sluggish.
As he ran, he subtly adjusted his steps, shifting to the side, causing the two men to rotate and unknowingly end up one behind the other. Then, he suddenly accelerated, kicking the man on his left and spinning to deliver a back kick to the man on the right's head.
The powerful kicks rendered both men combat-ineffective instantly, and without pausing, Chen Chuan continued his pursuit of Chou Huzi.
To onlookers, it seemed like Chen Chuan had charged forward, spinning and delivering a flying kick that sent both men flying simultaneously. Before they even hit the ground, he had already passed by.
Guo Pangzi was astonished, stroking his chin. "Hmm? That's similar to the Show General Kung Fu style. Is he a disciple or younger brother of Gu Maodi?"
He then became excited, turning to the drummer behind him and making a gesture of raising both hands upwards. The drummer understood and responded with a rapid double-handed strike on the drums, setting a fast rhythm once more.
Chen Chuan quickly caught up to Chou Huzi, who turned his head and said something to the bodyguard running alongside him. The bodyguard halted and drew a dagger from his waist, twirling it in his hand with the tip pointing downwards, his grip steady, and a hint of ferocity in his eyes.
Chen Chuan recognized him as the man Wei Chang'an had mentioned, Zhai Wu. Despite this, Chen Chuan's speed didn't diminish. Zhai Wu's fierce expression turned to determination as he stepped forward to block Chen Chuan's path, dagger at the ready.
Even with his Second Self, Chen Chuan didn't want to be stabbed by the dagger. As they drew closer, he discreetly flicked his right hand, and two pebbles flew out ahead of him.
Zhai Wu's reflexes were exceptional. He swiftly dodged one pebble and deflected the other with his dagger, sending sparks flying.
Chen Chuan was slightly surprised. Despite Zhai Wu's amateurish technique, his speed and strength were evident. To accurately parry the pebbles with his dagger required exceptional eyesight and speed, indicating a highly skilled fighter.
Once engaged in combat, Chen Chuan often experienced bursts of inspiration. Seeing Zhai Wu's reaction, he immediately formulated a countermeasure. He accelerated his pace while subtly lowering his left hand as if preparing to throw another pebble.
Zhai Wu's keen eyes noticed this movement and instinctively judged that there might be another pebble. He stiffened, and even though he mentally realized it could be a feint, his body had already reacted, causing a slight twitch throughout.
As they rapidly closed the distance, Chen Chuan seized the initiative with this subtle extra movement. He grunted, stomping his foot down and surging forward with a blur of motion. He swatted away Zhai Wu's dagger-wielding hand while simultaneously delivering a Shocking Spirit Fist towards Zhai Wu's face!
At this moment, Zhai Wu's dagger-holding hand was blocked, and he realized he couldn't dodge Chen Chuan's ferocious attack. His pupils constricted, and he planted his feet, extending his other hand to parry while letting out a grunt. His arm trembled, and beneath his skin, his muscles tensed, unleashing a burst of power.
Zhai Wu intended to push Chen Chuan away, but to his surprise, Chen Chuan not only struck but also controlled his retreat. He stomped his foot and stood firm, his entire body exploding with power centered around his fist. As their forces collided, even though it wasn't a direct hit, Zhai Wu's body shook, and he took a step back.
Unfazed, Chen Chuan pressed forward, withdrawing his arm as he advanced... and throwing another punch!
Zhai Wu, still reeling from the previous impact, could only choose to block again, grunting as he braced himself, his body trembling and taking another step back.
Chen Chuan closed the distance, throwing the same punch with unwavering force. Zhai Wu, in turn, gritted his teeth, his feet almost sinking into the mud as he grunted and clashed with Chen Chuan once more.
In this back-and-forth, with each punch from Chen Chuan, Zhai Wu took a step back, his body shaking violently. After five consecutive clashes, Zhai Wu had retreated five steps.
"Boom... Boom... Boom... Boom... Boom..." On the other side, the drummer was in sync, accentuating each collision with a louder beat.
As Chen Chuan prepared to punch for the sixth time, Zhai Wu, still wearing a fierce expression, suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood. He seemed to lose all his strength and knelt before Chen Chuan, then collapsed face-first into the muddy ground.
As Chen Chuan approached, the drummer behind him couldn't help but widen his eyes, his body trembling with excitement. He raised his hands high and then slammed them down with all his might!
Boom!
As the drum reverberated, Chen Chuan's momentum-filled kick landed on the car door at the same time!
A loud crash echoed as the sedan jolted sideways by more than a meter. The car door caved in, and the force sent Qiu Huzi, who was in the main seat, flying to the passenger seat, where he stuck to the glass window.
The Bloodstain Gang members watched with their eyes wide, some even screaming in excitement. This kick was a complete release of power and violence, a visually stunning display that sent their adrenaline soaring.
Chen Chuan retracted his foot, circled the car, and grabbed the door handle, pulling it open. Qiu Huzi tumbled out, and as he did, the drummer quickly struck the drums again, ending with a final bang as Qiu Huzi hit the ground.
A loud explosion sounded nearby, and the wire mesh door of the old phone booth flew out. Wei Chang'an emerged, rubbing his forehead, his expression grim.
Guo Pangzi chuckled, "Oh, you're out."
Wei Chang'an glared at him, "If Qiu Huzi had escaped today, Guo Pangzi, you wouldn't have been able to hold him back."
"Oh, is that so?" Guo Pangzi seemed unconcerned.
Wei Chang'an ignored him and walked over to Qiu Huzi, stepping on his shoulder, "What now? Still running? Run, run, where do you think you can go?"
Qiu Huzi gasped, "If it weren't for Scarface not being here, you wouldn't have caught me so easily."
Wei Chang'an didn't bother arguing. He grabbed Qiu Huzi by the collar and hoisted him up, then said to Chen Chuan, "Junior, help me put him in the trunk. Your luggage can go in my back seat."
"Yes, Senior," Chen Chuan replied.
