Chapter 368: Crossing the Line
Chapter 368: Crossing the Line
"Rest well, I'll handle things outside."
Lindsey left a message for Forlz, who was still recovering.
He walked to the window, opened it, and leaped out.
At that moment, Lindsey was struggling with a decision, and the group of Awakened individuals causing trouble outside provided a suitable opportunity to release his pent-up frustration.
The rain continued to pour down on the street.
The Awakened individuals, who were about to break into the residence, had already crowded around the door, preparing to force their way in.
Just then, the window above them creaked open.
One of them looked up, but before they could react, a dark shadow plummeted down from above.
"Ah? Someone's up there..."
Bang! Lindsey slammed into the person, knocking them to the ground.
Using the momentum of his fall, he grabbed the person's arm with one hand and twisted it behind their back, while his other hand struck the back of their neck, rendering them unconscious.
The person instantly went limp, unable to struggle or speak.
Lindsey stood up calmly, his expression serene.
He scanned the surrounding adventurers with a cold gaze.
"..."
"Who are you?"
"It's this guy! He sneaked in and colluded with Forlz!"
The Awakened individuals surrounding the house stirred, their eyes filled with apprehension as they looked at Lindsey. One of them shouted in accusation.
But Lindsey paid them no heed.
He glanced up at the pitch-black sky, where the clouds obscured the stars and moon, and the rain fell softly, as if concealing the chaos that had just occurred.
Lindsey looked down at the ground:
"There's still water puddles."
There were indeed puddles on the street, and the man Lindsey had knocked out was lying face down in the water.
"Although his intentions were not pure, it's not a crime worthy of death."
Lindsey muttered.
He adjusted the man's body, ensuring he wasn't completely submerged, preventing him from drowning.
The rain continued to fall, enveloping the area around the residence.
Lindsey jumped down from the second floor, calmly knocking out the man, and then straightening his body.
His actions were indifferent, as if the surrounding adventurers were invisible.
Even without sensing any extraordinary essence pressure, the other Awakened individuals were cautious, fearing the consequences of their actions.
They watched Lindsey standing motionless, as if he could merge with the rain at any moment.
The adventurers who had been ready to storm into the house hesitated, their initial determination wavering.
They could only shout and bluster to bolster their courage:
"Who exactly are you?"
"What were you doing up there with Forlz?"
Lindsey's gaze shifted, focusing on the man who had spoken.
He was certain that the man who had just spoken was the same one who had exposed his presence downstairs.
Lindsey's eyebrows arched:
"A Sensor?"
"I didn't make much noise upstairs, ordinary Awakened individuals would never have noticed."
"Tell me, what did you overhear?"
"..."
The man's throat went dry, and he swallowed audibly.
Lindsey's guess was correct; he was indeed a Sensor, and he had sensed Lindsey's infiltration into the house from the start!
Even when Lindsey communicated with Forlz, he remained silent, using his sensory advantage to gather the information he needed.
It wasn't until Lindsey started manipulating the map with his fingers that the Sensor's skills reached their limit, and he could no longer discern more details, prompting him to alert the others.
Now, Lindsey was directly confronting him.
As an Awakened individual specialized in reconnaissance, he was already in a state of panic:
"What... what do you want?"
"Let me tell you, with all of us watching, you're alone..."
The Sensor attempted to issue more threats.
But beside him, a Warrior could no longer contain himself.
The warrior glared at Lindsey with a provocative stare, striding towards him and gripping his battle axe from behind his back.
"You sneaky fellow, caught red-handed, and you still dare to be so arrogant?"
The warrior grasped his axe, intending to strike Lindsey with the back of it.
"You little..."
Bang!
The warrior's words and actions abruptly halted.
His combat instincts reminded him that Lindsey, standing before him, wouldn't dodge his attack and might even engage in a direct clash.
But as the axe descended, the situation unfolded differently from what the warrior had anticipated.
Lindsey effortlessly caught the axe with one hand, and the immense force transmitted through the handle caused the warrior to lose his balance and stumble backward.
"How is this possible?"
In a critical moment, the warrior used the axe handle to brace himself, regaining his footing.
But when he looked at Lindsey again, the arrogance in his eyes had faded, and he even took a step back.
Lindsey had precisely intercepted his attack and then overpowered him, a fourth-stage warrior, with sheer strength.
In the warrior's understanding, Lindsey could only be a more powerful combat-awakened individual to accomplish both feats.
He scrutinized Lindsey, but couldn't sense the power of a fifth-stage awakened within him; at most, he seemed slightly stronger than the warrior.
Could it be that Nark Bondke had developed a new combat style?
"Hmm?"
Just then, the warrior's vision blurred.
As he pondered, Lindsey had already moved in front of him.
Lindsey's speed far exceeded the warrior's reaction time, and with a swift palm strike, he knocked him out.
"I must dodge!"
It was too late.
The warrior's combat instincts warned him of the impending danger, but Lindsey's extraordinary agility left him no time to react. With a loud 'bang,' Lindsey rendered him unconscious on the ground.
Swish!
The adventurers around them collectively took a few steps back.
They were well aware of the warrior's capabilities and the imminent danger.
Lindsey's effortless defeat of the warrior left them in awe; they knew they wouldn't stand a chance against him.
The adventurers, already hesitant to engage in combat, became even more reluctant.
"..."
"Heh—"
Lindsey shook his head slightly.
Observing their reactions, he knew he had successfully intimidated them.
He then dragged the first person he had knocked out from the doorway with one hand and handed them over to the crowd.
Lindsey turned to the Sensor:
"You, come here."
The Sensor dared not resist and obediently stepped forward, with no one around offering assistance.
The two of them returned to the residence, and Lindsey took out a Hardwood Seed from his bag, casually tossing it towards the building.
Crack! Crunch!
Thorny hardwood sprouted from the ground, rapidly growing and enveloping the entire building.
Lindsey stood amidst the thorny wood.
He left a simple yet effective warning to the surrounding adventurers:
"What you do on the streets outside is none of my concern."
"But if you cross this boundary, the next time I act, it won't be as simple as just knocking someone out."
"..."
As his words trailed off, Lindsey turned and left, gripping the Sensor's collar and leaping lightly into the house through the window frame.
The adventurers were left behind, staring at the thorny wood in disbelief.
"Who is this guy?"
"Is this plant... a Life Scholar?"
"Such powerful combat skills, he's a warrior, right?"
Discussions arose, but under the circumstances, no one dared to take another step.
