Chapter 367: All About Money
Chapter 367: All About Money
Jiang Xia removed her gloves, washed her hands, and walked over to Zhou Chenglei, "Are you going to cast the net again?"
"No, let's head back early," Zhou Chenglei replied, handing her a water bottle with a twist-off cap.
Casting the net one more time would result in more fish, and he didn't want to tire her out.
"Alright," Jiang Xia took the water bottle.
"Lean on me and drink," Zhou Chenglei extended his long arm, embracing her waist and steadying her body.
The boat swayed slightly, and Jiang Xia leaned against him, drinking water while gazing ahead.
Zhou Chenglei hugged her and greeted the children in her womb, "Are you tired today?"
Jiang Xia swallowed a few mouthfuls of water, "I'm not tired. I just said I wasn't tired."
Feeling a bit hurt by her perceived nagging, Zhou Chenglei pouted, "I wasn't asking you, I was asking the children."
"..."
Jiang Xia, feeling a bit embarrassed, glared at him and lifted her foot to stomp on his foot, then did it again.
With her kitten-like strength, the stomps didn't hurt, and Zhou Chenglei smiled, hugging her tighter and steadying her body. He let her playfully kick him, then leaned down to kiss her, brushing away the water droplets on her lips.
After two stomps, Jiang Xia stopped, as everyone was wearing water shoes, making it impossible to stomp effectively.
She put down the water bottle and leaned her entire body against his embrace, using his support to stand and relax as she admired the vast ocean.
Suddenly, Jiang Xia quickly straightened her body and grabbed Zhou Chenglei's wrist, "Look! Quick, look over there!"
Zhou Chenglei raised his eyes and looked in the direction she indicated.
In the distance, countless fish leaped out of the ocean, jumping in the water.
They rose and fell, creating a spectacle akin to thousands of galloping horses, as the waves brought them closer.
"They're probably mullet," Zhou Chenglei said, hugging Jiang Xia tightly and swiftly turning the boat to balance with the waves.
Once the boat stabilized, he said to Jiang Xia, "You steer the boat, and I'll cast the net."
"Okay!" Jiang Xia replied.
Zhou Chenglei quickly found the single-layer flow net and, judging the distance, cast it into the sea.
Jiang Xia steered the boat forward at full speed.
The fishing net slowly sank into the water, and the current opened it up, forming a vertical net.
This flow net was woven by Zhou Mu, not bought, so it only had a single layer, whereas the ones sold outside had three layers.
Zhou Mu had specifically woven this net to catch fish that came with the waves.
In the distance, Li Xiuxian turned around and witnessed this breathtaking scene!
She shouted, "Dad! Quick, turn the boat around!"
Li Fu, "What's the matter?"
"There's a school of fish! Over there! A lot of them are jumping out of the water!"
She saw that Jiang Xia's boat had already started pulling up a large net.
Li Xiuxian grew more anxious, "Hurry up and turn the boat around!"
Li Fu, "Don't rush me, I've forgotten how to turn the boat around."
Li Xiuxian was almost at her wit's end, "Aisen, you go and steer the boat!"
Zhou Chensen had already walked over, but they were too far away, and he could only manage to catch a glimpse of the tail.
Li Xiuxian watched helplessly as Zhou Chenglei's fishing boat continued forward, pulling up a large net.
After casting the net, Zhou Chenglei returned to steer the boat.
He held Jiang Xia close, steering with one hand and allowing the fishing boat to move at full speed, trying to expand the net's range before the school of fish arrived.
The school of fish was getting closer and closer!
As the waves reached the boat, it swayed slightly.
Jiang Xia could see some fish jumping onto the deck.
The sound of fish slamming onto the deck was like hailstones falling.
"They're definitely mullet!" Zhou Chenglei exclaimed.
Jiang Xia recognized them too, as they had caught them before.
The mullet in this group were not small in size.
Mullet typically swam during the day, often forming schools, and occasionally jumped out of the water.
Jiang Xia saw the fish that fell, each one longer than half her arm. "Could it be because of the good weather that they're all jumping out at sea?"
"They have the habit of leaping out of the water. Winter is the best time to catch this kind of fish, especially after the winter solstice. Every year, many fishing vessels go out to sea specifically to catch this kind of fish and make black caviar. The roe of this fish can be dried to make black caviar, also known as 'Black Gold', which sells for a high price."
They were lucky to encounter a school of mullet without even having to go out to catch them.
The boat swayed slightly, and Zhou Chenglei held her tightly, turning the boat's direction to try to catch more.
After about ten minutes of jumping, the fish disappeared.
When Zhou Chensen and the others arrived, the fish had just vanished into the sea.
Zhou Chenglei said to them, "Second Brother, you sail around and see if you can catch some. These mullets are quite big and should be worth a lot."
"Okay!" Zhou Chensen responded and quickly sailed to chase them.
Li Xiuxian couldn't help but ask, "Did they catch a lot?"
Li Xiuxian was so frustrated!
Frustrated!
Regretful!
She wanted to punch herself!
This was how it felt to miss out on a fortune.
Why did she listen to her brother just now? If she had known, she wouldn't have sailed so fast!
They had just sailed away when they encountered the school of fish. Was the heavens toying with them?
Li Qingmin spoke with envy, "They must have caught a lot! They pulled such a big net, and all the fish were caught by them! What's the point of us sailing around?"
He had seen them pull a long net, welcoming the mullets that were carried by the waves, and all the fish were caught in one go!
After hearing this, Zhou Chensen slowed down the boat.
Alei's net was underwater, and most of the mullets had just jumped up. How could they have caught them all? It wasn't a surround net that enclosed the entire school.
It was just a straight net, and the jumping fish could escape by leaping over it.
He saw many fish jumping out of the net's range and swimming away.
That was why Alei asked him to chase them. How could a small fishing boat catch such a large school? It wasn't like they had two boats surrounding and enclosing the school.
Due to his profession, Zhou Chensen despised people who spoke irresponsibly and without thinking.
Li Xiuxian noticed the fishing boat slowing down and became anxious, "Why are you slowing down? Chase them quickly! What are you doing?"
Li Qingmin: "Yes! Ah Sen, why did you suddenly stop? Chase them quickly! Many fish got away! And we're still dragging the net, don't let it get stuck!"
Zhou Chensen: "Big Brother said they caught all the fish, so why should I chase them?"
Li Xiuxian: "..."
Li Qingmin: "."
Li Xiuxian was so angry she almost vomited blood, feeling so frustrated: "He's talking nonsense, and you believe him? Chase them quickly!"
Li Xiuxian was truly annoyed by Zhou Chensen's occasional temperamental behavior.
Why wasn't he worried at all?
Seeing others make so much money, wasn't he envious? It was infuriating!
Li Fu: "Ah Qing, don't talk nonsense! Don't speak irresponsibly!"
Li Qingmin: "I know."
Only then did Zhou Chensen speed up.
Li Xiuxian sat down.
She felt exhausted.
All day, she had been watching others make a fortune while her earnings couldn't even cover fuel and labor costs.
She felt so tired.
From afar, she looked at Jiang Xia's fishing boat: Jiang Xia was sailing, and Zhou Chenglei was hauling the net.
White mullets hung on the net, each one quite large.
They were all money!
Other people's money!
