Chapter 366: One Slash, Three Buddhas Severed — Zhu Ji Qi! (Happy National Day!)
Just as a chilling sense of danger surged through Xuan Yi’s heart, Lu Qing’s figure reappeared instantly before him.
Xuan Yi’s pupils contracted sharply.
This time, Lu Qing’s aura had intensified severalfold — and so had his speed. Even with his Xian Tian Jing Wan Man cultivation level, Xuan Yi couldn’t track his movements.
"Old bald monk," Lu Qing’s voice was ice-cold, "die!"
In an instant, his War Blade vanished.
It wasn’t truly gone — merely the result of such extreme speed that it created an optical illusion.
The sheer velocity meant unmatched power.
When Lu Qing’s blade reappeared in his hand — visible to all — Xuan Yi’s eyes widened in horror.
At that moment, a crack split open across his golden body, starting from his forehead and spreading down his entire form. His massive Golden Light Buddha Shadow, behind him, fractured in tandem.
His body split in two, slowly peeling apart.
His spirit consciousness sank into darkness, bit by bit.
At the same time, a thunderous explosion echoed from behind.
The half-carved giant Stone Buddha on the cliff face — nearly complete — also split in two.
A blade mark, over a hundred meters long, carved through its stone form.
Lu Qing’s Sword Qi had surged past him, cleaving the cliff and the Buddha along with it.
One slash — three Buddhas severed!
Xuan Yi. The Golden Light Buddha Shadow. The cliffside Stone Buddha.
Lu Qing’s strike was overwhelming — a display of such terrifying might that even the most hardened onlookers were struck dumb, their minds reeling in shock.
Even the red-robed monks who had been severed at the waist forgot their agony for a moment, staring in disbelief at the colossal cut still glowing faintly on the cliff.
Only when a golden light began to rise from Xuan Yi’s corpse did they snap back to reality.
They let out anguished cries.
“Senior Brother Xuan Yi!”
“Great Elder!”
One monk screamed, “Hurry! Don’t let him take the Diamond Robe!”
But it was too late.
The instant the golden light appeared, Lu Qing sensed its origin — the Treasure Artifact hidden within.
Without hesitation, he reached out and seized it.
As his fingers brushed the light, a deep, resonant voice boomed from within.
“Who dares trespass upon the treasures of Xuan Kong Shan?”
Inside the golden aura, a powerful Spirit Soul Power stirred — and immediately launched a soul assault, aiming straight for Lu Qing’s brow Qi Cavity, intent on shattering his will.
"Hmph."
Lu Qing didn’t flinch.
At the very moment the soul attack struck, a flash of light erupted from his body.
A phantom robe materialized, shielding him instantly.
Though the spirit force was formidable, it was utterly crushed — extinguished without leaving a trace.
But even as Lu Qing eradicated the attack, a sudden warning flared in his mind.
He snapped his head up, eyes locking onto the depths of the Lingshan Mountains.
A terrifying presence — one that defied description — was rising from within the peaks, racing toward him at breakneck speed.
“Zhu Ji Qi… and not just any Zhu Ji Qi!”
Lu Qing realized instantly: this was no ordinary cultivator. This was a true Zhu Ji Qi powerhouse.
He paused for a heartbeat — then, without hesitation, tossed the golden light into his Qiankun Yiqi Dai.
A Spirit Soul Transmission rang out:
“Xiao Li, run!”
He launched forward, vanishing into the forest in a blur.
Before disappearing, he slashed with several waves of Sword Qi, severing the heads of the remaining red-robed monks — still alive despite being cut in half.
“Ah!”
“No!”
Their wounds were too severe. They couldn’t dodge. One by one, their heads exploded in crimson sprays.
With the threat eliminated, Lu Qing vanished into the dense woods.
Yet the presence from the mountain depths — sensing something — accelerated further, streaking toward the forest like a storm.
The craftsmen on the cliff, relieved to see Lu Qing gone, exhaled — only to freeze again.
A crushing, overwhelming aura descended from above, landing at the base of the cliff.
There stood an old monk, clad in plain gray robes, his face a map of wrinkles like cracked earth. His eyebrows were long and thin, hanging down like braids over his shoulders.
The Gray Robe Elder stared at the corpses of Xuan Yi and the others. Grief flickered across his eyes — then vanished, replaced by cold fury.
He lifted his gaze toward the craftsmen above, and a wave of killing intent radiated from him.
“Where did that demon who killed Xuan Yi flee?”
The craftsmen trembled, their limbs numb with fear. Yet they dared not lie.
Trembling, one stammered, “R-Return… Master… he… he ran that way…”
The moment the words left his mouth, the Gray Robe Elder vanished — gone in a blur, chasing after Lu Qing.
---
“Why are we running, A Qing?” Xiao Li asked, nestled in Lu Qing’s arms as he sped through the forest, aided by Ling Fu’s enhancement. “Xiao Li can beat that guy!”
She sensed the incoming aura — powerful, yes — but not beyond her and A Qing’s reach.
“We’re not fleeing,” Lu Qing smiled. “We’re retreating strategically.”
He slowed slightly, catching his breath.
“The battlefield was too close to the entrance of Xuan Kong Shan Mi Jing. We couldn’t be sure — if we fought him, reinforcements might appear.”
There was another reason.
Xuan Yi — a Xian Tian Jing cultivator — had possessed a Treasure Artifact-level Unique Treasure.
The being that had just emerged from the Secret Realm? It undoubtedly wielded a powerful artifact too.
Though both were Treasure Artifacts, their power at Lianqi Realm versus Zhu Ji Qi level was worlds apart.
Lu Qing had a Spirit Artifact — but he wasn’t eager to face a Zhu Ji Qi master so near the sanctum.
If he failed to kill him instantly, and the enemy managed to hold him off…
Then more Zhu Ji Qi masters might appear.
Even with his artifact, Lu Qing could be overwhelmed.
So for safety’s sake — retreat was the wiser choice.
At least until they had a safe distance.
Only then could he truly focus — and fight a Zhu Ji Qi master on equal terms.
Behind him, the rapid approach of the terrifying presence grew ever louder.
A faint smile crept across Lu Qing’s face.
