Chapter 364: Lu Xiaofeng was Thoroughly Confused
Chapter 364: Lu Xiaofeng was Thoroughly Confused
Zhang Yingfeng and Ma Xiuzhen suddenly drew their swords, employing the Liuxu Sword Technique unique to the Emei Sect. Their blades danced like fluttering willows in the spring breeze, facing off against the two sinister black swords that resembled venomous snakes.
A lama wielded a pair of sharp rings, one in each hand, slicing through the air with force as he targeted Su Shaoying's throat and chest.
"I've encountered another expert who uses twin rings before," Su Shaoying remarked as he faced the charging lama, his face contorted in a sinister smile as if he had already killed Su Shaoying. "I must say, your skills pale in comparison to his."
"You couldn't handle his twin rings either, could you?" The lama didn't get to finish his sentence as a flash of silver light suddenly appeared before his eyes. The longsword that had been sheathed moments ago now hovered at his throat.
The lama's expression turned to one of shock, and he stumbled backward. He attempted to twist the rings inward to sever Su Shaoying's longsword, but before he could even exert any force, he felt a sharp pain in his throat, and all his strength left him.
Meanwhile, another lama lunged at Lu Xiaofeng, his twin rings aimed at Lu's body. The nine bronze rings on his arm also suddenly flew off, enveloping Lu Xiaofeng in a deadly assault.
This opponent seemed to recognize Lu Xiaofeng, as he unleashed his ultimate move right from the start, intending to kill Lu instantly.
However, Lu Xiaofeng didn't retreat. Instead, he sidestepped gracefully like a swimming fish, effortlessly dodging the onslaught of bronze rings that seemed impenetrable. Before the lama could react, Lu was already in front of him—his twin rings now on the outskirts of the attack!
The lama's face drained of color as he lifted his leg to strike Lu Xiaofeng's abdomen. But before he could complete the move, Lu had already struck seven vital points on his chest, causing him to crumple to the ground.
While Lu Xiaofeng and Su Shaoying had ended their battles swiftly, Zhang Yingfeng and Ma Xiuzhen didn't possess such prowess.
Nonetheless, they were no pushovers. Their black swords danced with agility and speed, their moves unpredictable and swift like a tempest. Yet, they found themselves unable to gain the upper hand against the Emei Sect's longswords.
However, when they witnessed the effortless defeat of the two lamas, their faces paled in shock, and they dared not linger any longer. Sheathing their swords, they prepared to escape through the window.
But escaping was not as easy as they had thought.
With a loud shout, Zhang Yingfeng moved with lightning speed, intercepting one of the black-clad men before he could reach the window. His sword moves rained down, entangling his opponent and preventing his escape.
Ma Xiuzhen was a step too slow and failed to block the path of her opponent, but with a flash of her sword, she left a deep wound on his shoulder.
As the black-clad man flew out the window, he caught a glimpse of silver light before losing consciousness.
At the same time, seeing his three companions fail, the last black-clad man panicked and hesitated, giving Zhang Yingfeng the opening she needed to pierce his chest with her sword.
Lu Xiaofeng smacked his lips. "You guys sure are ruthless, leaving no one alive for questioning."
Su Shaoying, who had just killed someone outside, reentered through the door and sheathed his sword. "You kept one alive, didn't you? One is enough."
"What if he lies to us?" Lu Xiaofeng asked.
Su Shaoying glanced at the fallen lama and replied nonchalantly, "Whether he speaks the truth or lies, it makes no difference now."
"What?" Lu Xiaofeng turned in surprise and saw that the lama's face had turned a ghastly color, and black blood was oozing from his seven orifices.
"Poison!" Lu Xiaofeng exclaimed in shock. "Someone poisoned him beforehand?"
Ma Xiuzhen and Zhang Yingfeng were also startled and quickly examined the black-clad swordsmen they had killed, but found no signs of poisoning.
"It's probably a poison pouch hidden in his teeth," Su Shaoying explained. "If he was about to be captured alive, he would bite down on the pouch and commit suicide."
"What kind of organization has such experts as suicide warriors?" Lu Xiaofeng asked incredulously. "Even Qingyi Tower and Red Shoes wouldn't have such members, would they?"
Despite Lu Xiaofeng and Su Shaoying's swift victories, their martial arts were not weak. Similar to the two swordsmen, they were on par with the top masters of the Emei Sect and were top-notch experts in the martial arts world.
"Of course, it's a mysterious organization," Su Shaoying said as he surveyed the four dead bodies. "However, guessing their origins isn't difficult."
Lu Xiaofeng looked at the lama with a ghastly pale face and said, "Although there are quite a few lamas in the capital, most of them have been Hanized over the past hundred years. Only those from Tibet would wear such attire."
Lu Xiaofeng turned to Su Shaoying and asked, "I heard that the lamas from Daxue Mountain Temple entered the Central Plains from the Tibetan border, traveling south to Lingnan and then north to Zhangjiakou. They are also colluding with the Hainan Sword Sect?"
"Tang Tianyi followed them almost all over the Central Plains," Su Shaoying confirmed.
Lu Xiaofeng then looked at the two dead swordsmen and said, "In that case, these two must be swordsmen from the Hainan Sect."
Zhang Yingfeng nodded and said in a low voice, "Although they deliberately altered their sword techniques, I could still discern traces of the Hainan Whirlwind Sword Technique."
The contemporary senior disciple of the Emei Sect indeed had keen insight.
"Why did they want to kill Li Yanbei?" Lu Xiaofeng asked.
These four experts were not here to kill Guan Huihu, who was merely one of Li Yanbei's thirty concubines. Therefore, their target must have been Li Yanbei, and they had just happened to encounter them.
"What is the relationship between Prince Pingnan and Li Yanbei?" Lu Xiaofeng's head was spinning. "Could it be that Li Yanbei betrayed Prince Pingnan, so the prince sent them to kill him and silence him?"
Lu Xiaofeng wasn't foolish. He understood the collaboration between the Hainan Sword Sect and Prince Pingnan. The lamas from Daxue Mountain Temple had met with the Hainan Sword Sect in Prince Pingnan's mansion, and Tang Tianyi had assumed that the Hainan Sword Sect was the one pulling the strings. However, looking at the current scene, it was clear that the mastermind was Prince Pingnan.
"Or is it because of the 1,950,000 taels of silver that brought him this calamity?" Lu Xiaofeng furrowed his brows in thought.
Although they had only found Guan Huihu's body so far, Lu Xiaofeng didn't rush to look for Li Yanbei.
He knew that Li Yanbei must be dead. Surrounded by four such formidable opponents, Li Yanbei didn't stand a chance without any guards. He wasn't Xi Men Chuixue, after all.
As expected, they soon found Li Yanbei's body in the firewood shed in the backyard. His body was surrounded by piles of firewood and hay, with a fire stick placed nearby, ready to be lit.
However, what puzzled them was that Li Yanbei hadn't died from the black swords or the sharp twin rings. Instead, he had a delicate pair of scissors embedded in his heart.
"What's going on here?" Lu Xiaofeng was thoroughly confused.
